I recently purchased a travel trailer and needed to have a tow hitch/receiver installed on my Jeep…read more I first received a quote from the RV dealer, but since I was not familiar with what was needed or what the cost should be, I asked around. Some of my Jeep friends recommended Riverside Hitch & Trailer, and then my Jeep dealer also referred me to them. After receiving two separate recommendations, I decided to take my Jeep there. I am so glad I did. The woman who helped me was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and honest. She came out, looked at my Jeep, and explained that I did not need all of the extra work I had originally been quoted because my Jeep was already wired. I basically only needed the hitch installed, which saved me about $1,000. They were able to squeeze me in, and the work was completed much faster than I expected. So far, the quality looks great, my Jeep looks awesome, and the customer service was excellent. I have not attached the trailer yet, but I am already very pleased with my experience. I would definitely recommend Riverside Hitch & Trailer. They were honest, professional, fast, and saved me a lot of money.

The lady behind the counter was pleasant but insisted on charging a 15% "re-stocking" fee. I mildly protested but it did no good, so they got to keep $6. I hope they think this antiquated policy is worth it because I will never return. Items like this were available at, you, Amazon (free returns) but I wanted to support a local retailer. No good deed goes unpunished, I guess.

On or about Wed 2/3/21 at 5:13pm, I had an accident with a new trailer I had bought from them that…read moresame day. I had picked up from their yard in Riverside and was heading back to final destination of Tracy. The accident occurred NB I5 between Santa Nella and Patterson. The trailer was disintegrating sending pieces of metal and bolts flying as well as a 100 lbs toolbox onto a row of vehicles behind me. The toolbox is a compartment that is supposed to be welded and/or bolted onto the chassis of the trailer. It stored a truck sized battery and a hydraulic system. I5 NB is a 2 lane highway where vehicles travel at 70mph and heavy trucks at 55mph. Trucks usually keep at the right lane except when passing, while all other vehicles travel on both right and left lanes. The vehicles/trucks behind me swerved to avoid being struck by the deadly projectile and more than one could've died in what could be a multi-vehicle crash. I was flagged down and pulled to the side of the road to see what had happened. I was terrified when I saw all that had happened. One vehicle that was following with me on the trip told me he saw everything. We left the truck on a safe shoulder and went SB I5 to investigate and make sure nothing was in the middle of highway that could've been a danger. We found the tool box, and we noticed it had slid down the pavement for a long distance until it eventually stopped at the gravel shoulder. We inspected the box and saw the damage. We documented and took pictures and picked up into cargo area of vehicle and drove back to where we had left the truck. I inspected truck and trailer for safety and decided to finish trip as we only had 30 more minutes before arriving to Tracy our final destination and it was starting to get dark and dangerous to be on shoulder of I5 any longer. More than a frightening experience, this incident could've turned out deadly and ruined my life. CHP was informed and my insurance was also informed and my counsel got informed. The days after I had to struggle trying to find someone to fix this ASAP. We had our jobs lined up and we needed this trailer to be fully operational to move our construction equipment. This didn't only cause us a frightening experience, but also caused us grief, hassle, loss of time and income due to not being able to perform. I consulted with local welders and mechanics and had the truck and trailer inspected and they noticed many faults. When I thought my nightmare experience was over, I realized it was just about to begin. As we inspected truck, I was filming/recording and documented all the issues. The problems didn't stop at the trailer because there were even more problems going on with the truck itself. The biggest one of them being that the air brakes were not properly connected and the bolt was flicked off by the mechanic's finger as it was loose and allowing air to escape. The mechanic told me that had this loose bolt/hose come off completely from the air brake chamber with the vibrations while driving, I could've caused a major wreck as I would've lost all my brakes and air pressure. I was SHOCKED. I felt I was very lucky to be alive. But I also became really angry. THIS WAS NEGLIGENCE. Gross Negligence. As we studied and inspected the frame, the chassis, and the under body of truck, we saw many craftsmanship/workmanship flaws. Wire harnesses were loosely hanging, bolts were missing, the chassis metal itself wasn't painted to protect from oxidations, we noticed illegal welds that would fail CHP inspection, we noticed illegal cuts, we noticed when extending chassis they installed salvaged parts from different trucks, the bridges/crossmember bars were mismatch, and many more things that I documented. Also, when I took the truck, Riverside Truck told me that the "check engine" light/"service engine" will go away and that it was only because their trucks have been sitting out for a while without being driven. So far since the drive from Riverside to Tracy, and the light hasn't gone away. I'm not sure if it's something wrong internally in the engine or transmission or why it keeps going off in the dashboard. I just hope the truck doesn't break down at this point and leave me stranded and with a big mechanic bill. IF it does break down I'm afraid to be left out in the middle of a multilane highway and cause an accident. So far this has been a terrible experience for me. I gave my full trust. I will upload video I documented to Youtube to show them & hopefully come to terms. I don't think they've earned the $35k I paid for the trailer nor the $20k I paid for the chassis/dump bed installation; and the $55k for truck is now questionable. They have tested my luck more than once and saved myself from being killed or killing someone in a tragic accident on both counts of negligence. This is serious gross negligence on the trailer manufacturing and the air brakes/mechanical of the truck. $100k I paid could've easily become a tragic accident and cost me more

We absolutely love this rig, and our experience at the sales department was top notch. Last week, we were about to leave on a camping trip, when we had a somewhat major mishap. We called Richardson's service department, and were extremely fortunate to speak to Steven Contreras. Now, keep in mind, much like the auto industry in the middle of this pandemic, everyone is super busy, and short staffed. We explained the situation to Steven, and he said to bring the rig in right away. Usually, it's at least a two or three week wait to get an appointment at the service department, but Steven made a exception for us, considering our dilemma. After about 45 minutes of helping us personally with our problem, it was repaired successfully! I have never experienced a more positive and awesome representation of true customer service, like I did with Steven. He is an exceptional human being, and a phenomenal ambassador to the RV'ing community. I highly recommend that you go see Steven at Richardsons for any of your RV repair needs! Every time we've had to bring our fifth wheel in for repairs, Richardson's RV service department has been exceptional in the services they provide. Five stars!
