What a trip! This interactive and satisfying exhibit left me super chill and inspired to install some elements in my home. They encouraged the use of mood enhancers but they're not necessary if you enter with an open and appreciative mind. Several large spaces allow for free-roaming interaction with a humungazoid sand table with special effects and smaller rooms with comfy bean bag chairs where I stared at the ever changing ceiling for at least a half hour in each. You can expect huge and dynamic LED-based mandalas, a laser/mirror room, art reactive to your movement, and more. All of the actors had polished performances and I loved their costumes. At $49 a ticket, I feel it's rather cost-prohibitive but I really enjoyed my visit which lasted 2 hours. I super recommend it! NOTES/TIPS: **Bag check. Came here Saturday night. It's right by Madison square garden. We arrived on time and the activity started maybe 10 minutes later. The whole experience seems like a perfect place to do acid and trip lol. Very freaky and cool. The officers or actors were very convincing and funny. Each room had a different themed lights and I enjoyed that. The only thing that peeved me there was no clear instructions on completing the mission. My friend and I kinda gave up once the aliens came out and things got weird. read more

Vague and unclear about your bag policy. Yesterday (Sunday, January 26, 2020), I was excited to celebrate my Birthday at your space. I had a crossbody purse on me (MZ Wallace Small Sutton - 9. 8 in L × 5.5 in W × 10.2 in H) that was considered a small size when I bought it but staff/management said it was too big. I wish I had known beforehand that I should not have brought my purse. You had offered to check it but my wallet would not fit in my pants pocket. Since your policy was not clear on this I am giving you this poor rating. I want to see your entity do well but I am disappointed that your policy on your website and your tickets are not clear about bags in general. If a purse falls into that category then indicate it. I would recommend that you say do not bring a purse or if you can offer a locker for a purse then you may not have this issue again. Investigate getting a locker for purses. I would like to return again but I can't throw away $50 like this. Please make your policy clear. Customer service was wonderful regardless. I didn't even want to challenge the situation because I had no energy to do so. It was not worth it. So Adventurers you want to try something immersive and interactive ? This place would be the place! Arriving wasn't that hard, neither was check in. They have coat check that is mandatory for anything bulky and such. Cameras are allowed but ZERO flash photography for the reason that it would ruin the entire effect. Once checked in you have to take a series of 'tests' for survival rate on the 'new planet' (mine was 12% lol). You're transported to a different world with very fun but restrictive actors. Everything was legit the coolest! Once inside the exhibit you have plenty of interactive instagram worth photog chances through the entire thing. I mean the art and visual structures were phenomenal! I was obsessed with the infinity room...so peaceful given that its dark and optical fibers that remind you very much like Avatar or the Japanese Infinity rooms. I loved it! My other favorites were the "rain study001" and the "birth of the universe"! Photographically speaking it was a wonderfully done exhibit. The actors were amazing (my personal favorite was Lynch, she was just lovely). Though I will say some of it was confusing because you had to be 'kidnapped' by and entity for receive a dot, and I think maybe a wooden keepsake? Not sure on that part but you have to be aware of the shows they put on every hour I think to gather all the pieces. While it has hints of being an escape room its more of a fun lets work on a few puzzles and enjoy the ambiance of the entire show. You have to have real issues not to like this place. Get your head in order before entering and have no plans that you have to rush for and just explore. I had the same idea thinking it's in and out within 15 mins but not true. There's an entrance procedure to give you some info and theatrics but once you're in it's a whole different world of lights and ambient music. Zero Space is a place deep within us to explore being centered. It has some of the best lighting and sound I have ever seen in an immersive experience. $50 is a bit steep for once a week but way cheaper than therapy! So think of it like that. There's a bar inside in case you need to loosen the senses to stare into oblivion. I can't wait to go back and spend some alone time. I walk by this space a lot and finally decided to check it out as part of Daybreaker. Definitely one of the coolest spaces I've been to for a dance party. Jumping up and down in main room and hall was a phenomenal experience. The decor and interactive display make dancing here feel like you're part of a movie, or stumbled upon chic, decadent secret club in hidden NYC. (But also blissfully less decadent since we trade in alcohol for smoothies and breakfast bites at 7am.) It's definitely an magnificent experience. I loved the numerous other rooms you can hide out and chill in. You can choose to plop on a giant beanie and just stare at the beautiful immersive galactic ceiling, or walk around exploring the different spaces and installation. Between the munching and dancing... I'm pretty sure I missed a few rooms, and would love to come back for another event. When I first saw reviews of ZeroSpace I thought it was just another one of the many Instagram farms that charges 30 dollars to populate your feed with some cool photos. I was incredibly be happy to be wrong upon my visit, it's a part art installation, part interactive performance all topped with a healthy dose of wtf for good measure. Definitely recommend engaging with your surroundings beyond just the super cool photo ops as there is a lot more there if you choose to explore it. This place is so much more than you think it is. On a surface level, it's somewhere to go to take cool photos for your Instagram, which is fine. But once inside you realize you're actually part of an immersive story. It's way more than a bunch of trippy lights (although those are really cool too and I could've laid there for hours staring at them). Don't come here with a strict time limit -- plan to stay for a few hours and explore and really pay attention to what's going on around you. Being a native New Yorker, I'm always interested in going to these pop up exhibits, especially if they have huge and color fixtures to look at (interactive experiences are always a plus as well). Have been on hiatus from reviews and am unfortunately back at it per Zero Space's manager recommendation to review a bad experience. Short version - save your money and skip. With so many exciting interactive art installations and exhibits in NY these days, I thought this would be a fun spectacle. Actually it's $50 to visit a very DIY styled series of small rooms with well-used (aka dirty feeling) bean bag chairs and sitting areas so you can watch light projections on the walls from large lamp fixtures. Neat idea that you've traveled the galaxy and are in an area inhabited by extraterrestrials who roam the area (aka two people in pretty cheap gown and mask costumes), but honestly I walked in and was disappointed immediately. If you have a good guide to start your experience, you're told to ask the 4-5 guides for "missions" as part of the experience. Took me 10 mins to even find someone to ask (small space but not many people and hard to spot them in the room). Make sure you come with a friend or are prepared to turn on your extraversion switch since most missions require other people. My mediocre experience totally bombed out when the girl (who I'd just met and was working with to solve a word puzzle) brought her proposed answer to a guide. English was obviously not her first language, and knowing the alphabet was fundamental to solving it. Our wonderful (sarcasm) guide laughed in her face, snorted "that's not it" and walked away. She and her boyfriend left promptly after. Way to be a jerk dude. Zero space, you owe me my money back and an apology. The coat check staff was more empathetic to the situation than the manager I told. You told me to write a review so you could point to a customer who concretely was dissatisfied. Here I am. It's hard to explain how not worth $50 this place is. It's basically screensavers meets children's museum meets stilted dash of Sleep No More. You see the ads and think it's going to be like Yayoi Kusama Infinity Mirrors and then you get there and realize why it was so easy to get tickets. In all seriousness, if this were free, I'm still not sure it would be worth taking the time out of your afternoon. It's completely underwhelming and I am convinced every five-star review on here is fake. We left after half an hour. I dont know how to explain and justify the price they charge for this underwhelming and mediocre place. There are literally 3-4 rooms with lighting, 10 ft of sand and 3 screens. That's all. They definitely don't have the best signage especially if you go at night.. but look for a dimly flashing door. There is a coat check, and you have to check in anything bigger than a clutch. So be prepared to downsize. So.. no spoilers here, At first you're put through this "quiz" and be ready that all the staff are taking this "mission" seriously. So if you're like me who can't keep a straight face when they command you army style, just try not to embarrass yourself. After they collect your data you go through these crazy light shows with great audio, and lots and lots colorful of visuals and you are now in a different planet. I think this is a great spot for photos as they do have incredible light installations and if you go at the time with less crowds, you might get some really cool shots. I didn't think this was a "bar" or a social place but there is food and drinks you could order and pay for. Like most interactive galleries this one also had a hidden lesson you can learn. Took a friend from out of town. Huge letdown - only a few "exhibits" and all weak. Not sure how people are spending hours here - everyone I saw spent about 1-2 mins in the rooms. No one seemed impressed. I can't speak to their opinions, tbh - but I can tell you my buddy & my reaction - don't waste your time or money here. The self-discovery element is a crock, imo. Giant disconnect from the marketing to the experience. Think cheese plate from the Fyre fest - Zerospace is the cheese plate. Summary - Cons:Lackluster, overhyped,expensive for what you get. Pros: Despite what others say, you'll only waste about 20 mins here total. So you don't lose the whole day, just your cash. read more

I wanted to like this experiential exhibit. However we got little to no direction on how to "experience" it and frankly that lack of direction left my friend and I unfulfilled and we were there just over 2hrs. Light spoilers ahead to make the most of your $50 tix and if you want to be an educated consumer that learns from our mishaps. After the guided parts, you will be in the open area to explore on your own. My notes: 1. There is a specific sequence of events in a shared experience that you need to do with your fellow strangers. I figured this out AFTER 1.5hrs of chilling in the rooms and wondering if something (anything) was going to happen. You need to do 4 exercises in total and you end up with a colorful diamond on your hand, and I loved the last experience because the actor was so good. 2. Don't aimlessly go through rooms. Stay in each room for maybe 10-15 mins and get to see the light/visual show and hear the sounds and chill out on bean bags. The point is to relax. Also don't step on people by accident. 3. RANDOM ALIEN THINGS DO HAPPEN, but you might not see it. We saw a convention/procession of aliens at one point. That was nearly after I got cabin fever being there 1.5 hrs. Again, you may or may not experience this bc I didn't see this happen again... 4. Aliens may (OR May Not) choose you to bring to a private room. I have no idea what goes on in there because I wasn't chosen. 5. There's some cool motion capture spots in the back. 6. Some actors are great and others aren't. Seek out the actors who are willing to help you explore! Also, don't try to interact with the aliens, they decide whether to come up to you or not, see #4 above. 7. I'm sure I still don't know what else the exhibit has to offer. Points #1, 3, 4, and 7 are the reasons I only gave 2 stars. There is a Very Clear Intent for the experience/exhibit but the experience is not consistent for all. My friend was definitely disappointed that she didn't get chosen to go to a private room with the alien. Also, I can see why people give 1 star when they don't even know about #1! I don't see a reason to be there longer than 90mins unless the show runners change(d) up the process. I was mentally exhausted after spending 2+ hours in the cold/dark in there. Ok so firstly, this isn't something I imagine EVERYONE will enjoy.. but that can be said about anything really. Some people will have the time of their life at a techno rave and some prefer a country concert. That being said, I think if you and your friends are the type to enjoy immersive performances and trippy lights/lasers then you'd have a nice time well worth the ticket. Here is my honest rating of the venue on a scale of 1-10: Actors- 9/10: as someone who has worked in an immersive experience before, I can relate to it being difficult sometimes to be in character all day. Guests who aren't enjoying themselves for whatever reason or can't detach from reality a little and play along really can kill your mood as an actor too. So I think everyone we encountered from general staff, to agents, to entities, did a great job. One actor was exceptionally lackluster early in the experience for us but I don't feel the need to specify who. I enjoyed the mood and vibe from the Entities (alien beings) very much. You can tell they enjoy creating the spiritual and metaphysical atmosphere by their demeanor and sporadic interactions with guests. You can't force anything with them so don't try. The more you just enjoy the environment, the more likely I'd say they are to feel compelled to interact with you in different ways. Art installations- 8/10: There are only a handful of larger pieces to experience, and another handful of smaller ones. I would not say the facility is that big. However, we did enjoy them. The entry experience was excellent, I won't spoil anything. I don't take any drugs but I still felt mesmerized :). Then there are a few separate rooms as you go through the main passages; my friend and I both wish we had relaxed in the first room with the "grassy meadow ceiling" for an entire hour.. definitely our favorite piece by far. So trippy and mesmerizing with the audio and visuals. Entities also interact with aspects of the installations in unique ways sometimes which is fun. Overall I definitely recommend this experience to anyone with an open mind and who enjoys audio visual exhibits. If you're not the type to be able to detach a little and immerse yourself in a new experience then it might not be the kind of thing for you. My friend and I had a great time though and plan to return to just relax and chill out in the rooms with a cocktail :). read more

A whole lot of meh. To start, you wait in a bar area for your group to go, but the bar has no alcohol. So it's just pretty boring. Then you go through a kind of orientation to be given the story of what you're going to do. A couple rooms of that and you're allowed into ZeroSpace. It's really just a few rooms (8 or so?) with some basic light displays and some bean bags to lay on. There's a sand room - it's literally just sand with some lights on it. The coolest feature was the fun house style video screens (think fun house mirrors, but digital). There's another bar inside the exhibit, but it's just energy drinks and cake pops. More bean bags to sit on and watch light displays that really aren't that inspiring. The hallways are just covered in gray tarps to look futuristic. Overall, a decent amount of promise that just falls short. read more

I've spent hours in galleries and immersive experiences that were true quality in the past, so I'm not overly negative or have to get my photo & get to the next thing. But this was truly a meager effort and a meager experience. But in the end, that would be fine if Zerospace lived up to an ounce of it's high cost. There was a scene in Wolf of Wall St where they talked up a penny stock like it was the single greatest investment ever, then they cut to an abandoned shack as the actual site of the "business." That is what Zerospace felt like to me. Come to think of it, most of the social media around Zerospace sounds just like the penny stock brokers - you don't want to miss the most mind-blowing trip ever, do you? Yes, you do - I'm just here leaving some breadcrumbs in the hope that 1 or 2 people aren't fooled like I was. I owe 2 friends a serious chit for this disaster. I appreciate the artist installation that went into this, but it's not enough to call it an "experience" when you really get walked through construction corridors and then in a big hall that takes 20 min to go through. Hi - Regular guy who went to Zerospace without any affiliation to it here, hoping to help anyone who couldn't make out what this place was or if it was good or not. After reading the reviews, seemed like a big gap with some having almost a chip on their shoulder for some reason. On the flip side, there were alot that defended Zerospace as if they owned it or their friends made it. So I went in with 2 colors in my head, more or less. Great or terrible. So I wiped those thoughts before I went. Having gone, I can safely say that there's no doubt, in my view, that it's terrible. The art is really weak - kind of like if your friend did it, it'd be hard to tell them honestly that you liked it. Even if it were great, the "experience" in the rooms gets old after about 2 minutes. So I guess the people who spent hours there delved into the tasks & "immersive story". I tried to get into that, but it was extremely cheesy and tbh, I didn't pay 50$ for an otherworldly "art experience like no other" to play some cheesy puzzles. The activities seemed more like a diversion from the fact that the art blew than anything else. I will say that the globe room is decent, but you really feel ultimately like you got scammed. & if you're like me, you'll feel like the 5 star reviews are either in on some scam or they're part of an "Emperor's new clothes" brainwashing to justify that they didn't in fact get duped. They did. I mean, I guess you could spend hours there, but you could also spend hours at the bus stop marveling at all the colors & shapes passing by - but that's free, & imo prob'ly more interesting. So I'm going to have to side with the 1 star reviewers - this place is crap. & it's doubly crap with the off the charts marketing and incessant reviews trying to refute the truth. & while the marketing looks amazing and some people's selfies look grt - keep in mind that selfie ppl who pay 50$ are going to work HARD to get that selfie money shot. I'd been wanting to visit ZeroSpace for months and finally made it out for a night party. Jonas Rathsman and other djs playing experimental electronic music all night tied together with the art on display was the perfect combination! Can't speak for regular museum hours, but the event really brought out a great crowd that was there for art and not just the photo op. Music was great and there were also drinks and vendors. Not sure if there's more to the museum but there were about 10 installations. Some were fully-immersive rooms, some smaller fixtures, others more interactive. read more

Really not worth your money.. The "art installations" aren't anything exciting. You can go to a normal nightclub for the same experience! you will spend most of your time (1-2 hours) on math equations and other random quizzes waiting for something better in the next room, but then you just exit again.. People said it doesnt have enough activities and it was small but I found it more personal and interactive. My tip to you is to take your time. Do not speed up each room and ask staff members for information. read more

4.5 stars! We got the night tickets with the interactive mystery to solve and no children alloud. Totally worth it! We were there from 7 pm until the very end when they close at 10pm. We initially skiped the mystersty and just walked around. There are 5 big rooms and about 8 mini peices of art, all interactive. Eventually we did solve the mystery as well, which was pretty fun. We we'rent totally sure how to do it. One of the entities took my boyfriend into a special room and explained to him and then he knew how to proceed. When we got there at 7 it was crowded, but by about 9ish it started to clear out a lot and by the end there was about 10 people left. Even though it was busy at 7 it's a big enough open space that we could still enjoy ourselves. A must see event, I highly recommend checking this out. I also recommend pregammimg it before you arrive, like we did ;) read more

I bought the ticket with my student ID so it was a reduced price. Even then, I thought the museum was a little bit too pricey for the quality of attractions. The main way the museum creates attractions is through projectors and sometimes spatial-motion sensors attached to projectors. This place is the place for some artsy instagram photos, but besides that, the technology in my opinion is a little bit outdated, in the sense that there are no holographic exhibits or artistic uses of AR, AI, etc. the exhibits are still pretty cool: there is a dome show that uses multiple projectors and specialized software to merge the images on the top of the inside of a dome. There's also a sand exhibit with psychedelic colors. There are mirrors that act as computer fun-house mirrors that distort your body. I didn't regret going in, but probably would not go again. read more

The concept of creating art with light is really cool and there were a couple of experiences I really enjoyed: The dome and what I'm calling the light forest. My boyfriend and I did the "show" experience and I was really into it until we actually reached "the other dimension".: There was no commitment to actually completing the "mission", one of the actors was either rude or strangely sassy when we asked for our second assessment, we didn't get it. The actors were entertaining and somewhat engaging but there's a chunk of plot line missing from the experience. That said, the exhibit was so small! We payed the $50 for the show experience and it just wasn't worth that price. The museum experience costs less and is closer to the value of this experience, in my opinion. read more

The intro rooms were quirky and fun. Agent Fenro and his partner were hilarious. Rooms and lights were engaging (especially the dome and grass room). However, when we walked into the interactive zone, we walked around aimlessly for about thirty minutes when another group started asking us questions. They were on a mission and told us to talk to the agents. After waiting for twenty minutes to get our first agent, he said he couldn't help he was the greeter agent. So then we waited for a different agent, and he acted surprised that we didn't know what was going on, and seemed peeved that the greeter guy didn't stop us or say anything. Then it took another twenty minutes waiting for the second agent... who had to run and disappeared for awhile. We just ended up leaving and couldn't experience the whole mission aspect because all the agents didn't seem to want to talk to us or engage with us; they also broke character to complain about the other agents not doing their job. read more

If you haven't experienced the intergalactic magic of ZeroSpace yet, I strongly urge you to go check it out! We experienced an epic journey into another dimension populated by infinitely loving entities who are way more evolved than us sweet little humans. I loved every second. This was a truly unique experience with a lot of dynamic visuals and a little fun for everyone. I just love to take pictures, and here you will find the most vibrant lights and fascinating exhibits as ZeroSpace try to make it like another space world!
