After a long drive and settling in to our little a-frame "cabin" in the woods down the lane, we walked up to this charming, funky pizza place up by the main road. We loved the quirky decor showcasing the local history of this establishment over the years including vintage photos and letters, and of course the big ivy covered bear statue right out front. The star of this show however was the pizza. Thin, handmade crust with yummy toppings, also cold beer with frosty mugs, bottomless root beers, tasty and appetizers. Last night we made plans for a Father's Day get together at the Ivy Bear restaurant. It has been a few years since we have visited this pizzeria. I am writing this current review as a warning to anyone that may think this restaurant is the same as their memories of just a few years. We entered the parking lot to find garbage, broken down cars, overgrown, weeds, and plants. We entered the restaurant to find three tables piled with 30 dishes. The table that was open that we sat at was sticky and dirty. As you can guess we decided it wasn't safe to eat there. On our way out there was a homeless individual standing just inside the door that I can best describe as washing himself with a cup of water. I saw no employee coming in nor leaving. The case is behind the checkout counter containing pop and what have you were nearly empty. Save yourself a trip. Before heading out, I did check Yelp to see if they were still in business. A few views on Yelp were from the past. It is so unfortunate that these owners let this once nice little pizzeria go to. H _ _ L. I posted one star by mistake and I can't remove it. First, this restaurant IS NOT CLOSED. After talking with staff they realized that was an error and are working to fix it. We got pizza there on 9/15/25. Alright, moving onto my review. Self-described pizza snob here. Grew up in NY and worked at pizza shops throughout HS and college. I'm very judgmental when it comes to pizza. We went here based on local recommendations and got two pizzas to go. They were fantastic. Sauce was great, pizza was thin and crispy, toppings were delicious (they make their cup pepperoni, sausage, and Canadian bacon in house). We got it to go, but the atmosphere inside was really cool and fun. We'll have to go back and dine in. Even with the 20 minute drive home before eating, the pizza was delicious. I can imagine it's even better in person. Cody made the pizzas and he was great, too. If you like to dip in ranch, grab a few with your pizza. Seemed like it was made in house and had great flavor. Very confusing experience today. I walked in around 4 pm and there was no one to be found anywhere - the open sign was on, as well as a giant flashing sign advertising the pizza. My fiancé and I rang the bell for help and waited about ten minutes for someone. Comically, a SHIBA INU came running at us (luckily she was friendly). We hoped the dog would alert the staff that they had customers, but no such luck. The dog wandered out and came back a few minutes later, and still no human beings in sight. I felt a little creeped out by the seemingly abandoned restaurant (the only car in the lot was a beater with a smashed window), so we left, making sure the random dog didn't run out behind us. Overall a super weird experience at dinner time on a Friday?? I guess don't take my money? Was kind of disappointing because I have driven past so many times I was excited to try. read more

This place is welcoming, the staff are kindhearted and passionate and the food is great. We came in here starving after a 8 mile hike and the frosty cold mug with a canned beer was exactly what we needed. Eddy even offered us some home made fresh root beer. From the other reviews it sounds super tasty. We got Chicken Wings which were buffalo and their dry spice habanero. In my opinion as a space lover those dry spice ones really hit the spot with a hearty douse of blue cheese to go with it. The pizza crust was super good and the pizza was nice and cheesy and full of toppings. We did what would be compared to their supreme pizza with their home made veggies and meats. It was so satisfying to eat after our hike. All together for 3 beers, wings, and a large pizza after tip was about $70. The service was really great. They really lean into the fun of the ivy bear as he dresses up in costume to come to your table taking pictures with kids or you take a photo and get a discount for each time you come in. read more

This review is long overdue. We had just moved to Oregon and were out enjoying the summer and found this place on our way back to town. We were hungry, 3 adults and 3 kids in the car pumped cause we found a pizza place on the way home. But, it was summer hours and apparently they'd had really bad issues with their phones the prior week or two. Google and the sign said they were closed, I got out and tugged on the door, locked! Got back in the car and figured might as well call the number just in case. Someone answered and I told him we were parked right out front. He said "give me a minute to turn on the oven and unlock the door" then invited us all in for a great meal. Oh my this place was a breath of fresh air for my husband and I! We are visiting from seaside for our 1st wedding anniversary. We are from San Diego. So we used to eat sooo much pizza back home. But I gotta say , this place was perfect. Everything is homemade... the menu is amazing! Something for literally everyone ! The employee was so adorable and sweet and she gave us a cup of the owners homemade root beer. Which was sooo good. It is family owned and operated and you can tell. Ivy Bear has really good pizza...more on the 4.3 level then a plain ole 4. The smell of the pizza was outstanding, the flavor of the sauce was great...a little sweet, a little spicy, but not over the top. The onions had slightly burnt ends, so you know they were actually cooked unlike a few places in the area. The sausage was different...but good with lots of flavor. The pizza itself was not too greasy, which shows they put enough, but not too much cheese, on the pie. And the lack of grease shows a better quality cheese than most. Also, I knew this had potential when the box did not weigh 5 lbs when I carried it to the car. More is not always better. And there homemade root beer was great...not too sweet but plenty flavorful. The gentleman at the counter was great: a mother and child came in, asked if they could use their bath and were allowed despite not being a customer. Yes, this is out of town...about 10 minutes east of Sandy on 26, but we will be making this trip a lot. Definitely a recommend! read more

This place is excellent! The meat is hand cured, the vegetables are fresh, the sauce, dough, everything is homemade and fresh. There are pictures and artifacts all over the building from the Oregon Trail historical documents and photos. It's truly amazing and the owner Scott is just so pleasant and interesting to talk with. The pizza is really good, homemade toppings, and quick to bake. The usually have only one gent who does everything (since Covid), but they've survived! Unfortunately the parking lot is usually full of used cars, which makes us and a lot of folks we know skip it. Only recently we were told the owner buys old cars at auction and flips them...he just doesn't flip them very fast and keeps quite a few. Get pizza or garlic knots to go, and you won't be disappointed. Tip the poor guy behind the counter well-he's working his heart out! If you can find parking, there's always seating. Best garlic knots in a 50 mile radius at least! Really good pizza and friendly staff. The sausage and meatballs are homemade and delicious. The place itself is like an awesome little museum with what the walls are decorated with and an old Oregon trail era wagon in the back of the restaurant. O, and when Covid hit and toilet paper was sold out everywhere, they gave out rolls with their pizzas because indoor dining wasn't allowed and they had extra. Haha much appreciated! Delicious pizza, homemade root best made with essential oils, great wings...not much more you could ask for. Inside definitely has been worn over the years but enjoyed reading the old papers from the early 1900s in our table. Stumbled across this fantastic gem pizzeria along our impromptu Oregon adventures. All meats are known to be cured and handled in house, and rightfully so, as the habanero pepperoni was just the right hint of spice and sweetness that a pepperoni balance ought to have. The crust is both a mixture of chewy and thin crust which is just what we love and like. Cheese is all oozey and melty just hanging off of each slice is what tells you the pizza is cooked to perfection. I started the night with their house salad, which is usually a risky choice. Ingredients can be dry or questionable but not theirs. The fresh spring mix tasted buttery and had the perfect texture, the croutons were a pleasant surprise, even the black olives were tasty - and I generally view them distasteful otherwise. The best part was the homemade ranch! They had the most appetizing pizza combinations, but I went with a cheese pizza for my children's sake. Ok - I picked up my son at Windells camp and we were starving and saw this place had good reviews . OMG.
