About 3,000 people worldwide are diagnosed with this every year. Anyhow we're fortunate to be in Philly where there is world class medicine, and he's a retired Union telephone worker which meant his health insurance was good. What does this have to do with Dr. Turner? Good question. Many of the doctors who took care of my dad were very specialized. When I asked if they'd look at a spot on my skin, they said no, because they don't see routine skin issues. Instead, his team sent me to Dr. Turner. I've been seeing her ever since. Her office is on the ground floor of a professional building near Bryn Mawr Hospital. Easy to get to and plenty of parking in their rear lot, which is also the building main entrance. Her office is clean and bright, her staff friendly and she's very easy to talk to, especially when I'm always secretly terrified I'll also get a rare cancer like dad (not hereditary). I would recommend her for medical dermatology in a heartbeat. I don't use any cosmetic skin care so I can't peak to that.

After being roomed, I was told I could only discuss one of the two main concerns that brought me in. When I asked why, I got a confusing explanation that AI had "messed up" the scheduling. The PA was extremely rushed, short, and rude throughout the entire appointment. She spoke very quickly, used medical terminology without explaining it, and when I asked for clarification, told me she was "educating" me in a sarcastic tone. Her demeanor made me feel embarrassed for taking up her time, as though I was an inconvenience. I felt like I was being hurried out rather than cared for. Later, I found inaccuracies in my visit notes, including incorrect locations of areas I had identified as concerns. Dr. Turner later called, apologized, and offered a referral, which I appreciated. However, I had already decided to seek care elsewhere and now have to repeat the skin check. Very disappointing experience.

The tricked me into have a test done that was not strictly necessary by making it sound like it was included, which it was not and cost additional money. They then did not even give me the results for the test, I received no communication about it from them so I was essentially tricked into paying for a service I did not even receive. Both myself and my insurance also had trouble contacting them about billing information. I think there are better providers and office out there if you need a dermatologist.

We all agree he is the standard by which all of us believe physicians should be measured. Not only is he expert in his knowledge and his clinical applications, he is inevitably polite, compassionate and employs cutting edged standards. I returned again for my second visit in January 2017. The purpose of my visit is a standard full body exam of the skin, and not for a specific reason or issue. On both visits, I was ushered in within minutes of my scheduled appointment, and only waited a few minutes in the exam room. The exams were thorough, and Dr. Solotoff explains as he goes through the exam, alerting you to things you should know so you can do your own self exams between visits. He has excellent bedside manner, is polite, friendly and keeps you at ease. His staff is equally friendly and professional. This is truly an A+ experience in every aspect! First Time Tips: The office is inside a primarily residential building, so ask in advance about parking and access, as the lot / entrance can be confusing. They do not take credit or debit cards as payment. So if you have a healthcare plan with a some type of debit card, you'll need to request payment to the provider (or make it yourself and request reimbursement).
