The entire team is awesome but Ms.Deborah and Mr.Gibson are the ones I've dealt with directly, so I can say this with authenticity! I tried testing another program in Harlem (MMA Kids Fight back) and what a world of difference in how they treat people! I called MMA to see if they offer free trials to prospective students (my son is 5) and the person who picked up claiming to be the "Master" of the studio replied "that parents need to be committed and that he's been doing this for 30yrs, so is pretty sure he's good" My unspoken reaction was like "no way in hell my child is learning from someone so devoid of basic manners"! Ms.Deborah and Mr.Gibson were the complete opposite, even though they've got a lot to boast about. In any case, I made my decision based on the strong value alignment in addition to entrusting my child with a reputable institution. Ms. Deborah is such a humble, strong, kind, and lovely human being! The customer service desk at the West Harlem studio was packed when I came in yet she never lost her cool and took her time to explain everything to everyone with inquiries and treated everyone with respect and kindness. She's a rock star and I am so very proud to be associated with Pouncing Tigers. I can't recommend them enough!!!

A young gentleman and lady had a table set up with a spin wheel for some kind of deal for 2 weeks of free classes. My daughter has taken karate and liked it and saw how excited the other kids were when we got there about spinning the wheel. After the movie on our way out I inquired about how old the kids had to be to take a class (5). My daughter is 5 at the end of July, so not yet eligible. I asked if she could spin the wheel "just for fun" (she was begging to!) and the gentleman said "no. That's not how this works". Come on! This wheel is getting spun 10 times an hour and there was no one else even there talking to him! He then proceeded to try to give me a brochure...HA! Oook. I think Pouncing Tigers needs to look into their representative's kid-friendly approach. I was very turned off by this encounter.

I went on Wednesday night for a Pilates mat class. One thing to note is that all the Pilates classes are mat, they do not have machines at this studio. Wednesday night was one of the coldest nights in NYC so i think a lot of people ended up canceling the class, because it was only me and one other student. Trust me, if it wasn't for class passes strict cancellation policy i would have canceled too, bc I did not want to leave my home in that cold. But glad I went bc it was a good class, and all in all it is only a few blocks from my apartment. The instructor was nice, hands on. It was very relaxed since there were only two of us. She helped with form and also gave modifications if certain moves were too challenging which I appreciated. While it was only 2 of us in the class, I don't think many more could have fit since it was such a small studio. MAYBE 5 people max, but they would be very close together. One thing I did not like was that you had to pay to rent a yoga mat, which you need for the Pilates mat class. You can bring your own mat, or rent theirs for $3 either cash or venmo. I don't get why they do this, they have more than 5 mats, which is the max a class can hold, and all other studios provide you with mats. But whatever!! Overall good class in a cute neighborhood studio!

She knows how to push you without causing joint pain which is almost impossible to find in HIIT style workouts. Since the class size is smaller you get the 1:1 benefits of a personal trainer without losing the contagious energy of a group class. If you're an introvert like me, this is the best of both worlds. I've also been to a few yoga classes on the other side of the studio and they are excellent as well for low impact, stretch days.

These are not easy classes, but definitely will keep you in shape. In fact, if you can survive the first 10-15 minutes of jump rope the rest of the class (90 minutes total weekdays, 2 hours on weekends) will be a cakewalk by comparison. As long as you're giving your full effort, Nestor won't call you out for getting tired and struggling to get through half of the reps. The gym teaches both boxing and Muay Thai at various levels (schedule on the website), although any skill level is generally allowed to join any class given that you can keep up with the workout. Nestor has trained fighters in the past, but if you are a beginner looking to jump in for the first time, I cannot recommend this place enough. It will take a few classes to get into the swing of things, so don't give up after the first trial class!

I started going every Thursday leading up to my wedding, and it quickly became the best part of my week. It helped me release so much wedding planning stress in the most fun way. Her choreography is creative and perfectly synced to the music. The routines are challenging enough to make you sweat, but still easy to follow so you can truly enjoy yourself and let go. Most of the equipment is old, machines like the treadmills and stationary bikes don't fully work and neither does the TVs above them. The upside, it's local, affordable and never busy so you can be in and out. Getting pool time is hyper competitive and members squat on times and you need to sit on the app to get a time. What makes this place work is staff of terrific people that make the place run. Always friendly. Always helpful. They get more than five stars any day of the week.

I have noticed the workouts aren't as intense as they used to be, or I have just gotten used to them, but no matter what I leave feeling like I've gotten a good workout. The gym is small, but they have made fantastic use of the space and have all the equipment you need to run a HIIT class functionally. They also do personal training upstairs and all of the coaches are kind, knowledgeable and fun. They offer classes throughout the day so you can usually find one to work with your schedule. Scheduling can be done easily through the MindBody app. The gym runs promos so always check in to find a good deal!
