The little one had a great time and we felt very welcomed by the staff. However, this time we felt the experience was not as good and the main reason was because of the attitude & actions of some employees. First off, while we were checking in, the staff was not as friendly and helpful as they were on our previous visit. They had a bit of an attitude because we didn't make reservations before coming. We have a toddler- it's not always easy to preplan your whole day when you have a toddler. Reservations were not full so we were able to go right in. Later on, my granddaughter, who will be three in a month, wanted to play in the area marked for children two & under. At the time, there were no other children playing in that area, so we let her play. An employee walked by and asked how old she was. We told her and she rudely said that she had aged out and that she needed to leave that area. So we left the museum. We could understand if there were children younger than her playing there at the time, but there was no one else in there at all! And my granddaughter is a toddler, not a 6 or 8 year old child, for goodness sakes! It was silly. Use common sense and reasonable discretion when deciding when to enforce certain policies! But truly, the rude & condescending attitude of the employee is what made it so irritating. My daughter did reach out to the Executive Director to discuss the situation and received an apology, so we will give them another chance next time my daughter & granddaughter come to visit. The place is pretty small overall and I would not recommend for older kids as all of the exhibits/play spaces are limited and really geared for younger kids. I personally think $12 per person for admission is a bit much for what the place actually has to offer, but as long as my granddaughter is entertained, we are willing to pay it. She wil likely "age out of it" in a few years unless they add some new & more advanced exhibits/play areas.

The Coastal Discovery Museum came up in a search of things to do on a rainy day in Hilton Head…read more While there is a museum component in the main house, much of the attractions are outdoors, so something to keep in mind should you visit when it's raining or when the weather isn't ideal. The outdoor component includes several boardwalks, sculptures, a butterfly enclosure, and gardens. It's meant to introduce you to the coastal ecosystem and marsh life, which makes it quite unique. Admission is complimentary and there's a decent amount of parking. The main house and museum (the Discovery House) I would rate a 3.5 out of 5 stars. The volunteers on hand do a good job in welcoming guests and introducing the site so that guests aren't just left to wander on their own. While the permanent exhibits explaining the local area, ecosystem, and history were decent, I felt the more modern artwork was quite underwhelming, with many of the works on display having price tags (leads me to believe it was amateur artwork for sale). It left me wishing the weather was nice so I could explore the grounds, but that wasn't meant to be as there was a downpour of rain outside. If you have free time in Hilton Head, I'd recommend a visit to the Coastal Discovery Museum, but probably moreso when the weather is nice so you can explore the grounds.

I came for a concert and I will say that might be my new favorite indoor venue. The inside had…read morelots of bathrooms, food, and signage. The staff was also super friendly. My favorite part of the venue: the high bar seats behind the stage where I was able to feel super close to the band. I have not seen a venue like this before. My least favorite thing was the lack of outdoor signage on which line to get in. We winded up in the VIP/ Floor line and they were turning people away after they stood in the line for 30+ minutes as it moved up. Luckily, we were super nice as always, and they slapped some bands on our wrists and said to have fun! My FAV FAV part was how they have figured out rideshares! The staff asks the ride share who they are picking up and then call out your name. It felt like elementary school pick up all over again and worked so smoothly.

This was the first event we've ever been to at Enmarket Arena. It's about half the size of VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville which holds about 15,000 for concerts whereas Enmarket Arena holds about 7,500. Their minor league hockey team plays there as does their new women's basketball team like our Jacksonville Waves. The venue has been open for 4 years now and somehow, there are still some pain points with respect to customer service / interaction. There seem to be tiers of teams there and I can tell you this: every single person we interacted with that was wearing a blazer was rude to us for absolutely no reason. Even though we encountered more than a few folks who seemed almost mad to be working there I'd like to call out two AMAZING people that helped make our night awesome. These two folks were from other teams (not wearing blazers). First, I'd like to thank Sheila for being a warm, kind hearted person who was just a joy to interact with from the moment we got to the arena until we left. We roamed a lot, so we ran into her more than a few times. Every time we did, she was smiling, helping someone with something and being upbeat. I'd also like to say thank you to Adrienne, our go-to person at the concession stand by section 102. Like Sheila, she was warm, kind and just a very nice person. She happens to know Detroit very well so we had a great conversation about traveling around Michigan as kids. The show itself had a surprising amount of production issues, which I've never seen at a Weird Al concert. Miscued backdrop videos and delayed audio triggers happened a few times through the show, which was just odd to see. Al is a pro though, so he pushed through them without missing a beat or complaining to the crowd about it. I've included photos of us with the workers I shouted out along with a photo of Lauren talking to Weird Al after the show. If you go to the original post in our Facebook group, you'll also see a few long video clips of the opening of the show because I always love how he starts the show from backstage. Another great experience from Weird Al is in the books. Now we have to wait for Tallahassee in September before we see him again. Beautiful gem that unfortunately hidden off the beaten path! Once you walk in you are drawn in by…read morethe modern feel of the lobby with its local art installations. It is spacious yet cozy. The auditorium is attractive and inviting. The sound is amazing. The bathrooms are clean and well maintained. I am here for TEDx talks and this is the perfect venue as it highlights area of our community not often utilized. The parking is not ideal, however, the sponsors have made the best of it. The entryway is welcoming and I hope to attend future events here.
