My husband and I really enjoyed the vibes here. Growing up half African American and half Puerto Rican and my husband Honduran our taste buds was excited to try this place out one random Saturday afternoon. When you enter its looks like a spacious classy lounge with a fully stocked bar. The host and bartender was very welcoming. This particular day we were crazing Los Tre Golpes, which was a staple for us growing up. While it is not listed on the menu they do make it and with generous portions might I add. Their Zona Ceviche was so good all I need was some hot sauce to make it spicier. While waiting for our food togo, we both order drinks: My husband got the tropical mule which he described as refreshing and barely noticed the alcohol with the extra shot. I ordered the nonalcoholic pina colada and it was blended to perfection. It reminded me of the icey man/woman with the carts in NYC, where your choices were rainbow, coco, mango, or cherry (iykyk). We want to bring my in laws here when they come to visit. This restaurant is unique because they specialize in dishes from different countries and places the flag of that country next to the menu item. If you grew up with certain food staples this place is worth a shot. I cant wait to try their monfongo!

Went on a Saturday night with a friend of mine wasn't super crowded. My bartender was Pamela was very friendly and efficient. I had a chicken and shrimp empanada that was amazing!! The oxtail & rice and beans was delicious! Music was a tad loud but other than that everything was amazing. I also met the owner, I didn't get her name but go support this woman owned business.

3.5 stars. I've never had Haitian food before and have wanted to try it for the longest. I opted for griot and pickliz and while I loved the flavors and idea, I think Zona's execution could use some refining. My main problem was that the griot was rock hard. I'm not sure if that's how it's supposed to be, but if so I'm not a fan. The pickliz was delicious, as was the rice (seriously the rice was amazing). The plantains were lacking flavor. Overall I wasn't blown away but I'd certainly try this restaurant again.

I love this place because it makes me feel like I'm literally dining out of the country. It features different carribean favorites from all over. Like Jerk Chicken from Jamaica, They've got Haitian black rice, Dominican style oxtails, etc. On the menu there are actual little maps next to the food items. The service is nice, there is a little bit of a language barrier but the ladies are beautiful l. The ambience is normal in the day and like a club at night. But I guarantee you will be full and satisfied. I definitely recommend this spot

Not so happy with this spot today. First time visiting after lunch hours. Went to celebrate with my people and was charged $14 for a shot of 1800. Which we bought 6 of btw lol and $11 for Patron. Never in my life heard of Patron being the cheaper shot. Was overcharged an additional shot of 1800 that we had to go back in to get a refund for. Food is still top tier but I really didn't expect those prices for a shot. Got charged gratuity for a table of 3 when we barely got service. Not happy.

My wife and I visited Zona for our date night on a Tuesday. I was intrigued by the menu, since it had several different cuisines from many Caribbean islands, from Jamaica, Haiti, Bahamas, & MANYYYYY more. The Parking: Free parking. Decent size lot. The Atmosphere: Zona is actually quite spacious. Due to COVID, all tables are separated with more than 6 ft. distance in between. There are also close to 3 or 4 booths to sit in, which look very "VIPish". It was chill vibes. They have great music playing while you feast. They also have several flat screens all over showing sports if there's a good game on. Zona has a stage as well, so I'm assuming they have live performances of some sort, but not sure how often due to Covid. Not only is there indoor seating, but outdoor as well. The Service: The service was Meh. Our waitress was VERY nice, but everything was so slow. Which made no sense, because it wasn't many people there. It took nearly 20 minutes for her to take our orders AFTER being seated. COVID: Hand sanitizer is provided at the entrance. All staff were wearing masks. The Food: Though everything looked good, I had to go with my heart and select the Jamaican Jerk Chicken, which came with rice & peas and plantains. Honestly, I've had better. The chicken tasted good, but it didn't taste like jerk, it tasted baked. It didn't even have a jerk flavor, but it was still good. I would've at least preferred some jerk sauce. It also wasn't spicy at all. The portion of chicken was rather small and per usual, overloaded with rice & peas. Shared Food: My wife and I shared the empeñadas & beef patties. DELICIOUS! This beef patty was probably the best beef patty I've ever had! I honestly wish I got more! VERRRRRY GOOD! The empañadas were also very good. Both came with different dipping sauces, but I like the beef patty for both the patty and the empeñadas. Overall, I'd like to come back and hope for a better experience. I'm giving Zona 3 stars for a one reason: The jerk chicken not tasting like jerk chicken & the super delayed service. Other than that, it wasn't that bad.

The food is amazing and the servers are so sweet & kind, can't wait to come again. The atmosphere is very welcoming.

Spice It Up does not play! Everything I ordered was so good…read more The Oxtail Dinner and Curry Goat are my favorites. If you've tried different West Indian/Caribbean restaurants, you know that both of those dishes can go very wrong if they don't know what they're doing. The serving of oxtail wasn't stingy at all and they gave plenty of gravy. The Curry Goat plate was great. I usually eat curry with white rice, but this time I got it with rice and peas. Very glad I did, because it went together perfectly. Their Mac and cheese is good - not the best I've had but a solid side. The plantain was fried perfectly too. Spice It Up is a great option if you're looking for a Caribbean food fix and you can't get homemade.

The plantains while flavorful are precooked and sitting in a chafing dish like everything else so they get a tad slimy. The PORTION SIZE!!! I actually should've written the review in capital letters and the portion size comment in lower case because you aren't getting much for what you're spending. $27 for what I got was crazy: Three TINY pieces of chicken, a forkful of cabbage and a spoonful of rice and peas in a snack container, was downright criminal. The Yelp prices prices are absolutely INCORRECT, by about $10. Unfortunately I'm gonna have to drive all the way to Jamaica Mi Krazy by the stadium to get a real serving of food. I'd rather spend it in gas than give it away. Also the lady wasn't terrible in terms of attitude but she seemed annoyed that I didn't tip her. But like $27? I mean you got your tip honey. And I ALWAYS tip, but this was egregiously overpriced. For the aforementioned reasons I will not return unless I can catch the lunch special before 3. That would be the only time it would even remotely make sense. But also I could take the hike over to the stadium and get way more food for the same price at lunch too.

I remembered that one of my cousins had brought me here before for food, so I was expecting a decent experience. Unfortunately, today's visit was absolutely disappointing. I placed an order for oxtails, but they were out of mac & cheese, collard greens, and cabbage. The employee also mentioned they only had one dumpling left. What I don't understand is how a restaurant can be out of multiple sides that are supposed to come with the meal, yet still charge full price. The meal alone was $35. My son wanted additional items, so I still ordered food for him, but because the side options were so limited, I decided not to order anything for myself. In total, I ended up spending around $45, and the whole experience was just very disappointing. I really could've just bought the ingredients and made the meal myself, but I've been busy working in the house and handling a few projects, and before I realized it, the day had already gotten late. That's the main reason I decided to stop and buy food instead. Honestly, I guarantee I wouldn't have spent nearly as much making the meal myself as I ended up spending purchasing it there. To make matters worse, the employee serving us came across very nonchalant and unconcerned, which only added to the frustration. Overall, this is not a place I see myself visiting again anytime soon, if ever.

Plenty of parking in the strip mall and the restaurant is clean with 6 tables to dine in and eat from your to go containers. Seemed to be short staffed as we waited over 5 minutes for the cashier to finish plating up food orders and then take our order. Hubby was quite hungry by 2pm so we opted for a tasteless undercooked barely any filly veggie empanada type item from the heated prepared food box. We love jack fruit and this was the main reason for our visit. However, the curry and the jerk jackfruit were both rather tasteless. Portions are hefty and rice with pigeon peas plus overcooked cabbage are included. The few plaintains included were tasty. Food took over 20 minutes to show up for us- overall it was a long wait for meh food.
