Filled with mostly backyard animals that I could see at home. NOT WORTH THE MONEY! They really have pigeons, raccoons, ducks, and ravens in a zoo!

Extremely expensive for a one-time visit. I get the feeling this place is not for "tourists", more for the local families. We were in the West Island visiting relatives and we needed a place to take the kids nearby. 2 adults & one 4 yo & one 3 yo cost us $47! And no they don't offer family rate! I get they want you to buy the membership to support the local species, but at this rate we'd rather visit the Biodome downtown for grander variety and scale. Almost everything is outdoors, only the reptiles and fish are downstairs in the basement. However there was no elevator to get to the reptiles and fish except by stairs. So there we were with our big tandem double stroller (we still have a 2 yo & a 4 mo baby) awkwardly bumping our way down and dragging it up afterwards. The outdoor exhibits were well organized, but the paths were either covered with snow or slush or mud because it's winter. Only the boardwalks were shoveled. Again, not the most stroller friendly design. It was about +2C the day we visited, but I can't imagine what it'd be like in colder days. To be honest I was surprised they were open at all because it's winter. And quite a few animals were not present due to the winter season which made the ticket price seemed even steeper. I don't think we will return next time we are in town.

Zoo Ecomuseum is found on the outskirts of Montreal near the western tip of the island (St-Anne De Bellevue). It's a small zoo but not as you'd normally expect one to be. Basically the animals found here were rescued elsewhere due to a variety of reasons but most cannot be released due to injuries or inability to live in the wild. This is why one must temper their expectations to what they expect to see here.... this zoo's mission is centered on conservation and the size it pretty small.... you can be in and out in 45 minutes.... or longer if you have kids willing to check out exhibitions over and over again. This isn't Parc Safari! I paid $12.50 for my ticket and it's free for 2 year olds or younger. Prices are fair. There's several exhibitions inside the building you pay in before you head into the zoo. There's a number of aquariums with a variety of animals you can view but it's not something that you wouldn't see elsewhere however. Snapping turtle is HUGE though. You'll have to also realize that most of these animals are usually sleeping and may not present/active when you get there. Also, in the winter months they hibernate, so you know they're there but they're in lala land until they seem fit. :) The zoo had the most beautiful snow owl (harfang des neiges). He was looking at people barely feet from the gate, it was really impressive. I equally enjoyed the wolves, they were playing and were very active. The zoo has a lot of open space and a lot of exhibits in transition. Overall, my friends were very impressed on the new changes there were since the last time they came here 2 years ago. I wouldn't know but it's nice to know the zoo isn't stagnant and caters to the animals they receive. Overall, a nice experience. I'd be back in the summer as I'm sure the experience would be somewhat different from the winter one... my daughter loved it but she's 2, she's impressed by ants. :) Just make sure to temper your expectations and you'll have a nice time.

The animals include rabbits, ducks, chickens, goats, alpacas, a small cow and even some wild pigs. They also have a friendly dog named Ava that greets you as you walk in the farm. Tickets are $14 per person and free for children 2 and younger. Totally worthwhile, as it's a pretty immersive experience and you're surrounded by tons of animals. The animals are friendly and not aggressive. The staff was also friendly and helpful. I would definitely wear some boots to the farm (especially if it's rained recently) and follow the directions on their website to find the farm.

Right when you walk onto the farm you're greeted by their gorgeous friendly dog Ava surrounded by a pond filled with chirpy ducks. You'll probably feel right at home here, as I did. For a reasonable fee, you can have a guided tour of the rabbits, goats, alpacas, and a free running miniature cow and miniature horses! Yes you can feed them! Some tips: 1) you must chop the food into bite sizes for the alpacas! 2) No cucumbers 3) No loose plastic bags. So, it's best to bring your food ready to feed the animals in a bag. Make sure you watch small children as the goats can be energetic when eating. Yes, you're in the enclosure with them right in the middle of the action! They also offer volunteer opportunities to the public a few times a year. I didn't find it too muddy but wear outdoor shoes just in case. Bring some hand wipes as I'm not sure if there's a hand washing station.

With only about 50 people in line, I had the space to move freely, look up into the treetops, and peer down into rivers and tanks without feeling rushed. It felt immersive from the start. What makes this place special is how alive it feels. No cages, no bars, just ecosystems. Birds glide overhead, and wildlife lives within carefully designed natural habitats that feel both safe and intimate. Close enough to connect, far enough to respect the wild. Accessibility was thoughtful too, with both stairs and a smooth walkway option. Getting there early made all the difference. By my second loop, the school groups had arrived and the energy shifted from calm exploration to lively chaos. The Biodome itself is massive, divided into five distinct ecosystems. One moment you're wrapped in tropical warmth, the next you're stepping into a colder, northern world. It's like walking through climates instead of hallways. Location is another win. It's right outside Viau Station, making it incredibly easy to reach. Plus, it sits alongside the Montreal Olympic Tower and the Montreal Planetarium, turning the area into a full-day adventure playground. The staff were welcoming and bilingual in French and English, adding to an already smooth experience. #tysadventures26 #SpringBreak26 #Biodome
