For almost $1900 in alterations, my dress was not steamed before any of the appointments. One of the stitches on my wedding dress that they said they reinforced came undone shortly before I walked down the aisle. Also, I mentioned multiple times during my appointments that I thought the dress been taken in too much and was too tight, which was pretty much disregarded and they told me that's how it was supposed to be. The day of my wedding I ended up having to change out of my dress by the end of the night because it was too uncomfortable. Additionally, the bustle ended up being way too long and was held up by only one button, not enough support for the heaviness of the dress and made dancing difficult. Overall, I wanted to love Alts but was very disappointed by the quality of the work. I would not recommend paying a premium here, and I think you can find better quality tailoring for a better price.

Pants were $40 to be hemmed (a little on the higher side, but they kept the original hem) and $80 for the dress to be hemmed. I will say I was a little disappointed bc the way the dress was at first tailored left the front puckered. When I said something, Julia was more than happy to fix it but I decided to seam rip the middle when I got home and because no matter what it didn't work with the pleats. I am just guessing but I think it was Julia's assistant who did the original hemming/ fixes. Some of it seemed a bit rushed (with threads from my Still Here jeans coming undone above the hem line)/ the original puckering of the dress/ V neck looked strange. Also, I wish the hem was a lettuce hem, like the original, and not a baby hem, but I'm uncertain if they have a serger. I've lost a significant amount of weight over the past 3 months & needed to have 3 2-piece suits taken in. He had me try on all 3 & was really thorough with the measurements (so I thought anyway). His initial estimate was $780.00, $740.00 if I paid cash. In my mind at the time I thought this was still pretty good considering 3 new 2-piece suits of the same brand would cost me around $1500. $1200.00 if they were on sale. He asked when I wanted them back. I left that up to him because I wanted him to not be rushed so he can do a thoroughy good job on them. He gave me a pick-up of about a week & a half. This is fine for me. I came to pick them up & I gave him my CC to swipe & charge. I somehow don't need to provide a pin or sign anything & he gives me a copy of the CC transaction receipt wrapped around my card & I didn't think anything of it. When I got home & dug into my wallet to unwrap the receipt from my card so I could put back my card where I always place it I see he charged me $813.00. This put things into a whole new perspective for me. Where did this extra $33.00 come from? Tailors in NYC don't charge sales tax. Then I actually did the math. That's an average of $271.00 a suit. Mind you he's not adding fabric to make it larger. If anything he's decreasing the amount to make it a smaller fit. This & also allowing a week & half's time. This wasn't like a 72 hour time limit. This was a full 10 days. Baffling. I'm now finding little attention to details he missed. One pairs of pants the waist is way tighter than the other two. Almost to the point of not fitting me. One of the jackets is clearly not taken in enough, dare I say, if at all. Another pair of pants a belt loop is half attached so it's just flip flopping around. I just wanted these suits to be taken in because I was tired of looking like MC Hammer at work & I wasn't really thinking how much it could cost. Now that I'm seeing things more clearly & with some of the imperfections I'm finding, I just think $271 for alterations on a 2-piece suit in 10 days time is exorbitantly high when I can just buy a brand new one at Macy's for $400 - $500. I get he's on the UES & he needs to make rent on his space, but....really?
