I was most impressed with the forbidden rice rolls: ichiban, black widow, and Kamakazi rolls. Unlike most black rice, the rice was not hard but still soft like white rice with a nutty taste to add to the flavor profile. I also loved the fried onions on top of the Ichiban and Black Widow which really added flavor and texture. The Kamakazi had a nice chili oil to it which was pretty creative. I'm always worried about sushi places that other people give five stars so I decided to come in here and check it out for myself! It's very cute and Annie is really nice and the fish looks very fresh so that's all good. I am impressed with there specials of the day. I ordered and I'm waiting for my food and it's definitely happening for a Tuesday night. There is no cell phone reception if you have Verizon but they do have a Wi-Fi password which is great. The salmon carpaccio is way too fatty for me I can't really give it a fair rating because I took it to go. Bf said it wasn't completely fresh but I'm encouraged to dine in next time. This pains me to write this, I do not know if they have new management or ownership but we will never be back again. My Husband and I have been coming here for years and always loved it. We came in last weekend and the menus and staff were different. By the time we were home from dinner my husband was not feeling good. Within an hour he was struck with horrible food poisoning, I have never seen someone so sick in my life. Went here after the beach in Dana Point and didn't have the best experience. Sushi was not fresh and it was very chewy. Waters were salty and drinks were watered down. first time here and last, was looking over the menu and kept getting hovered by the employee pressuring me to order which i politely told her we weren't ready yet and she kept asking about 3+ times again within the past 10 minutes . then when we proceeded to order we decided to order a few plates because we wanted to take some to go for our lunches later and she immediately was like " that's too much" like if it is what is that your problem? isn't it to sell ? pretty offensive because it's none of her business if we wanted 2 plates each person but ok. guess it was for her . then when we needed actual help we waited patiently and she was clearly looking at us but then ignoring us like okay . then we had to get up and ask for to go containers even tho she clearly saw we needed help. then she decided to comment again saying " too much food huh" like yes it was and what? we planned to get extra to go? that's super unprofessional of her and rude because it's none of her business once again what we ordered. we were going to pay for it no matter what if that was her concern . over all rude stuff didn't think they deserved a tip and when i click that she just left even tho i asked for a printed receipt . didn't give me it. i had to go to work which we were late because she ignored us and didn't even say thank you or anything, left her machine there and walked away and acted like we were invisible , then people wonder why they don't get tips :) we don't mind tipping but who actually gives good service not even when it's convenient:) work better . read more
