Our car was badly damaged in a recent hail storm in August. There were over 100 hail dents on it…read moreand some of them fairly deep, as we were driving it to get home and in the garage during the storm. Our insurance company (Farmers Insurance) worked directly with Carstar, which made the whole interaction very easy. They fixed every dent with Paintless Dent Repair (PDR) and did such a terrific job that it is impossible to tell that there was any damage on the car, or that any liners or panels were removed in the process. Not only was the repair job exceptional, but they washed the exterior and apparently detailed the interior during the service! Our car is the cleanest that it has been since we bought it new. The total repair (and detail) was complete in 3 business days. They started Monday morning and I got a call first thing Thursday morning that it was done... which was much faster than I had expected. J.K. dealt with us, and he was professional, straight shooting and a delight to do business with. I'm a perfectionist and hardly take my vehicles anywhere to have work on them other than tires.. but this repair was way out of my wheelhouse. I scrutinized the work done and was thrilled. It is very difficult to meet my perfectionist expectations. Carstar not only met them, but exceeded them! I would not hesitate to take my car back to them for any type of body work. While I was there, there was a car in their back lot that caught my attention... I asked J.K. if I could take a closer look. The car itself was nothing too special, but what I thought was a paint job was exceptional. J.K. quickly explained that it wasn't a paint job, but a wrap! I couldn't believe it! Even close up and touching it, I couldn't tell it was a wrap! It wasn't until J.K. opened a door to show where the wrap ended that it was evident that it was a wrap. I was astonished! I would highly recommend Carstar for any body work needs.

My insurance company said they were trustworthy and reliable so I trusted that opinion. The process of getting my vehicle fixed the first time went well. After getting my vehicle returned to me. I was hearing some noises from the area of the collision. So I returned my car to Gerber and I had to have a rental car again for two or three days. I didn't hear a single update in those few days until day three. And the only thing they told me in that update was that my car was at big O' tire. So they didn't even have my car the whole time and NEVER updated me or told me my car wasn't even at their shop anymore. And in that one and ONLY call update, they told me my insurance company wouldn't cover the $100 fee. Again, seeing as how this was my only update I got, I didn't even know what fee they were talking about so I inquired about the problem. And that's when I learned my car wasn't at their shop, that it was at Big O tire and that they would charge me a diagnosis fee. So as you can imagine, I am frustrated at this point. I was never told my Vehicle got moved without my permission, and then it got diagnosed with a fee attached without my permission. If I knew any of this, I would've said no and taken my car back day one. so when I go to pick up my car from Big O tire, I tell them the situation and that respectfully I am not paying a diagnosis fee when I didn't even know my car was here. And the gentleman at the desk told me that that is not what Gerber told them. so not only did Gerber move my car without my permission and get it diagnosed and then would have me pay a diagnosis fee, they LIED to big O tire about the situation and tried to make me look incompetent or disrespectful. I wish this was the end of it, but it's not. A few days later I get a call from enterprise car rental company, saying I'd be charged $25 or so for a day of rental use (insurance paid for the first day or 2). I asked why and long story short, Gerber logged me returning the rental back to them on a Thursday when I in fact, returned the car to them on a Wednesday. Bottom line is that Gerber is dishonest, disrespectful, disorganized, unprofessional, uncommunicative, and extremely un-thorough. I am genuinely confused as to why any insurance company would recommend Gerber and esteem them as a good and honest body shop. I suppose they're comparing them to how insurance companies are as well. lying, disrespectful, and just out to get your money.

Someone suggested Maaco to me, and reading reviews made me want to try the further location from me, in Layton...SOOO worth the hour drive!!!! *Jeremy (the shop owner) is above and beyond friendly, and transparent about cost and what was possible with my budget, he didn't try to push me for an upsell when I said I didn't care enough about having the best type of paint option, but he DID make me feel confident that even the cheaper option was still full of value. *I am THOROUGHLY impressed with the way they made the new paint look flawless over the previous damage and all the old chipping, I was worried that maybe for the price, it might come out looking like a DIY project where I'd be able to tell where the previous paint issues were, but it came out looking like a brand new sleek little car!! *Full transparency the price was a little more than what I was seeing on the internet when I initially googled "Maaco prices" and from the Maaco website quote estimator, but not by a ton, and it was still cheaper than ANY place I got a quote from, and a BEAUTIFUL job done as well.
