Food was good. Staff were good. Prices a bit high. I will go back. And I will recommend zenos to others.

Nice Neighborhood Italian with good menu. Stopped in for lunch today while I was out taking photographs of the area. Being a Sunday, a lot of places were closed but Zeno's on the west side of Troy was open and I was looking for either Italian or a good American Diner. Therefore Zeno's it was. It's a storefront in a strip mall anchored with a Food LIon on one end. Bit deceiving in size from the outside but opens up into a nice dining area after you get inside. You walk in and regulars know to seat themselves. Others like myself who don't make it all the way back to the sign that says 'Seat Yourself" eventually get told that. As soon as you are seated, someone is there with a menu and to take your beverage order. Ordered half and half iced sweetened tea which was perfect. Would have been nice if someone had come by during the meal to top it off but that did not happen although when I was leaving, another server asked if I wanted to cup to go. The menu is impressive in size and variety and a lot on the menu appealed to me. Ended up ordering the Lasagna with Meat Sauce which also came with a side salad and bread Came our shortly thereafter and it was a pretty hot dish. I must say, I have never seen Lasagna in this format. I'm used to layer upon layer of large flat noodles with meat sauce in between. What was served did not look like the Lasagna I 'm used to but it did taste like Lasagna so I can't complain there. Side salad was OK but nothing special and I guess the term bread is a bit open. The break ended up being the bottom part of a hamburger bun with Garlic Butter on top. Not bad but not what you would expect in an Italian Restaurant. Food was OK but the particular item I had was average at best. Probably there are a lot of other items on the menu that might be more to my liking. Menu pricing is very reasonable. Service is pretty good but while they may have been short staffed, the dining room was not crowded. Point being a large party left shortly after I sat down and 15 minutes later the table still had not been bused. Dining room is nice and has a couple of large TV's so I got to catch a bit of the Green Bay/Panthers game although that is not the reason I was here. It's worth another shot and will make a point of giving it a try the next time I am in the area so I can explore more of the menu. read more

Stopped here for dinner as I was in the area. It's located in a strip mall type place. Fairly large dinning room. The staff is really friendly and outgoing. The food was okay the garlic bread was just hamburger buns with melted garlic butter spread on it. Not something I'd expect from an Italian restaurant. The cheese for the lasagna and chicken parmigiana was just slices of cheese. Should've been shredded cheese. Doubt I'd go back if I'm in the area again. read more

My son and I went to this place and it was absolutely horrible. First they brought us the wrong food, blamed it on the cook and tried to get us to buy it, we both said no we want what we ordered. When the waitress brought the right food it was cold and the calzone was literally almost nothing but bread. My husband and I are visiting the area and decided to stop in for lunch. My husband had a sub and I had a salad. My salad was nice. My husband liked his sub okay, but felt it was kind of saucy. The menu is extensive and everything was very reasonably priced. The wait staff was excellent, very friendly folks. Overall, we both that it was okay. Not the best we have had but adequate for the area/price. read more

My family and friends all love Zeno's. We live down in Charlotte, but my parents live at Lake Tillery where we regularly make trips out to go boating during the summer. My parents tried Zeno's and liked it...then I tried it and was down right shocked by the amazing food as not a lot of people live out in the area where I wonder how they survive, but the food is so good given a choice I'd head to Zeno's for every meal. My wife loves the eggplant parm; the pizzas are great; I had a calzone unlike any I'd had in 20 years since my favorite place in Charlotte closed. Zeno's is way better than anything I've found in Albemarle where not uncommon when we finish a day on the lake we head there for dinner even with taking us 30 minutes the opposite direction of heading home. read more

We decided to get a bite to eat before we got to our campground. Wow, I forget how lucky we are in the Tidewater area when it comes to good food. The salad consisted of iceberg lettuce, a slice of pink tomato and a sprinkle of cheese. The spaghetti sauce tastes like it was straight from the jar! We also ordered a single serve pizza, which was huge (but why would you want to eat it.) . The crust and the sauce had no flavor but they tried to cover that up with a ton of cheese. As always Zeno's was delicious tonight. I had the grilled chicken Alfredo which comes with a garlic bun and side salad. The chicken was moist and the pasta had just the right amount of Alfredo sauce. I really wish they'd add a few slices of cucumbers or carrots to the salad but other than that the meal was delicious. Since we called in for pickup I enjoyed my meal at home but the inside of the restaurant is nice but a little to dark. read more

I have been here quite a few times and the food has always been good albeit a bit slow. Tonight we waited over 45 minutes for three entrees. We were told by our waitress that the kitchen got backed up because of to go orders. I just don't think they run the kitchen very efficiently. read more

I was in Troy visiting relatives and in need of a salad. I wasn't really sure where to go so I decided to try Zeno's. I had the grilled chicken salad (yes! Grilled not fried) and it was great. Lots of chicken with fresh lettuce and vegetables. I got it to go so cannot comment on table service but there is an awesome waitress who was very helpful with my order. She has reddish hair, very friendly. I look forward to my next visit so I can check out the Italian options. read more

Stopped in with friends, all order "Taste of Italy" pasta combo, very disappointed! Sauce tasted as if it was poured straight from a can. Felt the soup kitchen may have been better, lol. All of us girls said we would never go back. Service was ok but food wasn't even close. Sorry I wasted my money, but at least I know now. Zeno's is not what it once was. I hadn't been here in years and stopped in the other day and what we paid for was disappointing and not just forgettable but actually made me want to forget. Pretty much everything is either frozen or canned. Appetizers all that we had all tasted super frozen. Mushrooms were super watery inside which is what happens when frozen mushrooms are dropped in a fryer or even baked for that matter. Mushroom burger had canned mushrooms stuck on top of two patties actually thinner than McDonalds would use and slapped on the plate with what looks like iceberg shreds from a bag. My calzone had no ricotta and only used mozzarella like the Stromboli calls for - so either they were out of ricotta or just made it wrong. Spinach tasted frozen and not fresh inside the calzone and mushrooms were most definitely canned. This was a regretful $33 spent let me tell you that, and we love good food and love to eat but this was a total wash for us. read more

Been there several times over the last few years when traveling to the area. Open 7 days a week 11am to 10 or 11pm. They have a large menu and everything I have tried is very good. I like their Strombolis of which there are 7 different ones. Prices are very good and the servers are friendly and right there to make your visit a happy one. read more

We always get good food and good service at Zeno's. The food is excellent and the staff is very friendly. They have large tables for family get togethers or business meetings. Clean restaurant and they have TVs so you can watch CNN or the game while there. read more

We visited the restaurant for lunch on a Saturday. It was slow when we came in but quickly became busy. We ordered fried green beans for an appetizer and it was served with homemade ranch. They were cooked perfectly and the green beans were still crunchy. Two of us had Italian subs served hot. They were delicious and served with a pickle spear and a side of chips. The third person in our party had the New York Stromboli and enjoyed it as well. I would recommend this restaurant to get your Italian fix. read more

My chicken parmesan was over cooked and dry, my wife got the egg plant parmesan and the egg plant was so over cooked it had turned to mush. The appetizers (fried mushrooms, cheese sticks and chicken fingers) were over breaded and over cooked, they were so hard, like rocks. The pasta was over cooked and too wet. The restaurant atmosphere was below average and could be cleaner. I would not recommend. read more

My husband and I went to visit his parents and ordered food. Our chicken tenders were overcooked, the chips were like rubber, my mother in laws hamburger bun was rubbery. I called there to talk to a manager and the guy tried to tell me I ordered 2 and a half hours ago, and made excuses for why the food wasn't good. read more
