I was absolutely desperate to find a company that could take the system down, after my current provider told me they would not be able to get to the job within three months! I am selling my house and a delay like that would have ruined any opportunity we had to sell, this year. In my desperation, I contacted several solar installers and the only one that responded was Solar Supply of Colorado. John Fischer contacted me immediately and offered to help after hearing the predicament I was in. He was extremely courteous, professional, knowledgeable and patient with me as I tried to juggle working with my current company, maintaining my warranty and trying to find a contingency plan. Ultimately, my current company was able to put in a special request and get my panels removed in my time frame. So, I ended up not needing the services of Solar Supply. But, they were beyond exceptional in their willingness to help me however they could. We purchased our system through them, and while the sales team was friendly, the system they sold us has never lived up to the performance expectations they set. It's important to note that Valor is not the actual solar provider--they hand off installation and support to a third-party company called 1Solar, which has been extremely difficult to work with. During the sales process, Valor assured us of specific energy savings and a guaranteed level of system performance, none of which have materialized. It's also important to call out that Valor did not disclose that the system's production was only guaranteed to achieve 85% of the original estimates. This should have been made clear from the beginning because it directly impacts the system's expected return on investment. We only became aware of this lower guarantee after problems emerged, but even with the reduced 85% threshold, our system has still failed to meet the guaranteed levels since installation. Despite more than a month of efforts to seek help, neither Valor nor 1Solar has provided any meaningful resolution. This experience has been incredibly time-consuming, frustrating, and ultimately very disappointing. We had hoped for a positive and lasting investment, but instead have been left with ongoing problems and little support.

These guys charge more than the competition and the quality of their workmanship is just awful. Pathetic! We hired these clowns to replace our crummy 100 amp panel with a 200A panel, and add two new circuits to our service, including a 240v circuit to the garage. Where they installed conduit, it looked great. But they didn't run the ground wires in any conduit and it looks like a kid did it. Other things: 1. They ran ground through the siding and into the crawlspace to the water line. They didn't caulk the hole they drilled into the siding. 2. They left trash all over my backyard. 3. They took one of my brand-new shovels. 4. An outlet inside my house stopped working after they left. 5. After Excel came out to inspect the finished job and said my new panel needed a slip joint where the line entered the concrete, American Electrician's owner initially refused to install the slip joint. He said Excel would allow a variance. Excel said bullshit, and only then did American Electrician agree to do it, or my power would be cut off. 6. Today, about 4 months after they finished their work, I went outside to flip one of the breakers so I could cut power to my dishwasher. One problem: the breaker labeled "dishwasher" cut the power to my son's bedroom upstairs. I started flipping breakers and found the one labeled "master bedroom/bathroom" cut power to my dishwasher. Within the booklet, there was a coupon for $50 off any electrical service and "Free Estimates!" Seemed like a good start, so I called Williams & Sons. Tim Williams (owner) is very friendly and generally is a good communicator. He was punctual during the initial assessment and his team was on time the following day to commence work. Tim's assessment determined that replacing two circuit breakers should do the trick. Tim assures me that these circuit breakers are $85/each and that it should be a quick and inexpensive job. Here is where things go wrong... 1. I call Tim after the two circuit breakers have been replaced, noting that there was no statement of work provided to me and I never received any type of $ estimate prior to work commencing. I shared my concern with Tim that I did not want to receive any kind of surprise invoice. He assured me it "wouldn't be that bad" and he was surprised that there was never an estimate provided to me. 2. Within the hour of my concerned phone call, he sends me an invoice for $650 for a job that could have taken his 2-person team about ~30 mins. Within this invoice, Tim tries to charge me $140 for his initial assessment (lasted 10 mins) and another $340 for labor which was never discussed or agreed-upon. 3. Thankfully, Tim was understanding in coming to a more reasonable price, and reduced the bill down to $350 after providing him the "free estimate" / $50 off coupon. 4. Fast forward 1 month. The problem persists and the replacement of the circuit breakers did not remedy the issue at all. I texted Tim to ask him if he could come by to re-assess the situation since the invoice clearly states that their work is covered by a "1 Year Guarantee." Tim ignores my first text. The next day I text him again to which his response is "Sorry, I don't have anyone who can help you. My team is spread too thin." Uh, what? So much for the guarantee? To me, this job felt like a quick grab and dash. $350 down the drain. Avoid.
