I came here on New Year's Eve for dinner before the celebration started. Restaurant was nice and clean and full parking. Welcomed in with a lovely staff with seated immediately... Because no one was in the restaurant besides the ones that work there. They were already playing over overhead music so I'll be waiting for the food to arrive. The food was awful. I ordered to go: jerk chicken, black beans, white rice, and plantains. Instead, I was given chicken swimming in the worse type of jerk sauce I have ever had. Instead of white rice and black beans, I had what I think was maybe fried rice mixed with maybe a teaspoon of green peas. I specifically ordered black beans, white rice an order of each. I ordered the nonalcoholic pina colada and it was blended to perfection. It reminded me of the icey man/woman with the carts in NYC, where your choices were rainbow, coco, mango, or cherry (iykyk). We want to bring my in laws here when they come to visit. This restaurant is unique because they specialize in dishes from different countries and places the flag of that country next to the menu item. 3.5 stars. I've never had Haitian food before and have wanted to try it for the longest. I opted for griot and pickliz and while I loved the flavors and idea, I think Zona's execution could use some refining. My main problem was that the griot was rock hard. I'm not sure if that's how it's supposed to be, but if so I'm not a fan. The pickliz was delicious, as was the rice (seriously the rice was amazing). The plantains were lacking flavor. I love this place because it makes me feel like I'm literally dining out of the country. It features different carribean favorites from all over. Like Jerk Chicken from Jamaica, They've got Haitian black rice, Dominican style oxtails, etc. On the menu there are actual little maps next to the food items. The service is nice, there is a little bit of a language barrier but the ladies are beautiful l. The ambience is normal in the day and like a club at night. Never in my life heard of Patron being the cheaper shot. Was overcharged an additional shot of 1800 that we had to go back in to get a refund for. My wife and I visited Zona for our date night on a Tuesday. I was intrigued by the menu, since it had several different cuisines from many Caribbean islands, from Jamaica, Haiti, Bahamas, & MANYYYYY more. The Parking: Free parking. Decent size lot. The Atmosphere: Zona is actually quite spacious. Due to COVID, all tables are separated with more than 6 ft. distance in between. There are also close to 3 or 4 booths to sit in, which look very "VIPish". It was chill vibes. They have great music playing while you feast. They also have several flat screens all over showing sports if there's a good game on. Zona has a stage as well, so I'm assuming they have live performances of some sort, but not sure how often due to Covid. Not only is there indoor seating, but outdoor as well. The Service: The service was Meh. Our waitress was VERY nice, but everything was so slow. Which made no sense, because it wasn't many people there. It took nearly 20 minutes for her to take our orders AFTER being seated. COVID: Hand sanitizer is provided at the entrance. All staff were wearing masks. The Food: Though everything looked good, I had to go with my heart and select the Jamaican Jerk Chicken, which came with rice & peas and plantains. Honestly, I've had better. The chicken tasted good, but it didn't taste like jerk, it tasted baked. It didn't even have a jerk flavor, but it was still good. I would've at least preferred some jerk sauce. It also wasn't spicy at all. The portion of chicken was rather small and per usual, overloaded with rice & peas. Shared Food: My wife and I shared the empeñadas & beef patties. DELICIOUS! This beef patty was probably the best beef patty I've ever had! I honestly wish I got more! VERRRRRY GOOD! The empañadas were also very good. Both came with different dipping sauces, but I like the beef patty for both the patty and the empeñadas. Overall, I'd like to come back and hope for a better experience. I'm giving Zona 3 stars for a one reason: The jerk chicken not tasting like jerk chicken & the super delayed service. Other than that, it wasn't that bad. read more

I got the fried snapped and it was SO good like truly one of the best snappers I've had. The jerk chicken is super good, very spicy and flavorful. The black rice is soft and yummy. The Pattie's are SO good. The chicken was my favorite. I'm not a fan of beef Pattie's but theirs was really good. It's so flaky and flavorful. Majority of the time I order it on Uber eats but I also went in person. There's a DJ and the music is very loud but it's a place you go to if you want that type of vibe and maybe if you want to dance. The service wasn't bad but the waitress was going to the opposite side of the kitchen to get water & I think it was a sink she was getting it from. That turned me off. Looking for somewhere for Valentines, I decided to take my lady here. I was looking for something different, something that had flavor and a different type of environment. To be honest, I saw a picture that said that Zona did Friday night jazz. I called them and asked if they did do jazz that Friday, and the response I got was that they did. Thus, we came here to enjoy the music and also eat some food. Keeping with Valentine tradition, we shared all of our food. We got a couple of appetizers and a main entrée. The empanadas and the sampler which came with variety of items from their appetizer menu. The empanadas were seasoned well and was bursting with the flavor. To be honest, the sauce itself is unnecessary as all the flavor was in the bites. Sadly, it's only one, but on the bright side it's pretty cheap ($2.50/each). Get 3 or 4 of these and you're pretty much full. The jerk chicken was great. It was on the spicier side, however I think the one thing that stood out on this dish was the rice. I mean, damn that rice was freaking flavorful. I hardly eat rice anymore (only at times when I give in) but this was hard to stop eating because of the flavor. Mix the rice in with the chicken and you have a bit of a spicy/flavor bomb going on in your mouth. The fried plantains were pretty normal, and a nice side along with the chicken. Lastly, the music. Remember I came here for jazz music right? What we got was a one man band, who sang and also disc jockeyed for himself? Yeah, it definitely wasn't jazz which was a little let down considering the person who I called said that there would be. I guess, there was a bit of confusion and language barrier there where she thought I was asking if there was just live music in general. The staff was great and friendly. We even got a rose and dipped chocolate strawberries (bit too sweet for my taste), which topped off a great evening/night. If they were to offer jazz music or something with a live band (and not a person who's playing songs off of a laptop), I would definitely come back. Even if there isn't, this place is a solid choice for eating Caribbean food. read more

So this establishment is actually pretty good. It's not overly priced, you can have some very reasonably priced items on the menu. They have some pretty good flavor to it as well. But that's what you would expect from a Caribbean spot. The drinks are good, not super strong, but not weak by any means either. I stuck with the jerk chicken. Because I feel like if I go to a Caribbean restaurant and then jerk chicken is bad, then everything else is not going to sit well with me either! But the jerk chicken was not super impactful when it came to spice but it had a good flavor to it. We came in and had about 30 people with us. And they were able to seat us in accommodate so that worked out really well and I appreciated that because it's hard to come in with that many people and expect somebody to see you and be prepared to take your order. Exceptional service and great food. Loved how the booths were spaced out (perfect for social distancing). Ordered the salmon over the zona salad and I got it blackened. The food was delish...drinks were okay a little sweet for my taste. Menu prices was reasonable and hookah was great and we enjoyed the mango and pineapple. Music and dancing was great. For some reason I thought this place was a West Indian spot, but it's definitely not. More latino, but the DJ tried to mix it up a bit and we enjoyed watching everyone dance. The space isn't large, but it was clean and really nice with tv's around to view the game as well. We will def be back! read more

This place has AMAZING food and I cannot express that enough. Let's start with the vibes. When we first walked in, it took them a while to seat us although the place was not packed, but we were so excited to try the food, that we really overlooked how long we waited for anyone to acknowledge us. When we were seated, our waitress attended to us and frankly, she wasn't the nicest. This was earlier in the pandemic when we were all being very cautious and she was not at all. Her mask was below her nose, she was touching our cups at the mouth, she would cough on the side and it was rather scary at that time to experience that. But AGAIN, we excused that because we had heard great things about the food and just wanted to get to that! We ordered the spring roll appetizer and they were amazing. For my entree, I ordered the oxtail with white rice and bean (I can't remember the Spanish term for it so please excuse what I wrote on the picture if it's wrong). It was amazing. I cannot emphasize enough how good it was. It was such a good time also because of another worker who came and spoke with us about his life and made it extremely personable. I really wish he was out waiter because our original waitress was just really passive throughout the entire night and we were extremely kind to her. Took my friend here for her birthday on a Friday at about 8:30pm. The place wasn't too packed and it had a nice little Spanish feel to it. We were greeted by a waitress who didn't speak much of any English. We weren't sure how the experience would go, but she was patient and pleasant and we did a lot of pointing. We started with drinks and appetizers. I ordered the mango margarita and it was delicious, she said she made it nice and strong! My calamari were ok. Then onto the main course which was the Churrasco with salad. This was seasoned well, cooked to perfection at medium and overall very flavorful. This was overall a great experience, we even got a piece of cake from a birthday party happening since we joined in on the singing. The portions were large and enough for leftover. The side order of fries is definitely a portion that can be shared between 2 people. The shrimp were jumbo and the batter was a great balance to the shrimp. It was light and fried nicely. The catfish nuggets were plentiful and various sizes. Inside is very clean and nice. I've tried the beef patties and jerk chicken spring rolls. Both were good but beef patties were amazing. Loved the sauce that came with it. I am giving three stars because it was very disappointing that the staff were not diligently wearing mask. The woman and man cooking in the kitchen had no mask or only had mask covering just the chin. The server at the bar also had mask covering just the chin. That's not good. Please take this seriously. The food and service here is great!! I'd been meaning to check this place out, was in the area had time this afternoon. Parking is easily available all around the parking lot, but be careful because some spots are designated by posted signs for certain businesses. When I came in, I was instantly greeted by the friendly employees. Seating is available at either the bar, tables, or booths. The interior was nice. There are a couple of TV's on the wall. There's also outdoor seating (which wasn't happening today, because it's December, lol). The food options at this Caribbean restaurant isn't specific for one country, but there are dishes available from various countries. The menu indicates the diversity of the meals, with pictures of that country's flag next to the dish. I was delighted to see Haiti represented on the menu, and ordered the Griot (yum!) and Pikliz entree, which includes griot, plantains, and black rice. The griot was so authentic, and the rice...OMG!!! This rice didn't need any of the sauce that came with the meal!! I was thoroughly pleased, and appreciated the good portions.
