I'm using Zippy to store my stuff while I'm renovating my house. They delivered the shell on Saturday. The guys came to load it and they called ahead to see if I'd need any packing material. Showed up in time and we were done in under an hour. They were nice and professional and definitely knew what they were doing. This business is truly trying my patience. When I first signed up with zippy...it was mostly okay. I remember scheduling the initial delivery of the shell about a month in advance (kudos to me for planning ahead because I'm more of a last minute chick). It took me a few days to get in touch with someone to actually confirm they were still coming since i hadn't heard anything...AT ALL. About anything, like logistics or if I wanted to use their movers, how long I thought I would be...NOTHING. BUT we were able to get it squared away and the move was pretty simple. So, okay, no biggie. NOW I'm trying to get my stuff out of storage and I've been calling for about a week AND HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO REACH ANYONE!! I would like to have my stuff moved in before Thanksgiving...but at this rate I'm not even sure if it's possible. Warning. Went w them despite bad reviews because I'm a positive optimist and was sold by their excellent sales personnel. Never left a bad review but... This = Move from hell. Promised Monday delivery. Monday they change delivery to Sat! I change my movers. Sat all day I'm calling... they finally call back that they don't have drivers but promise absolutely guarantee Sunday they double booked drivers. No show Sun. Calling all day. Finally they tell me my pod is broken and they tried repairing all day yesterday (not a driver problem) but it would leak and be susceptible to thieves in its state. I explained what's done is done I don't care let's find me a pod and move I'm a week late and have to be out of my house tomorrow. Nothing. No inventory in the DC area. I was stranded. Days of calling to get my money back. Not a single apology not a single surprise or effort to help find a solution just hours on hold and transferred from account to account no one knew what to do and my sales reps would t answer their phones or emails. Warning flags I should have noticed and if you get a pod you will still deal with. - no straight forward pricing - no portal - no account to reference your order or status or pricing - no receipt just all vague word of mouth and emails but no reference no way to track or know when and what you are getting. No way to reach people and forever long holds. All this before move day should have scared me off. This company has no logistics, no inventory, no staff and no ethics. DO NOT USE!!!!!!!! They stand by nothing they agree to.... Day of move, no pod was available...Sent movers with box truck. Mover broke our couch and dropped our safe off the back of the truck. Items were taken to a warehouse to await a pod. Pod and loading occurred almost a month later. Now that the pod is a month behind and made it Idaho, I scheduled it delivery next week. I just received a confirmation of October 1st. That's 3 months from our load date.. WTF!!!!!!! Do not use them under any circumstances. read more

I honestly only created an account to give Zippy Shell my review. Im moving from D.C. to NYC, and when looking for movers Zippy Shell was the cheapest. They seemed to have the month (or longer storage I need), and I figured they would be the easiest. The sheer lack of communication from this company is incredible, especially when they're handling the majority of your worldly possessions. Weeks leading up to it I tried to get ahold of anyone who knew what I would need for the day of, but no one seemed to be able to tell me really anything, and if they did, it was that I would be fine as is. I also told the company the space for he truck would be tricky and they said they 'noted it.' The day of the guy charged me $300 for blankets because I didn't have any (thank god he did) and his truck didn't fit because I one told him about the space issue. Then I called about a few weeks ago to request a time for my things to be dropped off because I needed them on a certain date, but still was unsure about my moving location, I was told it would be fine and to call back when I had a location. Well here we are today and they can't get the date that I needed. On top of it when I asked to speak to a manager I was told several times that I couldn't because it was a destination request. They've also charged my full cost so it's not like they care about making this particular customer happy any more, but the fact that they are unable to communicate any part of this process successfully is a reason to look elsewhere. I recently moved from Seattle to DC for a new job. I chose ZippyShell because I'm a young professional without much stuff to move and only wanted to pay for trailer space which I actually use. Overall the logistics were handled phenomenally by this company: the dates/times we're on target, the movers professional and speedy. My gripe was with pricing. They claim to offer an upfront total pricing in which you pay half on move-out and the rest on move-in. I was giving a inclusive price and told that was everything. This is simply not true. In addition to this opaque pricing of "one number" they added in an additional $150 for a "long carry", an additional $50 to move to Arlington,VA instead of DC proper (which being residential should be easier for them) and attempted to double charge me an "elevator fee" (instead of the per-flight stair fee...) which I was never told and was just bundled in the price. I got lucky catching this double charge, but only because my moving coordinator was talking to himself while filling out paperwork with me over the phone to see why the price changed. Overall I would NOT chose this service again due to this shady after move-out re-pricing scheme in which they milk you for more money while having your stuff hostage. read more

After comparing several moving providers for a cross-country move, we decided to go with Zippy Shell. After all, we are all about supporting local businesses over large chains. With the positive online reviews and the competitive rates we decided to abandon ABF U-Pack (who we've used before with a much better experience) to try Zippy Shell. Initially things were great but things quickly were not up to our expectations. For starters, the evening prior to the morning delivery of our shell they attempted to reach us on only one (an office number) of the two phone numbers provided. Then proceeded to send us an email noting that if the driver who had been calling us could not get into contact with us that our move would be cancelled. When we received the email we called back and didn't hear anything until we called again the next morning. The unit did get dropped on the afternoon of the day we scheduled but we had one sleepless night in the middle of move as a result that was NOT at all appreciated. We never received the "multiple voicemails" that had supposedly been left and in an effort to ensure that our things arrived safe and sound at their final destination, we decided not to make a huge deal of the situation even though it was in fact not at all professional. We worked with another owner on the delivery of our unit and they were great. However, once we were settled into our new place and decided to enjoy the beginning of football season we realized that our TV was no longer working. The 55" Samsung TV was only three years old and was working perfectly fine prior to being moved. When I called Zippy Shell about this issue I was told that their insurance does not cover any damage to your individual items, instead its to cover a total loss or major damage of everything in your shell. How helpful considering this "coverage" was promoted during the sales process. In addition, you are providing with a "moving specialist" who is not all that great. She is talked about during the sales process but isn't very helpful and in my opinion doesn't do anything above what any other moving provider does and should do. She is also the one who sent the terribly unprofessional email to us on the eve of our move. As a couple that has moved several times in over the last 10 years, we would defiantly recommend using a different provider and that is exactly what we would do if we could go back and do things again. read more

So awhile ago, I was a bit of a nomad and needed a place to store my stuff for awhile. I googled and spoke to many different companies and had a minor heart attack at the prices they were charging to move and store my belongings. Enter Zippy Shell. Marie, was super nice and accessible during each interaction; mostly importantly, the prices can't be beat. They delivered my Zippy container to my apartment complex, on time, and then picked it up two days later. When I needed outside movers to come up my unit (and I would not be available to come), Marie helped me with this as well. I couldn't be more grateful for Zippy to make my move so easy. Incredible experience, far better than I ever expected. My partner and I initially started planning our move in May, but it was dependent on the sale of our condo. I contacted ZippyShell for an initial estimate, but told them I needed to wait on scheduling until the condo sold. Unfortunately, it would be six months before we needed them, but ZippyShell did a phenomenal job of staying in touch once a month with a quick no-pressure phone call to check in. When the time came to schedule our move, ZippyShell had a trailer to us at our optimal time. For all the pick ups and drop offs we were given a 2-hour window, however ZippyShell was precisely (literally within 5 minutes) of the beginning of the window each time. The driver called when he was 20 minutes out, and again as he arrived. When all of our belongings were dropped off at the final destination the driver stayed with the truck in case it needed to be moved for traffic. For various liability reasons he wasn't allowed to help with the actual unpacking, but he did a great job of making it as easy as possible for us. I particularly appreciated the regular communication we had with the ZippyShell staff. Mack would call to coordinate everything and would then stay in touch over text message for any changes, updates, or confirmations. Further, our delivery was a bit complicated because of narrow alleys and construction, but the ZippyShell staff pulled up a map and imagery to talk through all of it with me over the phone. I really didn't expect the experience to be this good. There wasn't a negative aspect to the entire process, no hidden fees, no delays, and everything was delivered in good order. read more

I moved from NJ to MD. The DC team came out and picked up our stuff, and moved it to Baltimore, and they were fantastic. They were courteous, professional, and were in & out very fast. The Baltimore crew delivered out stuff and a dresser was damaged. I'm not saying it was them, but it was destroyed. This could have been during the 3 month storage....who knows. The crew took my dresser and thew it away. I put in a claim and since it didn't hit the minimum amount of $5000 the claim was denied. So remember, they can destroy ANYTHING up to $5000 (or 1k if you have premium) and you can't do a thing about it. WOW! I'm not happy at all with these people. In addition to this, I agree with other posts. The communication is lacking. My house in NJ was right outside of Philadelphia. I called customer service with a question after I got my quote, and they really didn't know who to transfer me over to since my move wasn't technically long distance, and not a short move (somehow they had 1 person that did regional moves I found out.) I ended up on the line with the President of Zippy Shell, and he had no clue why I was calling him. It was actually very funny. My wife & I were shocked that they gave me his direct cell number. I could honestly go on with other errors I caught, but it's not worth it at this point. I'd recommend POD in the future. It's more money, but you know what you'll be getting. read more

I won't use Zippyshell again because I felt like I paid way too much money and because getting my shells delivered to my new location was way too much hassle. The Maryland franchise only seems to have ONE PERSON scheduling shell deliveries and movers. This is frustrating and it can take weeks to get on their calendar. And don't bother calling corporate customer service. All they can do is transfer you back to the same guy assigned to the Maryland franchise. His voice mail is almost always full and, when I can leave a message, he doesn't call me back for days. From the beginning stages of planning, cost estimates, and final dates of execution, zippy shell's customer service was excellent. The movers arrived promptly with lead time notifications throughout the process. Once arrived, the movers were respectful, professional, and efficient. *Zippy shell has a lot of contractors and local warehouses, individual local warehouse may be fine in running their business but their corporate who you have to deal with is pretty awful* Here are some points I wrote down as I was dealing with them: 1. They do not have the capacity to deliver the services they offer. (In terms of long-distance moving at least) 1) Excuse I often heard was that they were going through changes and things are very backed up. Why didn't you tell me when you were trying to earn my business then? I would've saved both of us lots of trouble. 2) They could tell you now that they magically fixed everything have things together. I wouldn't buy it. If this is how you conduct business, this is how you will always conduct business. 2. You do not get your own coordinator. 1) This means you have to tell them all your information and all your concerns from A to Z to the person who answers your call every single time. 2) Also means they feel less responsible for the work they do. "It wasn't me, I didn't tell you that, etc." 3. They expect you to know ins and outs of the business without telling you. It's your fault you didn't ask for what you didn't know to ask for. 1) Their movers are subcontractors. 2) You are absolutely at the mercy of the warehouse schedule. 3) Zippyshell has no power, "it's the subcontractors and the warehouse." 4. If you are booking in advance and want to make sure the warehouse availability before you book, their answer will be "It's in advance and we do not confirm." (because they expect your request to be approved since it's in advance.) 1) Not true. 2) They still have to request the date. 5. They don't really utilize emails anymore. 1) Incredibly unresponsive. I was told that they are apparently moving away from emails. Interesting operations strategy but regardless, you won't be told this unless you specifically ask. 2) Coordinators are extremely difficult to get a hold of, so you get customer service representatives who are not at the same site and will send a message to the coordinators on your behalf. 3) Customer service representatives sometimes tell you incorrect information (I hope they were truly mistaken and it wasn't a blatant lie) to appease you. 6. Whoever you talk to will promise somebody will get back to you the day of, the day after. Sometimes even 30 minutes if you are really angry. 1) It NEVER happened. 2) Nobody will contact you first from the business. You always have to call them. Unless you haven't signed the contract and they're trying to earn your business. 7. When you request the delivery to be on Friday, and ask them multiple times to let you know if it doesn't work so we can work something else out 1) They will tell you Monday at 3pm that it's going to be Tuesday (the next day!) 2) You'll have to call them first to get this much information. So if I didn't call, not sure what would've happened. 3) Absolutely no additional information other than "it's tomorrow". (Not even a window of time or if dispatch would contact me beforehand, etc) 4) You will have to call again to find out what this email means. read more

CAUTION DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!!! Back in October I hired zippy shell's to move my mom who is 74 years old from Wilmington Delaware to Aurora Colorado. I was quoted an amount and then I would need two shells for the move. When my packers that I hired and paid for arrived they said we would definitely need more than two shells. I called zippy shell to arrange for another pod and they were charging me double of what the first two cost. So I had to make a decision on what to do. I call and talk to Kim explained to her that I was misquoted and that I was going to cancel my move, that my mom could not afford afford another $5000 for another shell. I told her that the two shells that were filled I would leave in their storage area until I made another arrangements. So I owe them $159 times two and a delivery charge. The total amount that I should've paid them was $418, Kim had told me that since I was not canceling the whole service that I would not be charged a cancellation fee because it was just a change. As I waited to be refunded the funds back to my mother I called Kim who then told me they were keeping the money and would not refund the money to my mom. I disputed the amount all about the $418 that was owed with my bank. The bank reversed the charges and I was able to pay the Packers and movers that was helping my brother-in-law move my mom across the country. Several weeks later I noticed on my moms account that the funds were charged back to her. I called The bank and they said the zippy shell's have produce a signed agreement from our original quote. They said zippy shell's had no indication that I had called and changed the services. I again called zippy shell's since they were still trying to collect a monthly fee for my mom's things that was delivered in November. I explained that my mom's things were in their warehouse for 12 days and my mom has had her things since November. I then continued the conversation about the refund again, I was talking to Kim and she said she would look into it. Kim returned my call and stated they would only refund me $582 since we use their packers and movers. I explained that I did not use theirs and that I had paid my packers and movers their fee. Kim stated that they would only refund the 582 and there is no supervisor that could assist me that is all they could do for me and ended the call. I could not have asked for a better experience than Zippy Shell. I had to store my (rather valuable) furniture for a couple of months while I was between houses. The container was delivered to my home on a Friday. I did not have to be home for the delivery, but I was able to communicate where the container should be placed. I loaded everything over the weekend and the container was picked up the following Monday. Again, I did not have to be present. Two months later, my belongings were delivered to the new place and everything was intact. And the delivery and pick-up were smooth like the first time. I hope I will never have to be between houses again, but if I do, I know where to store my belongings! Zippy Shell! read more

I moved in May 2018 and during unloading they significantly damaged multiple items (e.g., dropped an antique organ that broke into many pieces and took packing covers off two white ottomans and then dragged them across the bottom of the truck tearing and staining both). After a few months of back and forth they finally sent out an adjuster last August. Since then, no word. I have called and emailed them dozens of times with no response. Last month finally got someone who said the manager left and he'd have to look into it and call me back. No word back after more than a month. Just called again and after waiting ages for someone to take the call, they said they'd have someone call me and then hung up on me. Avoid this company at all costs. While I get accidents happen, they don't take good care of things and then don't accept accountability for their errors. read more

This company was terrible. We had so many problems with them throughout our move and they had many hidden fees. We moved cross country and their surveyors inaccurately estimated our items after coming to give an estimate prior to our move. After receiving and agreeing to their quote, they upcharged us over $1600 more after they picked up our belongings. Once we arrived to our temp home across the country, we asked to verify that our belongings made it safely and we wanted the address to go and pick up some of our things from storage, as it would be 3 more months before we could get into our new house. After leaving multiple voicemails and emails, they were reluctant to provide this information, saying it's a closed facility and if we wanted access to our items, it would cost another $250 just to open our unit. After already paying over $6000 for this move, plus extra monthly storage fees, the fact that this surprise fee was given just to open the door to access our items felt like our belongings were being held hostage until we paid them MORE money! Also they never provided the address of our storage unit, so we couldn't ever show up. They also wanted an extra $350 to deliver on a Saturday, which was also never shared up front. Also, many of our boxes were returned severely damaged and we had many broken items. Just tons of hidden fees that were never originally quoted or stated in our contracts. They just always wanted more. Had we known about all these fees on top of their already large price tag, we would have used another company. Moving across the country is a huge challenge already and this experience made our journey more stressful and was financially draining. Do not use them for your move if you are relocating to another major city that requires you to be able to plan in advance. They cannot provide you with realistic updates as to the timing of the delivery of your container causing you to have to pay for the reserved parking multiple times. I find it amazing that Amazon can tell me exactly where my teeny tiny package is of 1 item yet this company can say "It's in transit" for 4 days in regards to my entire life's belongings that moved less than a day's drive away. We picked Zippy Shell after getting quotes from PODS and Smart Box, we went with Zippy Shell as being the best value (or so we thought). We like the concept, and how they use stackable storage cages in delivery trailers, but one limitation is that a driver can only deliver one Pod at a time, so if you have more than one, the savings start to diminish, and the you run into challenges with their limited number of drivers being able to get your pods where you need them when you need them. The drivers were great and when they were finally scheduled, they did everything they said they would, placed the pods exactly as requested. But scheduling contacted me and said they were too overbooked and couldn't deliver on the date we planned to move into our new place (unless we were prepared to empty our pods at 7 am and have them done in less than two hours) As for Value, the price I was quoted by the salesmen was a discounted rate from their normal price, and he conformed this price with an email, I even emailed him back and requested he conform it, but when I was billed it was a higher price. Zippy Pod appears to be a new company (with potential) , perhaps suffering from growing pains, and they don't communicate amongst themselves very well, (for example asking me to write a review despite repeated emails to them asking why they charged me a higher price than what I was quoted, and also changing the terms of the delivery of my two pods to my new apartment.) Hopefully I will still get my $10 Starbucks card, who can't use starbucks?) read more

I was happy to see that a local company provided this service. I initially dealt with a Chris Saturno who was very pleasant and made everything easy in the beginning.The quote given was cheaper than both competitors POD and Pack Rat. There were minor communication issues with the dispatcher (via text) and myself however nothing that influenced the process. The shell arrived by Tim who was very friendly, knew what he was doing, and took the time to sweep out the shell. When he returned it he put it in the middle of my driveway which was an issue but again, we were able to get it fixed. The experience was good and the people were nice. I haven't reviewed my charges yet but I am hoping everything lines up correctly with the quote I was given. I would use them again. read more

Although they did not have a unit for me to utilize when I first contacted them, they rearranged their schedule in order to help me out. They were efficient in all phone calls, incredibly thorough in the details they provided and my shell arrived EARLY. I would recommend this company to all of my friends and neighbors in a heartbeat. The person who delivered and picked up the shell was courteous, efficient, and took pride in his work. I am so grateful for the help they provided in packing up my house.They were even able to help me get movers arranged at the last minute. They are way past the contract date and literally nobody will tell us where their stuff is. Worse part, my Grandma has her medical equipment in her stuff! They lied about door to door and now are saying that WE have to go pick it up. Like, after 4K and a month you tell us this now??? It's truly the craziest thing I have ever heard in my life. Sacramento CA --Rented one of these way smaller than advertised containers. Contains inner cage where your stuff goes, which greatly reduces usable square feet. They delivered. We loaded. Was to be stored in Sacramento warehouse ~4 mos. About 6 wks later, a RUDE young guy called and said Sacramento company was closing and my stuff was going to be moved to SF area. I said NO, bc it was not packed to be moved 180 miles round trip. His response was that I didn't have a choice unless I wanted to take my stuff back THAT VERY AFTERNOON. I TOLD HIM I DIDNT HAVE A PLACE TO TAKE IT W/ such short notice! They moved it. Three months later, I took out of storage. They drove it all the way back; ~90 miles. My beautiful furniture has SO MANY SCRATCHES AND GOUGES. They were not careful. I filed a claim. They assured me it would be paid. IT WAS REJECTED. Their reason: OOPS, WE FILED WITH THE WRONG INS CO!!! I never received a penny for all the damage. THEY ARE UNPROFESSIONAL AND DON'T GIVE A ROYAL RAT ABOUT THEIR SO-CALLED CUSTOMER! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! This company doesn't have a decent rating at all. Not even mentioned on TOP 5 Lists for container companies. Franchisee in Sacramento closed for business less than a month after they took my container to storage so they TOTALLY KNEW they were not making it and still contracted with me and others. DECEPTIVE. I called yesterday to get an email quote (that was only good for 48 hours), and I tried calling back today with a few more questions, and to reserve a unit. The first time I reached a representative they hung up on me. So I called back immediately. The second time I got through but the rep said said they were SO BUSY that my call went to overflow. So he took down some basic info, and said someone would call back in minutes. Well 3.5 hours later...still no call. If I can't even get through to reserve a unit. How in the heck can I trust them with our belongings?! And now we will miss the window of pricing (as apparently they are going up). So frustrating read more

Very pleased with Zippy Shell and especially liked their approach to pricing, using container size and distance, and not weight. This is particularly good for smaller moves like mine (one bedroom condo). I got all my belongings in their smaller shell. The move went smoothly, on time, and there was good communication along the way. I also used their recommended packers (Cargoroo Logistics) in the DC area for boxing my stuff and packing it into the shell. I had a great experience with Zippy Shell. I used Zippy Shell this past summer when I was moving from one apartment to another and I had about two weeks between the leases. Zippy Shell was the perfect solution because the shell was delivered right to my door and allowed me to keep my things in storage and then delivered right to my door again at my new location. The drivers were extremely courteous and worked really hard to me overcome the challenges of living in the city. For example, I had retained a parking permit so that I can reserve a parking spot for the Zippy Shell over the two day moving period. Zippy Shell waited patiently as I worked to get the drivers who didn't comply with the permit so that the Shell would fit. They were also really speedy with the pick-up for both deliveries. I would recommend getting the larger storage container. I have a one bedroom apartment and with my bedroom furniture and living room furniture, the smaller size did not fit. Call ahead to schedule all the deliveries and pick-ups, you don't want to get caught in a situation where the shell can't be picked up but needs to be due to outside forces. read more

Zippy Shell was very easy to work with. They let me know when the shell would be delivered and when it would be picked up. It was really very simple. If I could give zero stars I would do that. Zippy Shell is a mess of a company. They have TERRIBLE customer service who lie straight to you and can never give you any legit answers in regards to the whereabouts of your things. They claim to not be able to track any shipments. So this company is loading up everything you own... with no way to know where it is along the route?? Like, my contract length was up with no sign of my stuff so I called to ask where it was.. every single response was the same.. "it's in transit but it looks like there's a delay". But they never could tell me where it was "in transit" or what caused the delay. Even the freight Manager Lauren had no answers. Turns out it was never in transit and sat in Salt Lake City for 26 days while they lied to us. They're never apologetic about how awful of a job they're doing, they don't care at all that your 4 little kids are sleeping and eating on the floor for a month. They never return phone calls and trying to talk to someone other than the same old customer service call center girls is a nightmare. We paid $8000 for a move cross-country and they were 12 days past the long end of the contract and only offered us $300 for compensation "for our troubles". What a joke. $300 off my $8000 bill? Gee, thanks Lauren. Please, do not use this company. Please please please! They're rotten and they don't care about the customer at all. They're Better Business Bureau rating is an F but they actually don't even care because they're not even accredited with the BBB. Update: they ended up agreeing to give us $1000 only after the BBB got heavily involved but we have yet to see it. In order to settle over the amount refunded they also require the contract owner to never write any negative reviews and remove any negative reviews. How shady can they get? We'll see if the $1000 ever actually comes through. So far it's been two months since we accepted their offer. read more

This is my first yelp review ever. This moving experience from Washington, DC to San Francisco this December (now it's a week into January) has been an absolute nightmare due to the lack of transparency from Zippy Shell. While I understand that with a long distance move there can be flexibility needed within a few days, my container was picked up in DC on 12/15 (after receiving conflicting information already at this point about needing to sign for the container/call off work to be home or not) and I am still without my shell. About two weeks ago, I called Zippy because I needed to arrange for a parking permit (you need one on the streets of San Francisco to guarantee space for the shell). I also was misled/not informed of the immense impact that the holidays would have on the contract and shipping time which felt very deceptive and has left me without items for an additional week. The parking permit was going to cost me $365 and would take 6+ days to process with the city of San Francisco, so I called for the delivery date. I was transferred directly to the SF warehouse (which I learned today was not company policy but I "must have spoken to the wrong person"). I spoke to the warehouse who confirmed with me that my shell would be delivered 1/4 (yesterday) and so I arranged for the parking permit and moving with labor for 1/5. On 1/4, I received a call from the immensely helpful warehouse notifying me that my container never arrived. We were unable to get an update because it was 2:30pm on the west coast and the freight company was closed. How is it 2017 and there's no way to track these deliveries except calling a corporate office that closes at 4:30pm and is open M-F? I then received an email from Zippy that my delivery was confirmed for 1/5, so thought it would be here today at least. Today, I was informed that it will be delivered on Monday (which I can't trust now). I am now out nearly $400 for a parking permit I did not use, had to cancel loads of other pre-arranged appointments such as tv mounting, a cleaning service, etc. all incurring last minute cancellation fees. I am furious and had zero real non-scripted assistance when contacting Zippy today. They merely deflected me to coordinate with the warehouse. Never again. read more

This is by far the absolute worst experience I've ever had with a company. I booked them for their reasonable price and seemingly solid reviews on Yelp. For some reason my experience could not have been further from the average persons. I book them a month in advance for a shell to be delivered and then picked up to be put in storage. The cost was fair and straightforward. Moving week rolls around and I call to confirm the delivery and time, which they did and let me know it would be coming between 8am and noon. Moving day comes (mind you I have to be OUT of my apartment by days end) and they are nowhere to be found at noon. I call, get an answering "overflow" service who tells me they will leave a message at the main company's office. Another 45 minutes go by with no call back from Zippy shell. I call again, and once again get an answering service who tells me they can't connect me with anyone who works at Zippy Shell and that all they can do is leave a message. I now have movers sitting and waiting with nothing to do. Another 30 minutes goes by. No call. I call back, and get the same BS response from the answering service company spokesperson who can only leave Zippy Shell a message. At this point I am absolutely freaking out and have no idea how I'm going to move. It's been over 3 hours now since they were supposed to be here and I've had to make other arrangements to move because no one at this company will get back to me. It is horrendous customer service and I hope that they pay for their atrocious business practices. I will be following up with an attorney to see if I have any recourse. We had all of our belongings in storage for one year with Zippy Shell and we had a great experience. The DC area customer service center was friendly, communicative, and accurate in everything they said and quoted. The delivery of our shell at the start of storage was complicated due to our tiny alley, but the driver was patient and professional. Delivery of the storage unit at the end was easy, on time, and every single thing was as we left it one year ago. I absolutely recommend Zippy Shell and would totally use them again. read more

I used Zippy Shells for my move out of my house last summer and into my new house just a week ago. From the day I contacted Zippy Shells, I was greeted by professional, friendly representatives. They are a class act and I highly recommend them. The drivers were polite and very helpful. Although they do not have actual representatives to physically move your furniture, they do provide a long list of companies that you can contact. I used a mover from their list and was extremely happy with the company. read more
