Steven Zlochiver is an excellent attorney who understands how the system works and fights hard for his clients. I highly recommend him.

She was absolutely fantastic, walking me through all of the complexities of the purchase. I have used her three times since then for real estate transactions, and she has never left me feeling confused or looked down on. She held my hands through panic (most memorably, the bats we found in my home a week before close and were told we could not legally evict for months!). Cynthia and her support team at the firm have always felt completely in my corner, responsive to my needs and questions, and respectful of me as a client. I would absolutely use them again.

Communication was reactive rather than proactive, and much of the time we had to chase updates or check the probate court docket ourselves. As first-time buyers, we needed more guidance and reassurance than we received. We also had issues with her paralegal, Stacey, who sent us an extremely rude and dismissive email that turned out to be wrong. This contributed to more preventable delays and costs, and Keira never addressed it with us. Keira's tone was often blunt, dismissive, and at times rude. For example, when my husband (who is an attorney but not a real estate attorney) asked her for her professional estimate based on her experience, she responded: "You're an attorney, you know that the court is unpredictable." That kind of remark was passive-aggressive and unhelpful, and it set the tone for much of our relationship with her. We also repeatedly asked her to communicate with us more proactively, but nothing ever changed. At closing, she asked us to sign two optional items we had opted out of earlier in the process. She said she needed to "check" to make sure we weren't being charged for them in the closing costs. I had already confirmed we weren't, and this is something her office should have caught when reviewing the final numbers. Instead, it created more unnecessary confusion at the table. Keira's style of communication made an already stressful process much harder than it needed to be. Edit: I have gone back and updated my review. After posting this review, the managing partner, Peter Kajko, personally reached out to us. He was kind, heartfelt, and genuinely listened to our concerns. He acknowledged our frustrations, explained the firm's perspective, and took the time to make sure we felt heard. While our experience with Keira was disappointing, we truly appreciated Peter's professionalism and sincerity in addressing the situation

They requested calling back to see if they could give me an appointment after the first of the year. My husband called for me the second time and with some insistence, one of the attorneys reluctantly took the call (he said as much). He stated he could not help me and he literally said, "I have my coat on and a box under my arm, I cannot help you. I don't know anything about your father's estate. Call back in January and I will see if I can fit you in. I am very busy, and I am booked until March. I would have to find a place I could squeeze you in" His tone of voice was annoyed, and his statements were arrogant. No compassion for the loss I was experiencing and zero help in any capacity. Even though the lawyer my father worked with was not there anymore. The firm should have treated me with some respect and at least made an appointment for me to come in and discuss my father's estate. That was all I was asking for. I called another estate planning firm, and they were extremely helpful and showed great compassion. I was able to make an appointment right away. if you would like an estate attorney who is responsive and caring I recommend the law offices of James A Miller.

Not only did his office (and he, personally) take care of my legal needs in a safe, professional manner, but he had insight into my own personal requirements. I really appreciated his "plain and simple" approach. We met with him first to understand just what our situation required, then that small cost for the initial consultation was applied to the larger bill - so really that first consultation is included in the services Joel Bernstein provided. I did shop around, read reviews and spent a bit of time finding out how much such estate planning requires - how much money, how much time and what to expect; Joel B. was right in the middle for expenses, but provided more consultation and was very responsive and made me feel understood and cared for. He was the ONLY lawyer with whom we met who caught some critical issues in my personal estate planning that had gone unnoticed by everyone else we consulted with. For comprehensive, professional estate planning with a smart, caring and wise attorney, go with Joel Bernstein in Lexington Massachusetts!

She blatantly told me Joel was not assisting anyone, new, any longer, due to the number of individuals calling him. When I asked her why he continues to advertise non-stop, her response was, "Because he wants to help people." There is a problem with this picture. His "helping", is hurting and disillusioning the vulnerable. I ask, why would he continue to "urge individuals, through his advertising, to contact him? To dishearten these individuals is cruel. Find someone else who, may be more caring, and certainly does not lead you into a "hole" of empty expectations. This is an example of why lawyers receive a "bad name'.
