Tonight we ordered a medium pepperoni pizza & Bbq wings. The wings are bathing in sauce! Not awful but not crisp either. Maybe a bit too saucy. Came with 3 baby carrots... yesterday our wings came with handfuls of carrots so not sure why there's a lack in consistency. Anyways, let's get back to the pizza.. i give this pizza 0/10! Awful. So soggy, & SO much sauce. Overflowing in sauce. Cheese is too much, not melted completely, and greasy. The dough is beyond soggy there is no crunch to this. At least there's enough pepperoni to pick off to eat cause we are throwing this away. Not worth the money. The customer service was amazing. Our waitress was so nice. We ordered mozzarella sticks, spaghetti, soup and salad and the strip steak. They ran out of soup so I got the chili. It tasted a little burnt but it was edible. The steak was tender but not seasoned at all. Coming from the south we are used to steaks being seasoned. The burger was good. We arrived about 1 hour and 10 minutes before they were due to close, walked up and saw a sign on the door "closing early due to staff shortage" - this was on a Saturday evening during peak summer season. I had driven by this place a hundred times on my way up to Mt. Hood or over to Bend and finally decided to stop in. My wife and I were in the mood for pizza and wine. We were not to leave disappointed. This place has a wonderfully cozy feel. Their house wine is cheap and taste great. But it's their pizza that is outstanding! On advice from another customer we were told to order a side of their house ranch and dip our crust in it. This took our pizza to an entirely new level! We've since been back here several times. Decent for what it is, but not super high of the food quality vs. food quantity ratio. The portion sizes are all huge - Fred Flintstone big - and perfect for a family dinner on the mountain. I am gluten free and had no issues with the potatoe skins or burger on lettuce I ordered. The side salad without croutons I ordered instead of fries was literally just lettuce and dressing hence the 4 stars instead of 5. It's a family tradition to stop and enjoy a gi-normous pizza at the Zig Zag Inn after snow tubing at Mount Hood Ski Bowl. We roll in with our brood of cold, hungry kids and are always well received and accommodated. I love the rustic cabin ambiance. It's super cozy and laid back. Don't forget quarters for the kids! They love playing the old school arcade games in the back. The pizzas are huge and filling with a thick crust. Gluten free? No problem, they have a GF crust! The wings are also very yummy!! I know they have a full menu with many options but we never make it past the pizza and wings. We've been there during quieter times and peek season. Sometimes it's a wait to be seated and sometimes we are seated immediately. We don't care either way, it's a must for the kids! Don't let my review scare you if kids aren't your thing. Came in late in the night 30min from closing. The lady was super nice, they only had one thing that wasn't available anymore cause again they're fairly close to closing so thats fully understandable. Our food came out amazing, didn't feel like it was rushed, and the burger I had (Mountain...) is quite possibly the best burger I've had in that price point ($12) Would definitely go again and would definitely recommend people to go visit this old style classic family owned diner/bar read more

What a great little spot. Walked over here after getting off the Hunchback trail, they didn't flinch when I walked in withy backpack. The Timberline burger is 2/3 lb of beef, perfect after a 2-day hike, but I couldn't finish the fries. Washed it all down with a craft ale, great way to end a hike!! What a find...we've driven by a ton of times, but finally made it as they were one of the only places open. A huge mistake that we hadn't been before and we'll definitely be back. A mountain local FAVORITE that doubles as a tourist hot spot on the run to and from Timberline or Meadows. We're here A LOT. I LOVE the staff here. So kind and upbeat! My family ordered 2 pizzas 1 calzone 1 onion order. The pizzas were decent the calzone was also decent quality, the Burger was where they fell way short.... Came here after coming off the mountain getting our Christmas tree, there was ample parking and we were able to head strait to the back bar area after arriving. The staff was friendly and the place was clean. I was surprised by their large menu and decided on the prawn fettuccini. This came out with nice presentation but was very blah as far as flavor goes..... pretty much tasted like nothing. My husband ordered the chicken alfredo and said the same thing. My friend who go the french dip said it tasted like it was microwaved. Overall the food was horrible but not great either. Came here after skiing and was starving. It smells amazing when you walk in and had a very charming feel, but the food fell flat. The prices are decent, but I had a Reuben that was mostly sauerkraut with some chunks of very chewy corned beef. My husband had a calzone that had very little meat in it and probably needed an extra 10 minutes in the oven. Nice place to stop in a pinch after a day on the mountain but wish the quality of food was better. read more

Found this great restaurant on a recent visit to the Mount Hood area. Great food and drinks at a great price. Had fish & chips on the first visit, very tasty. On the second visit, it was a Thursday night and during football season they have a great appetizer menu in the bar area on Monday and Thursday nights. Had small pizzas and jalapeño poppers which were both great. All this and outstanding service. What more can you ask? Do not miss this place if you are in the area! Awesome!!! We ordered pizza, wings and a huge veggie salad. All Togo. They were super friendly and pizza was cooked perfectly with huge chunks of bacon. I'd hit up this place again!!! This is our favorite breakfast place on the mountain! We like the food. The breakfasts are consistently good and I especially recommend the huckleberry pancakes! We also appreciate the attentive service, and the remodeled log cabin ambiance with the woods out back makes this place special. The major remodel done some dozen years ago on this historic building is first rate! Zigzag, OR, who thinks up these names?? like Zzyzx Rd. (formerly Camp Soda) off the 15Fwy in California. And the city of Azusa which was name so after they couldn't think of anything else and said hey "everything from A to Z in the USA" put it together and what do you get? AZUSA! (Well not really but it's an old joke) Ok enough of that. While in the Mt. Hood Village are the hubby and I stopped at the Zig Zag Inn for dinner. Walking in you immediately notice the antler chandeliers hanging overhead. At least it's the first thing I noticed as my husband was scheming on how to cut one down and run off with it.....obviously that didn't happen. Our server was an older gentlemen who gave me the feeling that he was about to make me an offer I couldn't refuse and if I did my body would never be found after being dumped in the Mt. Hood wilderness. But with that said he was actually very nice in an Italian Mob sort of way, but nice nonetheless. My husband ordered a 1/2 order of St. Louis pork ribs and I opted for Alex's burger. I got that one because it came with jalapeños and boy did it. He liked the ribs, well cooked and seasoned, with steamed veggies and coleslaw. The burger was good my only grip was that buy the time I got done with the 1st half of my burger the bottom bun of the other half was soaked and mushy with all the jalapeño juice. My only other grip which unfortunately is out of the control of the restaurant, so I don't hold it against them, were the people sitting in the table next to us. I did not particularly enjoy trying to eat as I listen to them talk about how one of their buddies got herpes from another one of their friends after they had unprotected sex....and that's just for starters. If someone asked me for a restaurant recommendation in the Mt. Hood area, Zig Zag Inn would be at the top of the list. This is one of the few places that we remembered fondly during our last vacation here two years ago. Zig Zag Inn is conveniently located on Hwy 26 in the tiny town of Zig Zag as you zig zag your way up the mountain. This decor is warm and cozy with many booths, antlers displayed prominently and a cozy fireplace. It is, or at least feels, like the kind of place where the locals come to eat. This restaurant serves hearty food; the perfect kind to nourish the body after a hard day of skiing, or in my case screaming for my life as I try to maneuver the Buttercup trail. We came as a group of 13 and the restaurant was extremely accommodating. We called ahead to make reservations and they allowed us to preorder our food. When we were seated at the restaurant, the food came quickly. I highly recommend doing this if you are with a large group. We ordered a variety of appetizers and entrees. Everyone was happy with their selection. The highlights for our group was the fried oysters, fried zucchini, and fried mozzarella sticks, onion rings.... pretty much anything fried! These guys really know how to work a fryer. The other entrees were not fantastic, but very good considering the location and price. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meal. Also, be aware that the large pizza is very large! We ordered a large for our 5 kids, but I think the pizza could have fed an entire village. This is definitely a great place to stop for a hearty meal, a cold glass of beer, and friendly service. read more

It is always hard to downgrade a place, especially, when you have been going in there for so long and may not be done going in there. We went up here when my sister came to visit and I kept telling her to order the rib eye, they are great. Three of us ordered the rib eye steaks and all three were extremely tough cuts of meat. My son had the new york strip and it was super tender. My sister had a plate full of tough tendon, that is when my husband said his last rib eye was this way. There is just no reason for three bad steaks coming out. I did ask if she wanted to go back a few days later and give them another shot on a different dish. she wasn't going for it. read more

What a great find. I was not expecting much from this place. But it ended up being one of my favorite "casual" meal spots during our visit to Portland! We stopped by on our way back from Mt. Hood. Being from Hawaii (and also being a bit sheltered) meant that I had just gotten to snowboard, let alone SEE SNOW for the FIRST TIME. I will not divulge my age, but I figure that I am somewhat of a rare case. Anyway, I took a beating up there. I had face-planted more than once (goggle imprint only) and swore to my family that I had minor brain trauma and frostbite. They simply laughed and looked through more photos of me, stuck in the snow on my back like a cockroach, in my puffy red jacket with my snowboard in the air. So I told them that If I wasn't going to a hospital, I better be going somewhere to have a good meal. I got that good meal at Zig Zag Inn. Their pizzas were great! The small "personal pan" was more than enough for one. We got a medium (greek one with the artichoke, feta, olives and red onions) and it took up a third of the table! My fiance enjoyed his hot roast beef sandwich with mashed potatoes. It was doused in rich, dark gravy. Yumm. My sister enjoyed the fish & chips....huge chunks of fish with crispy fries and slaw. My dad's halibut sandwich seemed similar....both were good-sized portions. The garlic toasts that accompanied most of the meals was so good. Thick slabs of buttery goodness. So wait. Here's the kicker: you want to know what I had, right? Yea, you do. Since I claimed that I had minor brain trauma from snowboarding, and if this was my last meal to have, it should have been something extraordinary or out-of-this-world, right? Well......first, I asked for a hot tea. And what I ordered for lunch happened to be the most unsuspecting dish of all. I had.................[are you in suspense yet?]..........the cobb salad. It was DELICIOUS. It blew me away. The chicken was flavorful and juicy and cut into thin slivers. The lettuce was fresh and crisp. And it was topped off with tomatoes, avocado, olives, and hard boiled egg. Even their Blue Cheese was good (and I always get it on the side since I usually do not like BlueCheese). And now I'm just getting way too into things that normal people probably won't appreciate, but can I also add that their dressing (I asked for ranch) was perfectly chilled, and of perfect consistency? And that my friends, is how a cobb salad should always be done. I would go back and face that mountain (repeat on the bruises and minor brain trauma) just to get that salad again. read more
