Zimmerman Electric Company owner Mark arranged my appointment for Monday 1/27/25 at 10:00am and texted me that morning that Greg Billings was on his way to my residence. Greg was very prompt and assessed the problem immediately. As the two overhead Kitchen Fluorescent lights were very old, Greg had replacement LED lighting fixtures and installed them immediately. Unfortunately one fixture's covering was partially cracked and Greg went to Home Depot and replaced/installed the covering perfectly in a very short time. We are very happy with our new LED lights which brightens up our kitchen. We are gratetful for having chosen Zimmerman Electric Company for their friendly and professional service. We needed an electtrician to determine why two entire rooms had no electricity and also wanted to install new motion sensor lights. This ended up requiring two separate visits, since we needed to get the lights we wanted ourselves. I was quoted an hourly fee. I was very happy with the service, especially the timeliness and professionalism of both of the electricians. However, I was surprised that I was initially charged for two hours the first visit since it was only 64 minutes long, and I was surprised again to be charged for three hours for the second visit which lasted two hours and 10 minutes. When I contacted Mark after the first visit, he did adjust the initial visit invoice to just one hour. I reached out to him (after the second visit) prior to writing this review to let him know again about the time/billing discrepancy but did not get a response. I willingly paid the amount charged because I do feel the service was very good. I still don't feel we should have been charged for three hours of work for the last visit, though, which is why what could have been a five-plus star review is only four stars. read more

I have used Zimmerman in the past, and I was happy with their work. A short while ago, I asked for them to come out and make a quote on replacing two bathroom heater/light/vent combos. Their quote was $750 for the downstairs bathroom and $775 for the upstairs bathroom, which totaled $1525. There was no breakdown as far as labor and materials and no indication of the quality of the unit they were installing. Therefore, I asked them to give me more details and specify the brand. They wrote back and said that my new total would be $2460. Really? read more

I needed a faulty light socket inspected and replaced with a different fixture as well as a new light/exhaust fan installed. I used yelp messenger to contact Zimmerman. Hourly pricing was given at initial contact with Mark and he said someone would be by between 9-11 am the following day. Replaced something without asking. Charged me by text??? Didn't fix the issue. Gained 1 star by at least dropping the price. I needed an electrician to come out and install ceiling fan/lights in 2 bedrooms. Zimmerman was quick to respond to my yelp message asking for a rough quote and we then scheduled them for the morning. I am came out around 9 am, with full PPE gear and ready to tackle the task. He first fixed the switch in one bedroom so the fan could work, then took his time and tested the fan before moving to the next room. I had never used an electrician and was nervous that they wouldn't assemble the fan (I thought I had to do that part) but Ian handled both room fans perfectly and showed us how to use them. Ian was professional and polite, and finished around 1130 that day. I would absolutely use them for more electrical work in this older Torrance home. I received the invoice via email a few days and was happy that it was about the same price as originally quoted. read more

Technician Art was phenomenal. Professional, pleasant, courteous. In-and-out in 35 minutes, assessing & fixing my dead interior wall-outlet problem. Art's experienced intuition revealed his own initial theory that a to-be-discovered nearby outlet back-wiring had gone bad. Art turned-out to be correct, of course. But even before Art isolated the faulty wall-outlet, Art appeased my request to please check the fuse box circuit breakers. All circuit breakers were working fine to confirm Art's theory, & I was very comforted knowing the circuit breakers were checked. After Art located the faulty wall-outlet, he re-wired the outlet restoring power everywhere. Can't emphasize how pleased & thankful I am to Zimmerman Electric for taking-on my small job, plus hiring excellent employees like Art. The referral was through my home warranty company, Old Republic. Initial contact with Ray was pleasant. My appointment was 12/6/16 at 4pm. Ray left a message stating he was running late. When we talked, he was roughly 1-1 1/2 hours behind and asked to come after. No problem. Ray showed up ~7pm. I gave him a brief explanation, showed him the breaker box, and he checked to see if sockets had power. Since it was late and dark, Ray asked to come another day because he said it could take hours for him to find the issue, he may have to go inside the walls, and mentioned something about the GFIs. I was kind of startled when he asked if it would be okay for him to come in, assess, and do work while I wasn't home. Uhhh...hell NO! Who does that before confirming the issue with a homeowner, first of all?! Ray said his boss, Mark, would call me to reschedule. A week later, still no call. I called Ray's cell. He assumed I had already spoke with Mark then said "someone" must have forgot to call me. He gave me Mark's cell number so I called and left him a mesaage. A week later, still no call! At this point, there was too much back and forth and I needed work done so I could host Christmas dinner. I found a handyman who came the day after I called him. One socket was incorrectly wired and tripped the others. There was no going in the wall and no hours worth of work as Ray suggested I may need. Smh!! One socket cover was unscrewed, a wire was capped, and everything was working and tested within an hour. Finally, a few days after my work was completed by the handyman, another technician called to reschedule. Too late!! Mark also called, same day, hours later. Again, too late! Zimmerman completed no assessment, no work, and couldn't call back in a sufficient time frame. Yet, they submitted a false bill to my warranty company for payment. Frauds!! Even the date on the work order was false! The dishonesty is shameful. read more

We called Zimmerman based upon these reviews so I feel compelled to write one. We've had them come by to add a socket for a dryer (2 visits) and to add a socket for EV (2 visits). They accomplished what they said they would however, they were never on time and when they came for the EV instal they knew they needed 2 people (they had already been here twice before). They showed up well over an hour late with only 1 person. That won't work. So then they had to come back. Once again well over an hour late and over 4 hours later we do have a place to plug in the EV but I've wasted 2 days off of work in the process. In theory their prices would be what is expected but considering I've taken 4 days off of work to accomplish 2 jobs... they are really expensive. read more
