Zion Adventure Company is definitely a go to place for all those who intend to hike any part of Zion and are on the look out for necessary equipment for their hike. They have all the tools and stuff that would be pretty useful for your hike. Place is well maintained with friendly staff and really affordable prices for rental. My friends and I did a day hike of the Narrows and rented Shoes and Sticks from this place, and it indeed turned out to be very useful to all of us. They also showed a useful tutorial of how to hike the Zion Narrows and things to watch out for when we were there. Staff has been pretty friendly. Definitely deserves a 5 star. Decided last week to make the 4th of July weekend an adventure, so loaded up the car and drove from San Diego to Zion to hike the narrows. I've rented tubes here years ago so i thought Id try the crazy water shoes for the Narrows. Reserved 2 pairs on Friday for a Saturday trip. Staff was friendly and very accommodating. They answered our questions and provided a great deal of knowledge on the hike . Another plus is even though the parking in zion was full, the shuttle stop is just across the street! Rented tubes to float down the river. The water level was VERY low and we kept having to pick up our tubes and move them to deeper areas. It was a very long trip and we were completely exhausted at the end. Slightly disappointed but still had fun! Make sure you ask about river conditions before you commit! read more

My husband and I called and emailed them to reserve a shuttle and rent gear a week in advance without any response or confirmation. Fortunately we were able to book accommodations at the Zion Lodge to secure parking inside the park. After reading negative reviews about their boots on various websites, we rented our gear elsewhere. I did not take any chances with this company. I recommend making a reservation on the shuttle buses when they resume service to guarantee entry into the park or try to get inside the park on your own. read more

I visit Zion a couple times a year for canyoneering and ZAC has always been fantastic. Friends have rented wetsuits and other gear. I've also used the shuttle. Once to transport to the upper trailhead for Mystery and another for a ride from our car at the Subway exit to the top (Wildcat). Everyone is always super friendly and helpful. I'd recommend avoiding the last hour or so of operating hours as it gets a little hectic. read more

Rented the Narrows package of boots, socks, and walking stick. Boots and socks were solid. Walking stick held up. Glad we got them. Felt bad for the people in tennis shoes, sandals, etc. The best part of this place was the funny 8 minute safety video you get to watch about The Narrows. It teaches you warning signs for flash flooding, what to do, and just basic things to help make the best out of maybe the best hike in Zion. I'd go back to them if we were to do the Narrows again. We got into Springdale late on a Thursday, and visited during a rush hour at around 6pm. There was some chaos in the store, but it was mostly handled well by the 3-4 staff working the register. We were able to rent shoes, neoprene socks, and hiking sticks to do about 9 mi of the Narrows (bottom up with detour to Orderville Canyon). The ZAC offers several useful brochures on top hikes and the Narrows, which I read through to refresh my memory on the route, as this was our 2nd time doing this hike. You can quickly glance at their boards to get a feel for the following day's conditions, and talk to the friendly staff about recent trip reports. While I was first in line to check out my gear in a line of maybe 8 others, the leather strap on my wide brim hat snapped. The young woman helping me instantly saw and proposed a solution, having me follow her to the back of the store and cutting me several lengths of more durable cord for about $1. I can't recall her name, but she quite literally saved my skin on this trip - and she prioritized quickly helping me while she had a HUGE line waiting on her. Thank you so much for the unparalleled customer service and quick thinking - it almost felt more like a random act of kindness instead of a transaction. read more

We rented our dry suits for hiking the narrows from here. The pickup of equipment was informative on how to dress for the hike. All equipment worked well and we stayed dry, except for feet. Your feet are supposed to get wet but they DO NOT get cold. The employee who was helping us was unsure of a couple of basic questions (Does the trail run North South?). She did not know. FYI there are parts that do. Returning the equipment was easy. My son's zipper was stuck and they make it clear if your rip or break any part of dry suit, you pay for the repair. So we had an employee unzip him, which only took some brute force. Overall, a great experience. I was glad we had the full suits as opposed to bibs. If you fall, high probability, your chest will get wet in bibs. read more

Unfortunately we did not get to hike the narrows while in Zion due to spring snowmelt, but we stopped in here multiple times to look at gear and ask questions. The staff is SO friendly, knowledgeable, and super helpful! We called the store before heading to Utah and Kevin was super friendly, gave us tons of information and let us make drysuit reservations. They gladly refunded our reservation deposit when we weren't able to hike the narrows, and had many awesome suggestions for other fun things to do while in town! They also had super cute nalgenes, t-shirts, and gear for the more serious canyoneers. We will definitely be back in the summer and get our gear here! read more

This would be zero stars in i could!! We initially picked Zion Adventure based on the reviews along with the distance it was from our RV spot well let me tell you we were highly disappointed and stranded literally! We went Sunday afternoon to reserve our spot for Monday (a shuttle spot and to rent gear for the narrows) When we were getting fitted for boots and socks the employee was highly distracted as he was attempting to help multiple parties instead of just finishing out the task for his current customers then moving onto the next. We didn't think anything of it until Monday! We arrive Monday morning for our shuttle at 8 am. Mind you the narrows is upwards of 8 miles inside the park. We were told over and over again to be on time for our pick up at 2pm as their is no cell service. We were even told that the shuttle would be there 15 minutes early so if we ended early just to look for them. We also prepaid 80 dollars yes 80 for the shuttle! WELL. 1:30 comes we are done, cold, wet, exhausted. We walk up to the parking lot. 1:45 nothing, 2:00 nothing, 2:15 nothing, 2:30 still nothing. We had to PAY another shuttle service to take us back because our shuttle never came! We never even passed our shuttle on the way back. They were never coming! They said there was a mix up on the schedule but I am sorry we were told that we were the only shuttle of the day! They emphasized that we needed to be on time and NEVER showed. They gave us a full refund for our original shuttle but still doesn't do much since we literally had to pay another shuttle service to drive us back or else we would have had to WALK back in wet gear. We are highly disappointed. Do yourselves a favor and rent gear from somewhere else! read more

Excellent place to rent gear from! They were super easy to find and very close to the park. When we got there the staff was super helpful an friendly. I really liked the fact that they made us watch an introductory video for the Narrows; super smart in terms of safety. We rented the basic package that included neoprene socks, canyoneering shoes, dry pants and a walking stick. A must if you are planning to do the Narrows. A group of four of us applied for and received a permit to hike the iconic Subway canyon. We didn't have previous canyoneering experience but are all fit, avid hikers. Luckily, Ben Rhinesmith of Zion Adventure Company took care of us! We signed up for the Subway Ground School training the day before the permitted hike and Ben taught us all of the skills needed to get through the adventure. The rental of the gear needed for the trek was included in the course. We had everything we needed, including practice with repelling and how to get ourselves safely and efficiently over and around every obstacle we encountered. Ben was a great teacher! He took his time with us, walked us through everything from A-Z and was extremely thorough. He was also a lot of fun! With his help, we were well-prepared and had a trip of a lifetime! I really wanted to hike the Narrows during my visit to Zion in late December and heard about this company on a blog I came across while researching. Since we were hiking in winter, a dry suit was necessary and for $53, you get suit, shoes, and a walking stick. The process was super easy and everyone working there was really friendly! You watch a short video when you come in, try on the sock, shoes, and suit and then you're good to go. I think the whole process took us about 30 minutes. For those of you running short on time, I overheard an employee tell a customer that you can rent the suit the night before for a hike the following day. Had we known that, we definitely would have gone with that option since they don't open until 9 am. I will definitely be back here for gear on my next trip to Zion! read more

We had received our permit to do the Narrows top down. I had called the company about a week before for a shuttle to the top and they didn't have any availability. Set it up with another company who canceled is the day before. In a panic, I called around to a bunch check if companies, and Zion Adventures now had availability. We were frequent visitors to ZAC during our time in Zion, and we were impressed every time with the friendly/knowledgeable staff and their recommendations as well as the top-notch equipment. We did a beginner canyoneering trip with BJ as our guide. He was everything you'd want as a guide--patient, knowledgeable, and very safe. We felt comfortable and confident in his care. He took lots of pictures for us, which was nice. Canyoneering was wonderful! Almost anyone can do it, even if (like me) you have limited to no experience or technical skills. We would have liked to do a second trip with BJ the following day, but he was booked up. Instead, we did the Narrows Hike on our own, with rented equipment (walking stick, riverbed shoes, neoprene socks, dry bag) from ZAC. Those things are a must for Narrows--they made our hike MUCH more enjoyable. I highly recommend BJ as a guide, and ZAC as an outfitter for your Zion adventures. read more

Woohoo! As good as it gets! We have been visiting Zion for the past five years. We love the usual hikes in the park and bike riding around the area. This year we added canyoneering to our itinerary and WOW.....what a great addition. We started with the half-day trip and re-booked a few days later for a full-day adventure. We are already planning our return trip next year. Zion Adventure Company is first class. Their equipment was comfortable and in great shape. Their staff is helpful and friendly. Our guides Ben & Mike were professional, concerned with safety first (which we appreciated), interesting and FUN. AND they were PATIENT!!! which is important from a guide while learning a new skill and one that tests your fear levels. They kept stressing that this was "our" trip and allowed us to decide what our priorities were for the day..ie: how much we wanted to do on our own, have help with....etc. The pace was up to us as we never felt rushed. They taught, they listened and supported each of us to learn and enjoy. It is evident that the outdoors is their passion and they shared that love with us. What a convenience to have this company so close to Zion National Park! I totally appreciated their services. There is another company that is even closer to the park next to the pedestrian entrance, but Zion Adventure Co. is $1 cheaper, and when you go with a group that can be a pretty big deal. I only went with my boyfriend so we only saved $2, but hey that's something! There's 20 minute parking right in front and directly to the right of the building so that you don't have to pay while you're picking up your rentals unless you plan on parking in that area and taking the shuttle into the park. If you show up early enough, plan on parking on the actual park grounds because it will at least save you a little money. So we came here because we were going to hike the Narrows. We were approached by a friendly employee as soon as we walked in and I mentioned what our plans were. She then directed us to the 7 ish minute orientation video that explains what to expect while hiking and how to prepare for the Narrows. I'm so glad they do that! I knew what it looked like, but I didn't realize that I didn't know what I was really getting myself into until I watched the video. I highly recommend you pay attention even if the acting is a little corny. After the video, she came back and explained what the recommended gear was, why they're beneficial to have, and how to use them, including dry pants, neoprene socks, and canyoneering shoes. She then brought us over to the area where the pants were located in order to size us, but I didn't really want the pants so when I asked if I really needed them, she explained that it really depends on each person because everyone gets cold or warm differently. She also explained how the weather can feel differently between the start of the trail and the area inside the canyon where the sun doesn't really hit. I was super grateful so that I knew exactly what to expect, but I still opted out of the pants and there was no pressure to change my mind because she gave me the benefit of the doubt that I know my limits. So basically, know your limits because if you get cold super easily, you might want the pants. I survived, but read my review on the Narrows so that you'll understand my experience. She then helped us get the right size canyoneering shoes and neoprene socks, and then we were on our way to check out! Super simple and easy process with an informative staff to go with it! Thank you guys so much! The package I got included the conyoneering shoes, neoprene socks, and a walking stick. They were my BEST FRIENDS on this hike because the water was cold enough to withstand for my legs, but my toes probably would have gone totally numb without the socks. The shoes saved my feet and ankles from a lot of potential pain. They helped reduce slipping and when I hit my toes on rocks and boulderes that I couldn't see under the water, I felt the impact but it didn't hurt the way it does when you hit the corner of a coffee table barefoot. Also, I feel like a lot of people would opt out of getting the walking stick, but I'm glad I didn't because it really helped me stay balanced. I also used it as a guide by using it to measure the depth of the water in front of me. There are many spots in the river that are unexpectedly much deeper. You can honestly have water to your knees, take one step and suddenly be chest deep. I think that's kind of scary, so I appreciated the walking stick. Make sure it's shoulder height! For the package we got, it was $23 per person. I don't know if that includes tax because I was picking my walking stick while my boyfriend was paying, but even with tax, the comfort and information you receive in exchange is totally worth the expense! read more

We booked a Canyoneering trip with them for my birthday & we had a blast! Our guide was Jillian & she was amazing! Super friendly & supportive the entire hike, she was able to talk us through the parts that were nerve-racking, educated us on repelling, & overall just great at what she does. We got to choose which hike we felt would suite us best & we chose the Huntress. Once we got back from our hike we chose to hike The Narrows the following day so we were able to rent our gear there as well. They had everything we needed, they made it easy for us to pick up the gear in the morning & the price was $55 for a whole suite, socks, shoes, & walking stick. I am a frequent visitor to Zion National Park and I have always rented my gear and sought advice at ZAC. I recently took the three day basic canyoneering course and it far exceeded my expectations. I learned much more than I anticipated and all six members of our group went from knowing little-to-nothing with respect to technical canyoneering to being able to handle canyons on our own with complete confidence and proficiency (Mystery and Pine Creek). I can't say enough about the level and breadth of instruction in this course (raps, anchor building, problem solving, sequencing, gear set up, etc.) Our guides, Tom Jones and Bill Westerhoff, were incredible. They were both amazingly proficient with respect to the technical aspect of canyoneering as well as great to be around for the entire three days. Multiple members of our group of six commented that Tom and Bill were the best guides of any trip of any guide company they had commissioned (folks in our group have done many guided trips). What made Tom and Bill so great (aside from the fact that Tom is a canyoneering celebrity) is that they maintained the delicate balance of maintaining the proper guide/student relationship to ensure we were learning as much as possible while maintaining a fun atmosphere where everyone gave everyone else a hard time (a hallmark of our group trips). I would, without reservation, recommend the three day basic course to anyone serious about building a strong foundation in canyoneering. He explained things well, helped settle people's nerves, shared great stories, taught us the technical aspects perfectly, and was just an overall great guide. Where do I start? Great staff, great customer service, exceptional knowledge of the area. We booked mtn bikes ahead of time and everything was set up and ready to go. Being avid riders, we were skeptical of the quality of the rentals, but after our first of 3 rides we were extremely satisfied. All the bikes ran smooth and this terrain is not subtle, so kudos to the mechanics. The staff went out of their way to map out rides even after they clocked out of their shift. My group booked the shuttle to get to Chamberlain Ranch trailhead for our top - down Zion Narrows backpacking trip. We needed a couple last minute items, the store had everything we needed and staff was amazing at helping us and answering questions. Prior to our trip we debated doing a car drop because we thought it was a little pricy but after making the trip it is totally worth it. It's over an hour and a half from the shop and did not seem like a fun road to drive. Our driver, Abby, was beyond incredible! It made the morning stress free and relaxing before starting our trip. Once at the Trailhead she gave us a few pointers, took our extra trash, AND cleaned the Trailhead bathroom because people had left trash in there. I highly recommend making this your first stop or call when looking for gear, shuttles, or anything Zion related! And EVERY time I called someone answered the phone. Went here hoping to rent bikes for family that came with us and didn't have their own. None available at the time we arrived (around noon), although I had been told by other companies that bikes are usually all rented out in the morning , and back around 2, so not unexpected. We checked back a few times that afternoon to no avail, and didn't get to rent any bikes that day. However, the staff was friendly and very helpful. Lindsay even helped me put air in the tires of one of our bikes. Staff wearing masks, and we felt very comfortable. Would recommend this company. Just get there first thing in the morning if you plan on renting bikes! read more

Fabulous company who truly wants to help everyone make the most of the park! We did a day-long canyoning tour with Christian and enjoyed ourselves immensely. He was able to accurately read our group's ability level and cater accordingly. We had an amazing day in the canyon, and we'll definitely use ZAC again when we head back. We also rented mountain bikes from this group the following day - all of the equipment was top quality, and the folks at ZAC did a great job setting us up.
