I felt the class was very disorganized. It's definitely not good for beginners. People weren't friendly and were very cliquish. It was very uncomfortable. The coach did not help with my form. The facilities could be cleaner. This place charges more than other more established gyms that have produced great fighters. Recently moved to the area and was looking for a Muay Thai gym as someone who had only trained briefly for a few months. Firstly, the website information and class structure/descriptions set expectations well and I signed up for a free "Technique and Conditioning" trial class to start which is recommended for beginners. When my partner and I attended we were very happy with the level of drills and conditioning and the overall friendly demeanor of folks at the gym. What I especially liked about this first session I took was that the drills were not only challenging but fun. The head instructor is very knowledgeable and sets classes up well depending on how new or experienced folks are to Muay Thai or how small/large the classes get. The versatility of his teaching and instruction is impressive and I always feel I come out of the class learning something new or to take away for the next training session. It's also great to know that the coach is a seasoned fighter, so he also has had consistent practical experience to support his instruction. I've continued to attend the gym and am looking forward to trying out their more advanced classes. read more

Best muay thai gym i've been to in NYC. Everyone's super nice, John's a welcoming dude, front desk worker is always very helpful and friendly (which honestly is a big deal) and every class is an awesome workout. Plus, you leave having learned something. They offer 730 am classes which are huge since it's often hard to get away from work. Lance recently took those classes over and he's been great. Would recommended if you're looking to get into the sport or find a good workout. read more

I walked in not knowing much about Muay Thai and this gym was perfect. Everybody was nice and the instructor, Johny Love, was amazing. I got one of the best workouts I've had in awhile. Just moved to the area and was looking for a new combat sport gym to join. Joined Zombie after the free trial. When you first arrive, the coach, John, asked about my experience and offered to give me a 5 mins private lesson (tip: show up early on your first session)! I love how many classes there are and the flexibility of the different offerings, per class, bundles, monthly, annually, and private lessons. I consider myself pretty active but not an experience fighter. I want to progress from a beginner to somewhat experienced, and I can see myself getting there at Zombie Muay Thai. 10 / 10 would recommend. Bonus point to train under an active Muay Thai fighter. read more

stellar gym with great facilities and even better instruction! john is a fantastic coach and takes a hands-on approach for all skill levels. i introduced my girlfriend to this gym as a total beginner, and she's made huge improvements over the span of a few months. she's also attended group classes which have a good mix of skill levels and other women for her to partner with. i've seen others in classes i attend make big improvements as well, which is a testament to the classes offered and attention provided. if you're a beginner or interested in advancing your striking skills, you won't find a better home! read more

He has a systematic training style that allowed me to improve significantly every session. sharing my expierence as a beginner. I took my first ever class at zombie muay thai. The front desk was super helpful in answer all my questions. i took the conditions and technique course which is recommended for begginers. John the owner/instructor dedicated time before to show me some of the basics. he gave clear instructions and demonstrations. the class had a variety of skills levels and john did a great job of helping me a beginner while still giving adequate attention to the more skilled members. overall i had a great experience and signed up for a membership. overall a great experience and looking forward to regularly working out there. read more

Great space, fun class. Though this is primarily a muay thai/kickboxing gym, I came here for one of their newly introduced submission grappling/no gi jiu-jitsu classes. The facility and the mats were clean. The staff and members were friendly, and Coach Seb's instruction is top-notch. I found the gym to be a very welcoming atmosphere for those who might be new to striking or grappling sports. I'll definitely be back. read more

I've been training here for about 6 months and love it! It's a fantastic workout for both your body and mind, you learn how to protect yourself when needed and it's also a wonderful community. Less than mediocre experience. The gym does not have locker rooms or showers. I consider any gym without these to be somewhat unhygienic. The class I took involved peoples hands touching each other's necks and arms and I think having a shower after sweating, let alone touching each other, is needed to prevent skin infections.  I'm told that the gym will have showers. It is currently under construction. There is a dog that is running around loose in the gym. It runs around the mat during class, which seems really dangerous and highly inadvisable considering the nature of the business. I don't know what it could be tracking around the mat. It barks and bites at clients. Definitely don't go here if you are allergic to dogs. It's a newer gym so there is not much of a family feeling. People generally keep to themselves. Maybe this is just the vibe. The staff is not unfriendly but could be more welcoming. The current clientele appears to be mostly male. There were no women in the class I took. I think this might matter to the females that may be interested in trying this gym out. I know that it can be intimidating to go to a brand new gym,  even as a guy.  So ladies,  be aware that you might be the only female in class. To the most important part of this review: The actual class I took was not enjoyable because it was not beginner friendly at all. The classes they offer are all levels, which suggest that they are appropriate for beginners too. Wrong. I took their padwork class. You need a partner for the whole class. The first part of class involved hitting pads. No detail was provided on how to throw any of the punches or anything.  And no detail was provided on how to hold the pads. Not only is this confusing for inexperienced students like myself,   but I consider this unsafe teaching and training practice.  How can I possibly safely throw punches and kicks when I haven't been taught how? How can I safely hold pads when I haven't been taught how? I think the risk for injury is high and would not recommend taking this class if you are a beginner. It is a new gym so seems maybe the instructors are new to teaching. The second part of the class involved clinching, which is a lot like head and arm wrestling with your partner? If you don't like people touching you and having someone grab at your head and neck and arms, do not take this class. I would not recommend this class if you are new to Muay Thai. There are other options of muay Thai gyms in the city.  Though this one is very conveniently located in union Square, I don't think it's worth it because the gym facilities is unfinished, the environment isn't very warm, and the instruction isn't good. read more

Zombie Muay Thai is a great new gym in the heart of lower Manhattan. At the intersection of Greenwich, Kips Bay and Gramercy ZMT is accessible by multiple train lines and the Citi bike station right outside also makes it easy to get there. The Owner John Pina is an amazing coach with many national titles and really knows his stuff. He has assembled a team of trainers and staff who are not only competent fighters, but are great instructors (there is a difference). The gym is clean, classes are frequent and easy to sign up for, and the people are friendly and easy to train alongside. Highly recommend ZMT! read more

All the staff are super polite and helpful, the gym is very conveniently located near Union Square and the membership pricing is very reasonable.
