    Cheesesteak and fries

Our server was just great. Just look at my salad! This summer berry salad with blackened salmon was a delight. My hubby had the cheesesteak which he really enjoyed. We went before the true dinner crowd and it was lovely. I like the fancy pub vibe with a view of the lake.

We were seated fairly quickly. The server was very nice and kept checking up on us. She also kept refilling my water quickly. It has the bar feel with huge tv screens showing the game. It has that bar feel but not so loud like many other bars. The wings and brussel sprouts were delicious. The pizza was kind of disappointing. They advertised a homemade dough that their pizza is made of. It was not very impressive. The sauce was also very bland. The soup was a bit salty. Ordering only appetizers the bill came out to $60. Be ready to spend.

The food is okay. I think the appetizers are better than the meals. The service is decent. We prefer to sit at the bar when we don't have our kiddo with us. The craft cocktails are t very crafty, but they have a good selection of beer. The restaurant is clean and feels cozy. There is a tv with sports in typically. Why we love this place? They get food out VERY quickly. When you're a parent, this can be everything.

The place is centrally located by Mirror Lake and on the Main Street. Beautiful rustic decor and has a bar inside it as well. The food was good and brought soon after placing the order. Our server Carlos was amazing. Very courteous and eloquent and nice. We could see the mountain and lakes from our table. The older lady at the bar whereas, was rude. All she did was stay at the bar upset and complaining (murmuring out loud) about how she hates the place, hates the bar etc etc. when we asked for help she was rude & literally yelling. Other than that, the food is something can bring you back.

Awesome view! Really cool location, love the outdoor seating. Drink was delicious. BLT was okay, very bread heavy could have used some more fillings, but still good. Server was friendly, a bit slow but we had great weather to enjoy so no big deal!

We came here a bunch while staking in the High Peaks resort and really enjoyed our times coming to Dancing Bears. The food was all extremely tasty and the service was excellent. We cannot recommend this business enough, come with an empty stomach as the portions are huge!

I really enjoyed this place. It's right on Main Street, so great location. We were seated right away! My pizza was great! And my husband really enjoyed his tacos. The old fashioned wasn't my favorite. The service was slow, but they were severely understaffed, so I know they were doing their best !

We ate at the Dancing Bears because we were staying at the High Peaks resort... the first night. The second night we ordered from the Dancing Bears again because the next place we were planning on trying didn't do take out. The Dancing Bears has multiple gluten free options, and is able to modify due to allergens. We ordered the French Dip and the Nachos. Quality was pretty similar in food both nights, which is great! We really enjoyed the food. One of the nights was a little busy, and the host was a little flustered. The next night was less busy, and a friendlier environment. Remember to cut your servers and hosts some slack! We'd definitely return to Dancing Bears should we find ourselves in Lake Placid again!

This Restaurant Was Good. The Caesar salad was ok the dressing tasted more Italian than Caesar. The Wings Were Really Good. The shrimp Cocktail to die for it has the perfect sweet but spicy flavor in it. Don't Even get me started on the Pretzel it was so good and the Cinnamon Butter is literally like out of this world. The Fish Tacos were really good. The dancing bear burger was really good and since it came with truffle fries it was even better. The Pulled Pork Sandwich was really good nice even sweet but spicy. The service was very nice and attentive.

They do have a second floor dining area for large parties. English pub style. Food is relatively good. We are here 3 out of the 5 days we were in Lake Placid, mostly out of convenience. Service is okay, depending on who you get. They are super busy all the time and if your server isn't on point they will forget things. Their Ubu beer is the best beer there. The cranberry cider is pretty good as well. Shepards pie had very little meat/filling with a larger mashed potato ratio. Apple pie sounds great on paper but had little filling, leaving it super dry because it's baked as an individual personal pie. The whipped crème fraiche was delicious. Wings were nicely fried, crispy on outside and tender inside. Sourdough grilled cheese could've been better by using any other cheese besides Kraft singles. Clam chowder is superb. Beet salad was okay. Turkey burnt ends did not impress me and it's suppose to be their most popular dish. Chicken tenders were delicious. Fried fish was amazing! Huge piece of fish, served with tartar sauce and a side of incredible fries. Detroit style pizza is lackluster. The dough could've been cooked longer as it was underdone.

We spent the week in Lake Placid for Spring Break, and we could not have been more happy to find this place, especially since we had our dog with us. Lisa G's feels like the kind of place you wish you had back home. We sat out on the porch with a perfect view of the water and our golden retriever happily at our feet. That alone would have been enough, but the food made sure we stayed awhile. We started with the wings. These are true buffalo wings. Not breaded, just well sauced and done right. We also ordered the cheese treat and it completely stole the show. Feta, spices, and jalapenos over fresh arugula, scooped onto toasted bread. It is one of those dishes where you keep saying just one more bite until suddenly it is gone. For dinner we tried the shrimp tacos, which have quite a reputation. As Texas people we were a little unsure about the pineapple salsa, but it works. Bright and just sweet enough. The slaw is mellow and tangy and ties everything together in a way that feels thoughtful rather than trendy. The fish and fries surprised us the most. Easily the best fish and chips we have had in years. Real haddock with a light crisp fry and a rich house made tartar sauce that does not play second fiddle. Chance said he usually only likes fish and chips for the fried part, but here he actually liked the fish itself. That tells you everything. The fries are the kind you keep reaching for long after you are full. Our teen ordered the burger and it disappeared before we could negotiate a bite. Former picky eaters do not lie. We tried the Julian cocktail, which drinks like a confident mai tai. The riesling missed the mark a bit. Next time we would go for the sauvignon blanc or the house white. The service felt like the best version of small town hospitality. Warm, easy, and full of good local recommendations. Our pup loved it. We loved it. We will be back. --Chance and Becky All Ahead Slow

After waiting over an hour for our food with no updates in sight, we finally left hungry and declared we'd never return. (We've all made dramatic vacation proclamations before!) When we got home, I wrote to the restaurant, and Natasha, the manager, personally responded with a sincere apology. She explained they had been incredibly short-staffed and invited us to come back if we were ever in Lake Placid again, promising a better experience. Well, seven years later, my sons found themselves in Lake Placid with friends and decided to give Generations another chance. They asked if Natasha was still there, and amazingly, she was! Not only that, but she remembered my email from all those years ago. This time, everything was wonderful. Great food, attentive service, a relaxing outdoor table, and happy young men!--which is review enough! To top it all off, when they asked for the check, they were told the meal was on the house. Natasha's kindness, grace, and commitment to making things right left a lasting impression. Thank you for turning a not-so-great memory into a great one. I asked the server if they had good, fresh iced tea, he said yes and then brought me a bottle of ice tea, not at all what I requested. Next up was to try a cup of their onion soup. The soup came out looking beautiful, the flavor was very nice, the temperature was moderate, I would have expected it to be server hotter, since it's soup. Then I ordered their Ruben. About 10 minutes later the server came back advising the chef said he didn't have anymore of the meat for it, so they offered to make it with turkey instead and since I love a Rachel (the turkey version of a Ruben) even more, I went for it. It came out looking pretty good and tasted quite nice. The fries were warm; again, not hot, but they had a decent flavor. Overall, I can see why the reviews are mediocre at best here.
