The long, dramatic review: I just wanted to cry tears of joy. My dad called to tell me that he is absolutely THRILLED with his new, custom trousers and shirt, and that I could not have given him a better Father's Day present. Why did this touch me so? My dad is a man who lovingly and gracefully raised three girls with all of the body issues that accompany that endeavor. He has been having body issues of his own for the last 3 years. Complaining of a stomach ache, he ended up having emergency appendix removal, appendix exploded on the table, 9" of intestines removed and a month in the hospital. He has not really been the same since. His body dramatically changed shape and none of his clothes fit right after that month. Dad was always a dapper dresser, with the kind of attention to the details that made my mom smile and say he would have made a great hair dresser. I do not think I have ever EVER seen my dad in a t-shirt or in jeans. He is snappy, and he likes to look snappy. He did not believe that the clothes would fit any better than what he could get from a men's store. Holly comes to your home, does about 100 measurements, talks with you while you choose specific fabrics from her many samples that you can touch and feel. You also choose specific design details for your shirt, trousers, or jacket. She arrives at your home later with the goods. I have a friend who looks like a model and is on the "call" list for By George For Men and Stag. He loves to look sharp and that can be very spendy. He now has several custom shirts, trousers, and even a jacket from J. Hilburn that make him look like a million bucks without breaking the bank. Once they have your measurements in the system, friends and family have a very easy job buying you the perfectly fitted shirt or trousers... and my dad even admitted that it is not anything at all like the clothing at a men's store, made for the masses. He went from, "nothing will ever fit quite right" to, "can you call Holly and order another shirt?"

I wanted to share my experience with an incredible tailor/seamstress/alterations. I had the perfect dress ordered. Covered head to toe in beads. When it arrived it was going to require about $2000 plus in alterations (even though it was a custom dress). I just sat down and cried. Here we are going through a pandemic, my fiance has a heart attack and it leads to a triple heart bypass, my wedding will more than likely be delayed and my $4000 plus dress does not fit. I didn't have the kind of money to basically have my dress altered to actually fit me and started to believe I would just need to give up and find some cheapie dress that actually fit. And then I was connect with Wong Long. She cut me some discounts knowing what I was going through. My beaded head to toe dress needed to have most of the beads taken off, be taken in at least 4 inches on each side and in the shoulders (which are also all beads) and be hemmed to fit my 5 foot tall self. I just got home from my first fitting after she did the alterations on the sides of the dress. SHE IS AMAZING. Shes done all this work for a beyond fair price and has made the entire experience a one on one thing rather than me feeling like a number coming in and getting adjusted. She wears a mask, took my temperature and she has a whole back showroom with wall to wall mirrors so you can see every angle of your dress and if something should be changed or moved. If you need alterations..... PLEASE go to her. Shes a one woman team who has more years experience than I have been alive (and Im 39). I couldnt be happier with her help and I promise you will NOT be disappointed. PLEASE tell her I sent you. Im forever grateful to her. (she only deals in cash and checks so no extra charges incur). The trousers ripped in the crotch and in the seat when I was getting in the car at the end of my wedding night. When I went back they claimed that they couldn't do anything but sell me a replacement pair of trousers. They also put it on the manufacturers of the suit and the type of material that was used. I'm very disappointed in the quality of the material and that this has happened. If I would've know this then I would've just rented instead of investing my money into a suit that was going to get only one use. Be cautious when dealing with Modern Man.

She lied to my face by saying she tried to clean it but said it wouldn't come out and then had the nerve to say it didnt matter because no one would notice...yeah! A giant orange stain on my butt!! It took my mother 2 minutes of scrubbing to get out the stain, so it's clear she didn't even try!! Was never told until pickup how much just a hem would be to alter- 300 bucks!? Also told me at my final fitting that I had gained weight about 20 times and would NOT stop saying it despite my fiance and dad sitting in the next room (note I've lost 12 lbs between 1st and final fittings) ... Who tells any bride 4 days before their wedding that they've gained weight!? SO RUDE. Such a mess... avoid!!!!

I think some brides get confused with her…read morework ethic though; she will not do a job for you until closer to your wedding date (in terms of her having less liability for a bride loosing or gaining weight). She worked with me on what I planned on doing my wedding day, so that the dress could work around me. Also, she was genuinely interested in my future husband, how things were going, what my family was feeling... the whole deal. It was nice to talk with such a veteran of the field. However, with this experience I also got to hear her frustrations about other clients. I felt that I was put in awkward situation listening them. That's not to say that the quality of her alterations is lacking. She did a great job and I love my dress. It was a little pricey, but I still believe it was worth it. So here are my recommendations on working with Lupee: 1. Be respectful. The woman knows what she's doing, and you are also in her home. 2. Do not expect to get your dress fitted until 2 months or less before the wedding. 3. When in doubt, ask! She gives honest opinions. 4. And don't bring your family to the fittings. You are wearing the dress, not them. Besides, Lupee becomes a second Mom anyway. :)
