I have trained at gyms across the US from the West Coast to the East Coast and the things that I look for when I first walk into a gym are these things: Programs: Does the gym offer what I am interested in? Level of instruction: If I'm paying for a service, what is the level of instruction that I am receiving? Is the staff friendly and helpful in guiding me towards my goal? Facilities: Are the facilities clean? Do they have the necessary equipment to adequately train everyone? Is there appeal in how everything is set up? Organization of classes: Is the material organized and presented in a manner that anyone can learn? Programs offered (5/5): During the 4 years since I started to training to the time that I left, the number of programs offered has evolved significantly. The addition of key coaches in the areas of Muay Thai, wrestling, and MMA and transformed Zingano BJJ from a Jiu Jitsu school to a formidable Jiu Jitsu/MMA/fitness gym. The kids program is great for kids as young as 5 to start training. You can't find a more complete gym in Colorado to train at. Level of Instruction (5/5): The level of instruction across the board is top notch. Master Zingano has done a great job with his instructors in instilling them with the art of teaching. Every instructor that I had was able to clearly and concisely convey whatever technique was being taught. In addition, they are all extremely friendly. I think a lot of people are intimidated of trying a sport that they've never done before. Weather its BJJ, MMA, or Muy Thai, these instructors take that fear away by promoting an ego free environment and are approachable by everyone. Class organization (5/5): This one was a big one for me. I've been to many gyms where it was just a free-for-all when it comes to class organization and what is taught. At Zingano BJJ the classes are broken up into beginner, intermediate, and advanced depending on your level of experience. I believe this helps you learn quicker and more efficiently by being able to train with people at your level. Also, because classes are so organized there isn't a lot of down time and the flow from teaching one technique to the next is seamless. This alone, in my opinion, made me feel like I'm getting my money's worth and demonstrated that these guys know what they're doing. Facilities (5/5): The facilities are top notch in the state of CO. Everything is clean and organized. They have a large mat area where many people can roll, full size boxing ring, full size MMA cage, punching bags, and weight lifting equipment. They recently upgraded the locker area with new tile floors, multiple showers, and new locker cubbies. The restrooms are always clean. I researched and tested out many gyms the Boulder/Denver area in search of a the perfect place to train. I rated all of the gyms according to the criteria above and Zingano BJJ/MMA definitely scored the highest of the 8 gyms I went to. After throwing around the idea of training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for a few months, I finally decided to go and try it out. I initially started training at a gym that a few friends trained at and quickly realized that it was not the place for me. The gym was dark, the people were not welcoming, and the facility was small. A coworker of mine knew that I had started training and began to look at gyms as well and found Zingano's. He mentioned it to me, but I was hesitant to go to a new place not knowing anyone because often times these places are filled with people who have something to prove. After talking about it a bit, we made a phone call. The phone was answered by Professor Zingano himself and he was extremely welcoming and informative. He insisted we come over and check out the facility and meet the people, so we did. When we first walked in, we were immediately greeted by several students who were finishing up a class. This was surprising to us as we were used to being looked at as "new guys." We were introduced to Professor Zingano who quickly made us feel at home. He showed us the facility, answered all of our questions, and made us feel like we were going to be part of a family. We both decided to go through the trial period and were given loaner gi's so we could participate. Our initial trial was two weeks at the time and after the first three days, I knew this was the place for me. I signed a year contract and began training 4 days a week. I was amazed at the family atmosphere this place provided. I was immediately accepted and was treated like I had been there my whole life. The coaches were awesome, the facility was always clean, and the classes were top notch every time. At first I did Jiu-Jitsu only, but quickly realized that there was so much more to learn at Zingano's. I started doing MMA, Muay Thai, and wrestling as well. They have the best Jiu-Jitsu coaches, the wrestling coach is an Olympic medalist, the Muay Thai coach is a living legend in the sport, and Professor Zingano is an extremely respected Black Belt with a wealth of knowledge. I have been training at Zingano's for over four years and have made relationships that will last a lifetime. I have had many great experiences myself and have witnessed many others with other people. I have seen people come in and make complete transformations in their lives regarding weight, self confidence, and relationships. I have been training Muay Thai and BJJ here for about 3 months, and can honestly say that both programs are top-notch. Even in group classes, the coaches do a great job of catering to each athletes learning style, so you don't have to worry about being left behind during drills. All of the coaches have a noticeable amount of passion for martial arts, which creates an energetic and motivated vibe during classes. One obvious difference between Zingano's and other MMA gyms I have trained at is the utilization of combinations that could be used in actual fights. Learning series of moves (which are first broken down into their most basic parts), as opposed to always isolating just one, has made my sparring/rolling much more fluid. Knowing how to transition from move to move and having the ability to plan your next step during a fight are both skills that you will acquire at Zingano's. Every class is designed to help each student consistently improve, which has helped me avoid plateaus in my training. Lastly, training at Zingano's allows me to escape the chaotic grind of daily life for an hour or two everyday. Every time I step on the mats I feel empowered, and leave the gym feeling happy and rejuvenated. Pro instructors (real mma experience, and they win) who are incredibly humble and knowledgable. I never thought a martial arts experience could be this great. Only people at the highest level are this humble and helpful and you can rest assured, the coaches and professors at Zingano are true professionals with the fights and training to back it up. In less than a year I lost 25lbs and am in the best shape of my life in my late thirties. I actually despise working out, but when you're learning great movements and sparring, you won't even know you're burning thousands of calories. I'm doing things that I never thought I could do and the coaches and Master Zingano have done more for me than they probably realize. Zingano BJJ is THE place to go if you want the BEST Muay Thai instruction in the State of Colorado. As a strictly Muay Thai student, I can testify to strength of this program, headed by Kru Sakmongkol. I came in from another gym where I trained Muay Thai, and have already doubled my knowledge and skill in half the time! Kru Mong does not run your typical Muay Thai/Kickboxing class-contrary to the previous poster, this is THE place to go if your serious about training. Not only are the times of the classes ideal for anyone (even those with odd working hours, like me), but Kru Mong personally cares about each and every one of his students advancement and learning. He will work with you after class if there was a technique you didn't understand, and will answer any question you have about what you are learning. You will work everything from bags, to pad work, to sparring-anything Kru Mong feels will help you understand the technique. I can personally say that the advancement I've found at Zingano Muay Thai was more than I could dream of. First of all, you really have to see this facility to believe it. It is HUGE, with a full-size ring and full-size MMA cage, plus a massive mat space. There is a sizable dressing room with two showers, so you can train on your lunch break or before work, and many students here do. The head instructors are both very qualified - Mauricio Zingano is a 3rd degree black belt who learned directly from the Gracies, and Sakmongkol is a literal legend in Muay Thai. With classes ranging from early morning to late night, and BJJ, Muay Thai, and MMA available, there's something for everyone. Kids classes run 5 days a week, and seem to be very popular as well. This is not the cheapest gym in the Denver area, but like a lot of things, you get what you pay for. I'm not sure why so many reviews by satisfied customers are being filtered by Yelp, but if you are interested in checking this place out I recommend reading some of them. My husband and I were looking for a fun way to get in shape. We wanted to find an activity we would both enjoy and something we could also do with our kids. We are in the best shape we've ever been in and we're having fun doing it. We have busy schedules with 2 kids but Zingano BJJ offers a schedule that works for everyone. The professors, coaches, and training partners at ZBJJ are so knowledgeable and helpful. They have really made us feel at home. My 8-year-old daughter has been attending Zingano's for a couple years. In the past she has participated in swim lessons, dance, and gymnastics. I can say with great confidence that she truly enjoys jiujitsu more than anything she's ever done. Her attitude and focus has greatly improved and she really looks forward to going every week. One of the greatest things I've noticed is the respect that the older children have for the younger kids. Master Zingano and Kru Sakmongkol are truly dedicated to developing successful, competent students. My technique in Muay Thai, Wrestling and Jiu Jitsu is constantly evolving and improving. The atmosphere makes the gym feel more like a second home and my fellow training partners are cohesive and supportive. They push me every day to improve. I frequently travel for work and train at gyms around the country, and this by far has been the best run gym I've been to. It's the cleanest gym I've been to with VERY knowledgable instructors with high level experience to back them up. They have plenty of equipment, mat space, a ring and a cage which are often missing from the academies I've been to in the past. I've been training at Zingano BJJ for a few years now, and it is an awesome gym to train at. As said in a previous review, the program is structured and well thought out and regardless of your level you'll be able to drill, improve and polish your techniques. The instructors are super knowledgeable and Master Zingano's teaching is incredible. He pays close attention to the students and you will get tips and adjustments to your game while you practice - that makes all the difference. Another big plus in my opinion is the variety of the schedule. You'll find classes at various times of day and wether you can escape work for an hour or come after school, there will be classes and people to train with. Great place to train! I first showed up at Zingano's 50lbs over weight and thinking I would never get in shape being that I was going to the gym and working out on my own for 6 months to only lose a few pounds, within 7 months I had lost 54lbs while learning jiu jitsu and making good friends. A few weeks ago I competed in my first tournament and finished in first place!!! Being that I'm in y mid thirty's and haven't done any kind of sports or competitions since high school this was a incredible achievement for myself. I recently also join the Muay Thai program and it has been great as well. Joining the Zingano BJJ is one of the best things I have ever done. I was a guy in my late 30's, married with kids, a former athlete and soldier that found himself on the couch gaining weight. I had trained in the past in Kenpo but really wanted to try Brazilian Jujitsu. Nervously I checked out Zingango's BJJ, the instructors and Master Zingano welcomed me in with open arms and not only made me part of their team but part of their family. I have been to dozens of Jiu-Jitsu/MMA schools and this Academy is top notch! There are programs available for every skill level and goal, from the person just wanting to stay in shape to the professional MMA fighter! All the instructors are extremely encouraging and they make you want to work for them! Master Zingano comes straight from the Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Lineage and his teaching methods are the best I've ever seen! The facilities are state of the art and include a full size cage, kickboxing ring and large matted area. I walked into Zingano Brazilian Jiu Jitsu with a friend who wanted to check it out. I was there to support my friend and knew very little about BJJ/MMA. After the first class I was hooked. I walked into Zingano BJJ a little over 6 years ago. Being a small guy I was looking for a martial art that would let me succeed using the other tools at my disposal. Not only did I find that, I found a home. Along with world class coaches and top notch facilities comes a family.
