I want to start this out by saying - I did read the reviews listed below... and while I understand some of whats said - I do want to say that different cultures speak differently to each other and in my experience growing up in Houston, many Vietnamese women can come across as loud or strong spoken. If you aren't familiar with Asian culture, just understand its different and please don't take it personal. As long as you are clear and direct about your wants and needs - Wong will listen and do it right. You cannot be a bride who shows up and stands quietly when something doesn't feel right. They will never know unless you say something. EVERY little detail I asked for along the way Wong and I have talked about and she made the process simple and clear for me. Especially in a time of pandemic when we are already very vulnerable - she made me feel good about my experience all around. Hi ladies! I wanted to share my experience with an incredible tailor/seamstress/alterations. I had the perfect dress ordered. Covered head to toe in beads. When it arrived it was going to require about $2000 plus in alterations (even though it was a custom dress). I just sat down and cried. Here we are going through a pandemic, my fiance has a heart attack and it leads to a triple heart bypass, my wedding will more than likely be delayed and my $4000 plus dress does not fit. I didn't have the kind of money to basically have my dress altered to actually fit me and started to believe I would just need to give up and find some cheapie dress that actually fit. And then I was connect with Wong Long. She cut me some discounts knowing what I was going through. My beaded head to toe dress needed to have most of the beads taken off, be taken in at least 4 inches on each side and in the shoulders (which are also all beads) and be hemmed to fit my 5 foot tall self. I just got home from my first fitting after she did the alterations on the sides of the dress. SHE IS AMAZING. Shes done all this work for a beyond fair price and has made the entire experience a one on one thing rather than me feeling like a number coming in and getting adjusted. She wears a mask, took my temperature and she has a whole back showroom with wall to wall mirrors so you can see every angle of your dress and if something should be changed or moved. If you need alterations..... PLEASE go to her. Shes a one woman team who has more years experience than I have been alive (and Im 39). I couldnt be happier with her help and I promise you will NOT be disappointed. PLEASE tell her I sent you. Im forever grateful to her. (she only deals in cash and checks so no extra charges incur). Wong Long altered my wedding dress for my first wedding in 2007, it was a Monique Lhuillier gown and had extremely intricate beading. The result was stunning & you couldn't see that anything had been altered. Highly impressed. Since then I have taken many things to her & always perfection. How can I say in less than 500 words how UNPROFESSIONAL we found Wong to be and how COMPLETELY STRESSFUL the whole experience was. Another review said Wong was REALLY expensive, are you kidding? She was not even in the ballpark and we went to two other places. Wong however did not tell us the cost till after 1 hour and 45 minutes into the first fitting. OK, my bad, I should have asked her in the first 15 minutes but seriously, I'm only the mother of the bride, she's the professional. We paid 50% of total cost. Second fitting 3 weeks later: she had taken in sides of the dress way too much, ridiculous since she measured. And then, the killer, she doubted the amount she was to cut from each of the three layers of hems that she pinned so, instead of calling us, she took out all of the pins and made the bride stand for ANOTHER hour and a half while she pinned and cut. Basically, nothing was accomplished in the three weeks that she had the dress. We are now just under 2 weeks before the wedding. She then asked that we pay in full. What the what? I lost my mind and paid. She holds me, the dress and the whole wedding hostage. Third fitting: eight days before the wedding. Side seams fit, she still has to do hems. We pick up the dress five days before the wedding. We breathe easier once we have the dress in our hands and I thank Wong and tell her that I can not recommend her and I tell her why. She refuses to take any responsibility or cop to her unprofessionalism. Ok, that's up to her. Night before the wedding, I notice that there are open seams on the sides of the bodice where she altered them. Wedding day, bride looks stunning and I don't even think about Wong. It is my pleasure to review the vendors we used for our wedding, I get to give five and four stars to most of them, Wong gets one star and if it were possible I would give her a meteorite. PS. Both the bride and I were very polite throughout this nightmare. read more

Wong Long, if I could give you more stars, I would!!!! She is amazing! Long story short, I took my wedding dress into a nearby tailor to have it altered to be smaller...but that tailor made it bigger! I was in tears because my wedding was ONE WEEK AWAY. I called Wong Long and she saw me the next day, and even postponed a weekend trip so that she'd have it finished in time. I picked up my wedding dress the morning of the wedding but was not at all panicked because I knew I was in good hands. The dress looked amazing and she was so nice the entire time. I just picked up my dress from Wong Long and was VERY pleased! Wong Long was the recommended alteration site from Belle Saisson, and I am very glad I went with her! My dress is very intricate lace and beading and she handled it with care. All I really needed was the bustle and some buttons reinforced and she had it in done in less than 2 weeks. Also, I have no idea what the going rate is for alteration work but everything she did for me was right around $140, which I thought was a great deal! That being said, I didn't need any taking in or hemming, which I am sure wiould add up $$ quickly. I love Wong Long! I came to her as a referral from Belle Saison, where I purchased my wedding dress. When my dress came in prior to alterations I was panicked because the dress was way too tight. Wong Long was very re-assuring and did an excellent job with my alterations. My dress fits my like a glove now. She was very helpful in explaining bustle instructions to my mother and maid of honor. On top of providing doing a fantastic job with alterations, Wong Long was a joy to visit each time we went in. She is such a sweetheart and has a great sense of humor. Wong Long is absolutely incredible. Her prices were reasonable, she was incredibly sweet and her alterations were impeccable. Wong fit me in to her busy schedule to help me decide on a dress and discuss alterations. Wong made it very evident to me that she would not do alterations that were unnecessary to my dresses (wedding and reception dress), she was very professional and extremely trustworthy. The final wedding dress that I brought to her needed to be taken in which meant cutting through some very detailed beading and fabric folding. Wong had to hand sew all of the beading and lace back together, it looked perfect when she was done with it! I absolutely could not speak more highly of Wong and her dress alterations. This lady is a nutcase. I had my fitting and wanted to pay but she only took cash and I didn't have $500+ cash on me so I told her I will drop off a check the next day during my lunch. I came around 1pm and she screamed at me saying I was late. Caught me off guard as I didn't know what she meant. After asking more she explained, still screaming, that lunch is 12pm not 1pm. I clarified I said I would stop by during lunch, but never said 1. She wouldn't take my check n told me to take my dress elsewhere so I said ok. However, she wouldn't give me back my dress until she ripped out all the threads and needles she pinned from the fitting. She was so rough I was scared of ripping it. She was clearly doing it very aggressively so I asked her to stop. She refused to give me back my dress so I said ok, if you insist on removing it then let me record you so if you do rip it, I have proof. That why I can't blame you for tears you didn't rip either. She screamed some more. I was forced to call the police. They came and said she had to give me back my dress and that I had to right to record. At the end the cops and I stood outside chitchatting about other stuff and she came out screaming saying that they were taking my side. Geezus this lady was/is insane. Run!!!!!!! read more

My experience with Wong Long was UNPLEASANT and UNPROFESSIONAL to say the least. When I had my first fitting, she had said that the dress was long and would need to be shortened. After she had pinned up the bottom, I was not comfortable with what she was saying needed to be done. But she kept assuring me that she knew what she was doing. After I left her place, she runs her shop from a converted garage, I called her in a couple of hours to tell her not to do the alterations on the hem. I told her she can do the bustle. She informed me that she will not return any money paid. Her reasoning was that she had spent an hour and a half with me for the fitting. I called the bridal store and told them of what was going on and asked for their advice. I figured I was not the first person who had gone through this with her. She called me after the bridal store had spoken to her yelling and screaming on the phone and told me to pick up the dress. When I went to pick up the dress, the work was so poor that I was shocked. The hooks that she had put did not even match the dress and the bustle was not floor length. When I mentioned that to her, her response was "Don't have anyone walk too close to you". I just took the dress and walked away as I did not want to risk her doing further damage to the dress. I had to take the dress to another seamstress to fix the shoddy work she had done. All the money I had paid which was $275 is a complete loss as there was nothing salvageable. My word of advice is that, there are plenty of professional seamstresses in Austin, without risking your dress with someone who is so unprofessional and whose work is so poor. read more

Wong Long is a gem!! I was referred to her by my bridal shop (Belle Saison). She works out of her home, and it is a cozy space that makes you feel comfortable. She does not rush- she takes her time and handles your dress with care. My dress has lace on the train and needed to be hemmed, so she sewed the lace by hand and it looks excellent! You cannot even tell it has been modified in any way. The best part is that she is a treat to work with- such a charming personality, and she shares fun stories with you. It is clear that she is passionate about her job and befriends many of her clients. Not to mention her pricing is very fair. I can't say enough good things about my experience with Wong Long. My dress was tricky, and she spent hours making sure she got the length perfect. I was worried about pricing and she did a beautiful bustle for half price and adjusted the straps on my dress for free. Her hem work is BEAUTIFUL and my dress looks amazing now. Wong Long was better than I had ever imagined! She has a talent that is hard to find the words for. Amazing? Incredible? One of a kind? All apply and more. I have a very petite figure, which can get pretty annoying. It's hard to find clothes that actually fit and make you feel like an adult. This was very much the case when I was shopping for my wedding dress. I have had dresses altered by seamstresses in the past but never like my experience with Wong Long. She has a unique way of sewing the dress to fit you right on your body so there are not mistakes in sizing. I was in tears when I put the dress on because I have never had something fit me so well! She has techniques that I was so impressed by! She was able to bustle my dress in a nontraditional way and made it with 8 hooks so that it would flow well! She puts in so much time and hard work into these dresses and it definitely shows! She not only is an amazing seamstress but also good company! Unfortunately, my family is from out of town so I had to make the dress alteration trips solo. At first I was nervous because I didn't know what to expect. Wong instantly made me feel comfortable and befriended me! She helped me through many happy and hard moments. Such as celebrating when the dress fit so perfectly! Then realizing that the dress shop made a 5 inch mistake on the hem. 5 inches! Not only did Wong want to fix it, but she also helped in talking to the bridal shop to prove that there was a mistake. Wretched!! This was the worse experience I had ever had with a tailor. This woman first makes me stand for almost 1 hour and half and starts doing stitches on my dress... Fine if I have to do this, then I got to do this. I gave her the benefit of the doubt. I though to myself, this woman either doesn't do much of this for the amount of time she is taking, or maybe she is really going in detail here, which is an A+. After all the stitches are made, she hits me with the price (By the way, I have no idea that was the first fitting.)...OMG!! I didn't expect that, but I was running out of time and gave the ok. I couldn't sleep that night. I felt ripped off. I called the next day and canceled. Any smart human being should know that paying almost the cost of the dress for alterations feels like a robbery. I needed to think about this. I went back to try to negotiate a better price because this felt so wrong, but Mrs. Wong, had me in the verge of tiers when instead of talking things out like a "professional" she grabbed my dress and a cardboard knife and started undoing all the stitches on my dress. Yes a knife!! And here I am begging her not to touch my dress!! All the while she is complaining, yes! Complaining for the rational decision I had made of canceled what I immediately though the beginning of a wedding nightmare. On top of that, she had asked me for a deposit and refused to give me my money. She went on to say how a bad person I was for changing my mind. She asked for $60 dollars for the work, but then undid everything I was paying her for, and changed to say that I was actually paying for the ridiculous amount of time she spend on what became the first fitting. Oh and check this out! She refused to give me my dress unless I gave her the $60!! Talk about extorting someone. Fine, I can pay $60, but the principle behind how this woman runs her business is despicable!! She is not clear, refuses to give out receipts, and asks for cash payments! Hello?? Wong Long did a great job on fixing my wedding dress for me. My dress has a lot of lace and it takes a lot of skills to alter it so it can still look like it's original. But she did it! The dress looks perfect and I was so happy with it. However, I do think she charges a bit high so be aware if you are looking for someone to do just some simple alteration, you may want to go somewhere else because it may not worth the price. Wong Long is awesome! REALLY expensive, but still awesome. I needed a bridesmaids dress altered very quickly (5 days), and she got it done for me without ever mentioning a "rush" charge or anything like that. I had the straps shortened, the bust taken in on each side, and it was hemmed (2-layers). My total, with $5 off (probably because I had nearly passed out when she told me how much it was going to be) was around $130 including tax. I haven't had many alterations done in Austin, so maybe this price is more reasonable than I think, but it really startled me. However, the service was completely awesome and I would still highly recommend her to anyone I know. First of all, Wong herself is hilarious! She's super friendly and I think I hugged her at least 4 times over the 2 times I met her. She kept up the conversation and always seemed to have a funny anecdote no matter what we were talking about. During my first meeting she literally sewed me into my dress- she shortened the straps and sewed them quickly by hand so I could feel for myself, 100%, if they were right. She did the same hand-sewing for the bust and the hem. The bride was with me and really appreciated that, because she could pick out the exact length she wanted the dress to be. The whole fitting took an hour, but it was all because of her attention to detail. She didn't even hesitate when I told her on the phone I'd need the dress back in 5 days. Overall a wonderful experience, and since I am getting married next year I will most likely be bringing my wedding dress to her for the alterations and bustle (you can tell from all the pictures on the walls and in the albums on the counter, not to mention the other reviews, that this is her specialty and she is well-loved for it by her clients). read more
