I waited a long time to write this review, to see if the sketchy, rude people at Zohreh Uomo would rectify what was certainly a horrific mistake on their part. They did not. The backstory: my fiance and I used to live in Manhattan but were getting married at the Natural History Museum and moving to Los Angeles this past June, so wanted to have pieces of our beloved city with us in our wedding & our new city. Ellen Couture on the UWS did my gown, and I couldn't have been happier - a fabulous review of her boutique awaits! The Mister decided to go with Zohreh based on the reviews here on Yelp, flew back *twice* for fittings, and when his custom tux wasn't ready the week before our wedding, being the sweetheart he is, he said OK well, just Fedex it to me in LA before I'll need to wear it next weekend. You'll have to read my husband's review for the actual story, because everyone hid this secret from the bride for fear I'd go batshit on our wedding day. Essentially, there were no tux pants in the box. There were no pants in the box. The jacket, shirt, suspenders, and 2 pocket squares were there, but no pants. After a lot of what my sister/MOH described as "pantsless pacing around the groomsmens' suite" - she was called in to brainstorm ideas and to keep the news from reaching me - the decision was made to wear his best man's tux pants, who (because the groom & groomsmen had to be at the venue much earlier for photos) wore their father's tux pants, who then had to make a MADDD dash to the nearest Macy's to buy off-the-rack tux pants for himself about an hour before the ceremony. It is a grave mistake to not place the ENTIRE custom tuxedo in the box for such a time-sensitive order, wouldn't you think? Ok, mistakes happen. I expected with a high end store like Zohreh, that they'd apologize profusely for this MAJOR slip up and whip up a new pair of tuxedo pants using his established measurements STAT (even though the wedding was over). Instead, they berated us over the phone for "not taking pictures on the day you found out". What were we supposed to take a picture of...? My husband wearing the full tux... without the pants?? That too - an hour before the ceremony?! When I personally spoke with Simone on the phone for the first time, I guess she knew what I was calling about because she wouldn't let me finish a sentence to introduce myself (customer service fail #1). She frantically questioned me over and over again about why the box wasn't opened prior to the day of our wedding (it had arrived just a day before, I tried to explain - to which she again frantically screamed over me, "any NORMAL person would open up the box to make sure everything was there BEFORE the day-of!"... Irrelevant...). In summary, she refused to comp the pants and called me a "liar" not once but Twice (customer service fail #2 through #500). My husband and I each work 80 hours a week. Why would we be using our precious time off to concoct what Simone thinks is an elaborate lie to obtain a SECOND pair of Custom tuxedo pants?? When I attempted to explain this concept to Simone, she scoffed and retorted "I dont care if you're a doctor. You could still be a liar for all I know. What kind of doctor are you anyway???" When I answered "....internal medicine...thank you.. for your interest.. in my profession...?", she hastily went back to scolding me for "not taking photos" earlier, "not calling on the day it happened" (he called the week following), and once again, for "making up [the] entire story". How would doing ANY of those things have changed the present problem that this poor man still has NO PANTS to a $1600 custom tuxedo? Besides, keep in mind, Zohreh also has no proof that the pants *were* sent. The mistake of not including the pants isn't really excusable. Failing to rectify the mistake (i.e., failing to send him the pants even after the wedding) is also not excusable. And yelling at me over the phone/calling me a liar is absolutely not excusable. They may make superb suits, but the way they treat clients is the worst I've ever seen. I beg of you, for your own good - do not give these sleezeballs your business. read more

Ever have one of those nightmares where you find yourself pantless at your own wedding? I'm Aditi A.'s hubby, and I lived this sad scenario out in the flesh. A custom tux was ordered, but pants were nowhere to be found on the big day. I'm willing to admit that mistakes happen (even absolutely huge screwups like this!), but the horrendous way this store handled the mess was truly the icing on an already terrible story. Treating me with the utmost suspicion (I couldn't call on the day I discovered the problem because Zohreh is closed on a Sunday, and it was an hour before the wedding - bigger problems!) is one thing, but then to berate my wife when she called to try and explain? I expected better, especially from a store touting itself as one serving an exclusive clientele. Stay away at all costs. read more

I have shopped at Zohreh many times and I've had a great experience every time. I don't recall meeting the owner, Sean, but I have met with and been helped by, at one time or another, every employee of his: the sales associates Goska, Jenny, Laura, and the tailor Marco. In fact, if the store is not too busy, two or even three of these associates can be assisting you at the very same time, which is a pampered feeling indeed. All of them are very knowledgeable; they are also cheerful and pleasant. Marco is the same and likewise excels at his work. The selection of clothes here is amazing: beautiful clothing, very reasonably priced (the price even includes routine tailoring). I counted seventeen reviews posted prior to mine, divided essentially into two camps: in one camp are thirteen 5 star reviews and one 4 star review (curiously enough, by a reviewer who has nothing but praise for Zohreh: why then not give 5 stars?), while in the other camp are four 1 star reviews (three if you consider that each of two spouses posted a review of the same incident). I don't say that I disbelieve the negative reviews; what I do say is that I find them difficult to reconcile with my own totally positive experiences. If all the eighteen reviews (mine included) are accurate, then if you come here you have at least a 77% chance of having a great experience (83% if you count the married couple as having shared one bad experience). Those are pretty good odds, so my recommendation is: go for it! read more

Found this place completely by accident as we were walking by. This is a completely curated men's boutique and bespoke tailor shop that is a completely anachronistic and wholly welcome place amidst the crap we get shoveled in our face from the likes of the Gap, Jcrew, and others of the ilk. The selection seems pretty heavy in certain brands, including Etro. And if you are an Etro aficionado then you know that the rest of the selection on offer will appeal to the GQ dandy. With that in mind not all the stuff here is my cup of tea, and it is not for everyone but this is the type of small local business that you feel good patronizing because they take good care of you and you get to know the proprietor on a first name basis. Chances are you will find something unique that is not really available at the usual department stores in the city. For good measure there is a bar in the back with a selection of spirits, adding to the gentleman's club-like feel (not THAT kind of club) along with a French bulldog named Bobby to hang out with as well. read more

This company has been making my Jean's for years. Once you put on a taylor fitted Jean with the material that they use, you will never put on a pair of store bought Jean's again. I had the absolute WORST experience here. I took a pair of new jeans here for a simple hem and they could not get it right. Not only were they cut too short after specifically requesting the inseam length, but the owner was cursing saying "this is bulls#it" and "f#ck" as he paced back and forth while I waited for them to fix the mistake. I was in the market for a new suit and really didn't like the fit anything of anything off the rack and decided to go with made-to-measure. A co-worker referred me to his tailor, Sean, at Zohreh. On the custom side, Zohreh offers both made-to-measure and bespoke suits. Timing precluded me from bespoke. Fabric selection is vast and there are some gorgeous options out there. I had a suit, vest, shirt and tie all custom done and each were executed perfectly. Sean was an excellent consultant all through the process and put a special touch on everything. Although I was there primarily for a suit, the shop offers a diverse and eclectic range of all mens clothing, accessory and shoe options. It's only a block or so out of the mid-town core and well worth the stroll. read more

My friend bought the groomsmen custom tuxedo shirts from Zohreh for his wedding. While getting measured for the shirt, Sean, the owner/tailor said he could sell me a tuxedo as well. The price was reasonable ($475 I believe), so I bought it reluctanctly if for nothing else to avoid a trip to Men's Wearhouse Two years later, I'm still cery happy with the buy. The tuxedo fits better than any suit I've purchased and the material still looks great. I ended up wearing the tuxedo to my own wedding just recently. read more

Sean, the owner who wears glasses and is bald, is the best! He only helps and certainly knows his stuff. He makes bespoke clothing for the Yankees and NE Patriots and can easily tailor clothing for normal size people. I have over a dozen shirts from him and each one is made well. Once he has your sizing, and you don't gain weight, you can easily buy many more and have the items arrive a few weeks later. There's also a large selection of ties/belts/cuff links/shoes/sweaters/socks/etc. don't forget the pool table while your in his store. Bespoke is the only way to go. read more

I came to Zohreh for a very simple jacket alteration, unaware of the high fashion nature of the establishment. They offer a wide variety of bespoke and to-fit mens formal wear. They also have a large selection of Italian menswear, many labels not usually seen in the states. While they do have excellent and reasonable tailoring services, don't be fooled, they offer so much more. They're no corner cleaners. read more

Best place to get a suit tailored...hands down! I brought in 3 suits that required small adjustments (I lost a couple inches at the waist), 2 brand new suits that needed a lot of work, and I also wanted to add brace buttons to a couple trousers. I was in the market for another suit but didn't want to pay more thn $400-500. I found a couple beautiful suits and settled on 1, with the help of the owner. Everything came out perfect and I couldn't be happier. Don't make the mistake of shopping at a large department store or getting any tailoring done at your local dry cleaners/ "tailor". I wish I found this place earlier because I had one of my favorite suits butchered by my dry cleaner place, who said they do many alterations. Don't try to save money when it comes to tailoring, it's not worth the head ache and stress. read more
