Bartenders are nodding out, the man with the long hair in a ponytail and the woman with the brunette hair were clearly nodding our the entire night and kept going to the bathroom. Male bartender with the long hair in a pony tail added multiple extra drinks to our tab and threw a little bit of a temper tantrum when he was asked to correct the tab and take off drinks that we did not purchase. We drank cocktails only and had beers on the tab, he complained "he was going to have to pay for them himself." Not sure how that is my problem but maybe you should have gotten them on the correct tab in the first place. Taller lady brunette bartender seems to have some kind of jealously issues as she was extremely rude to my wife and suggested that she was on drugs at one point, looking at previous reviews it seems that this is a common occurrence. She must have been projecting a bit because this was the one clearly doing drugs with the male ponytail bartender. Extremely slow bartenders (probably because they are on drugs) and super longs waits to get a drink. Won't come back here. Top of the park which is across the street is a much better atmosphere with actual knowledgeable bartenders and real drinks. Countless better bars in the town such as: Top of the Park, The Pub, Roomers, Big Slide, Wiseguys and Cloudsplitter. If you're looking for a dive bar that stays open late, has lots of funny drunk people and cheaper drinks, this is the place! Super fun vibe for mid 20ish people and people who want to stay up late. Only came into drink after everywhere else closed but wasn't disappointed. All the bartenders and bouncers were nice/respectful too. After an hour standing bar side with a group...A friend went to the bathroom when he returned the full beer had disappeared off the bar. Later Turned my back in conversation and the bartenders cleared any cash and drinks off the bar. Both then avoided us for several minutes and had "no idea" what I was asking. A few minutes later the guy cleaning up tables gave me friendly tap on the back while he took my "nearly empty" bottle off the bar behind my back. Jake, our bartender, was great. He could make a mean White Russian! This place was right next to our hotel and was a welcome sight after the hotel bar was a bust. This is not a dive bar. This is a great craft beer / sports bar. Caitlin took very good care of us. She had great recommendations and had good pours. There are 18 beers on tap (all craft) and a good few are local to Lake Placid that are all reasonably priced. There is also a good selection of cans and bottles. Multiple IPAs and Guinness, so there's that. I can't speak to the food, if any, but this is a good place to visit pre-or post-dinner. read more

The place is a ton of fun. The only complaint I have is about Kaitlyn the manager. She was disrespectful, rude, uninformative, and when I ordered drinks, she demanded that I put the money on the bar. She was using profanities and often times would walk away mid ordering. Ive never experienced such terrible service in my life, let alone Lake Placid. This place is fun but needs new management. Went for Sunday happy hour, very affordable and delicious. The bar was staffed by one bar tender but she was hustling to keep everyone's drinks full, at no point did we have to wait for anything. She was on it. Definitely recommend for a cheap, good drink read more

I would not recommend that bar to anyone under any circumstances. When I asked for the price of the beer, that arrogant blond barmaid told me that it was more expensive for me since I asked... Then, be very careful with your drink if you don't want them to pour it away in order to make you spend more. For instance, twice I had mine thrown away when I used the washroom and when I went outside for a cigarette. When I mentioned politely to the barman where he put me beer? He decided to throw me out of the bar without any reason. Pushing me around so I leave while a was walking towards the door without arguing. We kept hearing this referred to as a "dive bar" but that's clearly only the case if you've never been out to regular places in upstate NY. I'd classify this as a pub / sports bar. I am a tourist and my friends and I are all from out of state. The blonde bartender at this bar did not want to take my friends ID due to the fact that she could not read the "Under 21 until XX-XX-2019. It was cut off about 5% of the way and still very legible. I am writing this review to the simple fact she was very very rude and petty and did not have a scanner. If you are from out of state I would be careful. Value The best value bar in LP. I am not the biggest fan of the area to be honest, a super overrated version of Aspen, CO. This bar is refreshing because it caters to the regular guy. It's not a club and it's not a ski bar for tourists charging you 9 dollars for a draft beer. There is always good music playing and the crowd is very loud and rowdy, which for me is a winner. As far as Lake Placid (Mirror Lake) goes for night life, Zig Zags is your best bet for a normal, social bar. It's not really divey but gets loud and crowded. There's a pool table, darts, foosball, and other games inside. Ample room along a long wooden bar makes it easy to order drinks. Each bartender was friendly when I visited. I was only interested in beer and Zig Zags packs an impressive draft and can/bottle list of craft beer including local breweries. I tried a couple of local craft beers on tap. Each one was solidly ok and seemed fresh enough. This was a great change of pace from Roomers across the street, which is more of a high energy dance club. read more

Tourists beware --- dishonest, disrespectful, and borderline violent bartender. Two nights ago (I don't let myself write emails or reviews while angry) two friends and my wife and I stopped by this little bar for a few drinks before dinner. It's a little dive bar with pool table, darts, etc. Typically, my kind of place. The bar caught our eye walking by because it was Sunday afternoon and there is a sign on the front saying "4-7 Sunday Specials". On the wall inside the door another sign says, "Sunday $4 wine, well drinks, and draft beer". When I ordered coke and rums the bartender asked if I wanted white or spiced rum and I said "which is on special?" He said "white or spiced rum" again smiling, which I took to mean either (this was my mistake). Fast-forward, and when I closed my tab the bill was more than double what it should have been. I asked how this was possible at $4 a drink and he said "oh, that special is for locals" and something else I couldn't hear. I was dumbfounded but I assumed I had misinterpreted the sign and I paid and even left a 20% tip. However, when I doublechecked the signs I was not mistaken at all. When my wife and I confronted him about this he was amazingly disrespectful and belligerent (he also appeared drunk). He tried several times to offer us a round of drinks on the house to make amends, but we were finished drinking and the damage had already been done by his dishonesty and rudeness. He then started yelling something about our friends standing outside the bar and gambling... to which I had no idea what to say because it was pure rambling. My wife asked for the manager's contact information and he told us he owned the bar and to get the f**k out and continued to yell obscenities so loudly that several people not even involved in the incident also decided to leave the bar. It was so off the wall and uncalled for I can now laugh about it. However, if we hadn't kept cool heads I believe he may have gotten violent. I write this long review for two reasons. One, so his manager might see it and take action if he was lying about owning the bar. Two, if he does own the bar, sir, please reassess your service skills and how you treat people from out of town. We didn't even care about the money in the end, the problem was how we were treated. read more

Stopped in to grab a beer and just hang out for a few minutes. Only 4 other people in the bar so it was not busy at all. We were greeted at the door with all the COVID rules which was great and made us feel comfortable. Unfortunately the bartender was loudly swearing and and being extremely obnoxious. I'll give them 2 stars because i went 2 nights in a row and the first night wasn't bad. You'd think such a popular bar on Main Street would want to have good customer service, especially when lake placid is a pretty big tourist area. Well on Saturday night when my friends and I went, the bar tender seemed extremely annoyed by having to her job and even went as far as talking shit about my table to her other co workers in front of one of my friends who was waiting for a drink at the bar. She was unbelievably rude and so unprofessional because my group of 8 friends all asked for waters. She said "i don't have the time to make waters go across the street and buy a water bottle" #1. We are at your bar drinking, how are you going to deny us waters? She then proceeded to scream to her co workers about how some annoying girls asked for waters and was being extremely nasty and skipped over us at the bar for the remaining time we were there. Don't work at a bar on a Saturday night if you don't want to do your job. Our table was tipping her very well too before the water fiasco so I'm not sure why she was making this a issue. Honestly just very unprofessional on the bartenders behalf... the other staff was fine. 0/10 wouldn't go back if she was the bartender again read more

My service dog and I entered this establishment tonight and were quickly approached by staff stating "when it gets busy in a little while your dog will not be allowed in here." Due to the ignorance of mankind when it comes to service animals, I calmly stated "legally under the Americans with Disabilities Act you cannot ask or require me to remove my service animal from the establishment". Later in the evening, a older male approached me stating "you need to get your dog out of here because it is too busy" I again reiterated what I had previously said to another staff member. The male instantly became hostile and stated "I can kick anyone out of my bar human or dog". I continued to try and educate this individual regarding the laws set in place for service animals and when he realized he was backed in a corner he then stated "fine then I am kicking you out (pointing at me)". I then advised again to this individual that he cannot ask or require me or my service animal to leave for no reason other than his lack of knowledge and ignorance. When we refused to leave, the male told the bartenders to not serve any of us. At this point, one of the people in our group was currently at the bar and had just purchased a drink and the bartender ripped the beer out of his hand. Due to the hostility, we as a group chose to leave this establishment. If you know any individuals that may work here, please recommend that they educate themselves on the laws made to protect service animals and their handlers. read more

I come to Lake Placid once a year with a large group of people and we always stop into Zigzags for a few. They offer a sold selection of beer and the prices are quite reasonable. The bar has a jukebox, pool table, foosball and dartboards so there is plenty of things to do while you are enjoying a pint (or your libation of choice). Under normal circumstances it seems like a pretty laid back place to hang out, but it can be packed elbow-to-elbow on a busy weekend night. Look for the red bobsleigh on the sidewalk in front of the bar - it a great photo opportunity! read more

It's true, Zigzags does have the cheaper drinks in town. It's also on the strip so you will see a mix of drunk locals and tourists. I visited about 4 times in my 4 days in LP and both bartenders I interacted with were beyond friendly and accommodating. I give them credit for what they have to deal with on a nightly basis...I saw a couple arguments defused within seconds. This is far down on the strip so if you stayed down the road like I did you will have a chill walk back to your hotel. The cops crawl at night, DWI is not tolerated in this town so be warned, be smart and be safe. read more
