The ingredients are definitely better than your typical sushi spot, you can tell the quality right away. I really appreciated the ratio of rice to fish. A lot of places overload their rolls with rice, but this spot keeps a nice balance. Spring Roll: An interesting concept using rice paper as the wrapper, but it didn't quite work for me. The tuna was a bit rubbery, making it very chewy. Camel Back: Good flavor and very enjoyable overall. My only complaint is the portion size, $15 for just 4 pieces felt a little light. Try Me Roll: My favorite roll of the night. Great balance between fish and rice, and overall the most satisfying. Overall: I'd come back if I were in the mood for a local sushi spot with good-quality ingredients. Came here after we changed our original Valentine's Day plans and honestly it was the best decision we could have made. From the moment we walked in, the service was warm, attentive, and made us feel so welcomed. The service was superb, and so was the sushi. A little pricey, but not too bad. Overall, everything was quite satisfying, except that their sound system was hard on the ears. Not a good speaker system, and even though I am pretty "hip", their music was very hard-core for dining to. Fortunately, my mother and father-in-law, are slightly hard of hearing and so it did not bother them. Haha! (you will see them in the photo having a great time... It was his birthday!) It gets very busy and this place is popular, since it's small inside, it may be loud for some, but I love it: Located in a quaint spot near Laguna Botanical preserve, this place is authentic, sushi chefs have been there for years. The service and quality of the fish is outstanding. They even had Japanese sea urchin, and fresh wasabi. We love sitting at the sushi bar and getting to know our chefs. This is what it's about. All the nigiri we ate was outstanding. Going to Japan is on the bucket list, but we've never been to a sushi place that actually MAKES their own sake. It's very impressive. Everyone was so welcoming, the chefs were kind and tended to me whenever my plate was empty, the servers never stopped tidying and keeping my drink full, and the music was so good too! There's a sushi joint tucked into a strip mall that time forgot, next to a dry cleaner where the starch is probably older than the patrons. Jizake Sushi. Blink and you'll miss it. My wife had--fifteen years of parking right in front of it, and it never even registered on her radar. That tells you something. We gave it a shot, riding in on our e-bikes like hopeful pilgrims in search of something unexpected. The outdoor setup was about as inviting as a folding chair in a storage shed. A makeshift wall tried--bless its heart--to block out the roar of Crown Valley Parkway. It didn't. It felt like dining in someone's cheap backyard, the kind where lawn chairs double as dinner seating and ambiance comes courtesy of muffler noise. Service? Adequate. Sushi? Actually not bad. Fresh fish, handled with care. But even good cuts of toro lose their charm when you're staring at the rear end of a strip mall, serenaded by traffic and surrounded by plywood pretending to be atmosphere. Maybe if this place were dropped into a funkier setting, somewhere with a little soul, it might've worked. But here, in this sad little concrete purgatory, the experience fell flat. They've been here a while, which tells me someone out there loves it--maybe they see something we don't. But for us? This was a one-and-done kind of love affair. After so many good recommendations from friends and family I decided to go here for my birthday yesterday. Man what a mistake. Service was fine nothing too great but nothing bad. But the sushi... are all these reviews real? Some of the worst salmon sushi and albacore I've ever tasted, had to spit out one of my salmons, and don't even get me started with the spicy tuna they call spicy tuna. That is no spicy tuna, that is literally canned tuna with mayo and a pebble of spice. Pretty wild this place is above 4 stars. If you know what sushi is then I don't recommend coming here, the fish does not taste right at all. I Even got some uni and that was not the uni I'm used to. I ordered a California roll and it came with no avocado... I was so confused, server said that it's a separate up charge now. Idk who made that call but charging $8 for the smallest roll of j imitation crab and rice is ridiculous. The server did not tell us till after it came out & It does not specify that on the menu. I know I am under the impression like everyone else in the world that a California roll comes with avocado by default. Every other roll we ordered that mentioned avocado, they put a molecule size worth. Change your prices if you can't afford putting out decent food because tell me why the rolls are the size of a quarter now when I can get better higher quality sushi down the road at muse. They were busy today and I am happy. Second time this week to support my community business. Per usual they are slammed when opened at 5pm. Sadly, happy hour is no longer since the pandemic , but Instead I just choose to put in my order to go and eat at home. My usual to go order is : 2 orders of crunchy tempura shrimp sushi, side of extra fresh ginger $2.00 , and spring rolls with an order of seaweed salad. Love it! Tip: they have an outdoor patio area that one can eat at with heaters if you choose. You can also sit at the bar inside if tables are not available: it gets packed so go at the best time bet 5pm-6pm. Let me preface by saying that I will pay a lot for really good sushi but I found this place VERY expensive for a decent so-so sushi (and I know my sushi). The rolls were smaller than average. The sushi were not that tasty and were also small portions. The MP of uni was $26 and they were not that great either (so disappointing as they're my fave). We have been there many times they open at 5:30 and let me tell you , there was a line already 10 people wanting to get in to sit at the sushi bar and for good reason... The sushi is basic in many ways but it's very fresh and delicious. We really love their crispy rice we had two orders . the yellowtail which was so buttery and delicious and the blue fin tuna...
