I hired ZMax Movers for a moderately sized move from a one bedroom apartment in MD to another in VA just this past weekend. I hired them in a pinch because my previous rental had a bit of a pest problem, but they had no issues fitting me into their schedule. I will admit with that on top of the lower price than pretty much everyone I looked at I began to raise my eyebrows, but I was pretty desperate and decided to pull the trigger. I'm glad I did. They were expedient and professional, and all my items arrived undamaged. I do have to say, though: There did seem to be a slight communication issue when they realized the place I was moving into was up three flights of stairs and had no service elevator. Even though I indicated this in the initial application, it came as a surprise to the guys, and they did notify me that the price of the job would be adjusted accordingly. It ended up still being substantially more affordable than others I quoted and, to be quite honest, I agreed that it was not the easiest job, but I would recommend posting such stuff on your site to prevent such additions coming across as "hidden fees." read more

What I can say, is these guys work hard. However, I do not feel as though they prepared well for our move. When they walked into the house on moving day, the fact that they were moving a 3 level single family home was a surprise to them. Would recommend that they begin asking potential clients to come view the scope of work beforehand. The actual move ended up taking 15 hours. The crew definitely needed an extra truck and more hands on deck. In the end it resulted in finding out at the last minute that they could not move 3 of our more expensive pieces of furniture. Again, if the scope of work was understood beforehand, I think things would gone a little smoother. Nonetheless, the workers were tireless, polite and only took one break in 15 hours, I'll certainly commend them for that. I don't believe the move should've taken 15 hours though if another truck was readily available (which they told us after the first trip to and from would be needed). All in all, I'd still recommend them, I think they had some valuable lessons learned, but I'd advise customers that if they need something disassembled, that they do it before the movers arrive, because we did lose an armoire due to disassembly of the crew. However, management came out the next day and offered a fair compensation. ZMax has a great group of guys, and I hope they continue to thrive as a business. read more

I can't rave enough about ZMax - we're so glad that we used them! The price was one of the lowest that we were quoted and the guys were professional and personable. They let me know when they were on their way and communicated throughout it the whole process. They worked quickly and efficiently the entire day too. We ended up having way too much stuff (understatement of the year) so we needed a second moving day; they were happy to come back and help again (we were sure they would ghost us after the first day - they worked from 10am to around 3:30am without complaint with only a break for lunch in the afternoon). They took care with our things and brought tools to help disassemble and reassemble furniture (they also wrapped them to ensure they wouldn't be damaged - there were no hidden fees or surprises with the cost either). Hired them originally for a Monday (local move) then had to reschedule to a Tuesday. Contacted the owner max and he was very accommodating to my erratic schedule. Anyway, Day of the move came, his crew which I originally thought were "youngsters and inexperienced" were very thorough and efficient! They were pros at the job and I was pleasantly surprised how they packed the 18 ft truck. They handled all our furniture carefully and placed them where they should be. Max came to help as well which made the move more efficient as it was already getting late. They started at 3:30, ended at 10:30. Way passed the time that we were calculating in our heads, we thought it would only be about 4 hours but boy, it took forever. They didn't stop until the move was finished and job was complete! ZMax movers is a quality moving company. They were one of the most professional, fast, and reliable moving companies. They called a day ahead to confirm, then again when they were on their way. They even showed up early. The movers took excellent care of my furniture by wrapping each piece carefully before loading it. Moving can be daunting. Packing, timing the move, getting outlandishly useless quotes from movers ("No hidden fees. We charge only by hour. Between 4.5 and 9 hours"), not to mention putting your stuff in the hands of strangers. Not these guys. Of 20 quotes I asked for on Yelp, Zmax was the only one to offer to come actually see my place (for free) to give an accurate quote. He was upfront about the need for 3 guys (3rd floor walk up) and quoted me 4 hours, provided everything was packed up. Even with 3 guys, their pricing was very competitive. We agreed to a time and they were there on time. They were super courteous to my wife and son, quick, efficient, and careful. Whenever I felt the need to help out they assured me it was not necessary, and paid excellent attention to where things should be placed and any set up they could assist with. I particularly liked Maksim coaching the other guys on occasion in more efficient and fast ways to do things to keep it quick for them and me. No gouging or feet dragging whatsoever. They came in under budget, and were super simple to pay. The place looks great. Nothing broken or damaged. I put out some decorative items and orderedlunch and just relaxed the rest of the afternoon.
