One of the best touchless car washes I've been too. Pricing was great, the ultimate is only $20. The car wash is staffed with guys to "de-bug" the front of your car prior to going in and to keep towels on site. Vacuums are included and on both sides of the car for ease. Having the towels was awesome because I was able to make sure my car was shining when I left. I also loved that the drying cycle isn't just a fan. It includes heat, air and a buffer to go over the top of the car. I haven't been to a touchless wash that offers that. Staff were super friendly and location is perfect unless you hate Wards Road traffic. Also gives you an excuse to get out of it for a minute if you're headed home. Will definitely be back. read more

My dad passed away and I called to cancel his membership in Dec and they continued charging my mom (who is in assisted living) for four more months -- It took 3 phone calls - sitting on hold each time to finally get it them to stop charging. Drive thru full only ONE Person working at the facility. Cars backed up. The guy was very nice doing the best he could. But if you don't have enough help close it down. People waiting in a LONG line and can't back out. Having to wait 30 minutes just to wait again until that one guy can lead you in to start your vehicle wash. This has to be the most rundown car wash that Zips owns. Half the time I go there, none of the vacuums are working or they are completely disconnected, and many are full of gunk, forcing you to clean them out yourself. The air hoses mostly squirt out water, and the car wash tunnel itself is very dirty. Additionally, it seems like many of the soaps and other products in the car wash aren't functioning properly. However, I will say that the service there is good, and the staff is very friendly. The owner just needs to update everything. read more

The Wards road location has gone down. Do not go there. Go to the other 3-4 car washes of this type in Lynchburg. I juts came from there. There were only 2-3 working vacuums. Trash all over parking lot. The car wash left dirty spots all over my vehicle and the detailing cloths were dirty and had debris all over them making it useless to use on the interior. I did a membership and called to cancel before my next month's payment. I was then told it was too late because you have to cancel a week before. I talked with other employees and was told I should have gotten my refund. Still denied my refund when I would call. I don't recommends getting their membership. Joined the monthly car wash club when they were actually prepping the vehicles. Now they just push the button and walk back inside. If you want your vehicle "clean" you'll have to scrub it down with the rags outside. If they have any of those readily available. read more

After more than a year since Zips acquired the Lightning Car Washes in the Lynchburg area... All I can say it has continuously gone down hill. First signs ... they stopped hand brushing windows and grills. Next they stopped any wand pre wash. ( after complaints, they now do the driver side, sometimes ) Employees have stated they use cheap, inferior chemicals as compared to the former Owners. Always and I mean ALWAYS it is a crap shoot to find a working Vacuum. Today took 5 tries to find one partially working. The towels are never fully dry. In today's freezing temps the cloth were so damp they were frozen and hard. The lot is often littered and unswept. Today, much of the area is covered in ice that was never cleared from days ago. ( Timberlake Road location ). Visited twice this past weekend and both times, the wash was shut down due to " tunnel failure " according to an employee. I get that things break down but ALWAYS, ALWAYS... something broken ? Perhaps better maintenance and not pinching every cent to provide a better service may be helpful ? went there for undercarriage wash to get road salt off repeatedly confirmed with the guy standing by the credit card board that for $18 I would in fact to get the underside of my van hosed down with sprayers went back there with a friend the next day, and for the same service it was apparently now $24 so I asked him well then what did I get for $18 yesterday in my other car and they said well he Musta lied to you for $18. You don't get an undercarriage wash so he refused to reimburse me the $18 and allow me to get another $24 wash tried to talk me into the $10 a month club which is coincidentally only credit card payments. This place is clearly a scam. No one even touches your car any step of the way even for $24 this place has a monopoly in Lynchburg. I went to the Zip car wash in South Knoxville. Paid $10.00 for a poor job. A month later they charged my credit card $25.00 for a membership I never purchased. I called the company and reported the charge and received a response that they will cancel my membership but won't issue a refund because the request was not done 7 days prior to billing. This is probably the least reliable car washe I've ever encountered. Frequently "closed for maintenance ", two of the three payment stations do not work and for the one that's "open" I constantly watch people in front of me struggle with the payment station - requiring an employee to come out and help with the payment station. The carpet brush device has been down for months, the drivers side rotating brush hasn't spun for months and the back and forth spray right before the blowers starts in the middle of your hood and swishes back and forth to feet beyond the passenger side of the car. I have two monthly car washes on recurring billing. I will be cancelling and finding somewhere else to take my two cars. read more

Though the car wash physically okay at best I signed up for their 30 day free trial and received an email October 6th confirming my account. I was billed 45$ which is atrocious for a 1 month subscription on November 1st, I called and they said I wasn't able to be refunded and all they offered me was a 20$ subscription, the only viable way you can even remember when to cancel is you literally have to make a note the day of as for some reason an email system has a 6 day delay. DO NOT get the membership, the service was poor, and I will not be taking my car back here again, it almost feels like theft. read more

Their new point of sale device automatically enrolls you in their club...I am not from this area, only passing thru...their toll free number actually rings to another business not related. Their on-site people say they've tons of complaints but aren't allowed to refund. Their own client service email says they will respond in 72 hour, it's been 14 days with no response. I should have read Yelp before hand and would have seen all the negative reviews. Lesson learned. read more

I have hit up this Zips on Wards road and Express car wash on Timberlake. Unlike Express, Zips takes the time to spray down the front and sides of your car to take off all the bugs. The guy at Express had the same equipment and ability to do just as good of a job, however he just stood their. Don't go to Express. I had the misfortune of visiting the Lynchburg VA Zips for a wash. I purchased their highest priced ($25) wash. I immediately was not impressed by the prep. The guy hosed the drivers side in a mediocre fashion and sent me through. After going through I pulled into a vacuum area and inspected the wash job. Terrible. My front bumper and grill were still full of bugs and three huge bird dropping spots on the hood were still plainly visible. I pulled around and got out and was met by a lady who told me to go ahead and go through again. Same, I mean exact same result. I pulled around again and a tall young guy came out with the lady and stated that the bird droppings may never come out. I then explained to him that I've installed car/bus/truck washes for years and that they would definitely come out but that they are using a weak acid mix (can you say cheap) but he just kept insisting he was right. I left and won't be back. A few days later I was down the street at Lynchburg carwash. I got their top was ($19) and what a difference. The prep area had two guys who sprayed the whole car then used soapy brushes and pre-scrubbed before I was sent through. No more bugs or bird droppings! read more

Ever since the car wash changed to Zips, I have seen the quality gradually go down. It appears that no one ever picks up trash and several of the vacuums do not work well or at all. When I began to notice that the brushes were scuffing up my paint, I tried to cancel my membership. The attendant said that they are not allowed to cancel memberships and gave me a number to call. The wash was fine but I had soap on the back of my Outback. I wanted to wipe the back of my car but the towels were all frozen together and the cleaning fluid was frozen solid. I realize it doesn't get below freezing for too long in Lynchburg, but there are solutions to these issues. I've been a member and have been coming to this car wash for 1 1/2 years but the service has been terrible the last few times I've been there. I usually get the top wash since I have that membership. some of the features I used to have they either don't work or the employees didn't push the correct button and the wash just isn't the same as it used to be. They don't power wash/spray my vehicle anymore. The employees don't seem motivated to move vehicles through and just waved me through and that was it. Honestly, this used to be a good car wash but I would rather go to another one in town now because this car wash place has gone down hill.
