For context, I have been with this practice for 15 years and last Friday, they acted like they had…read moreno idea who I was, which was really odd as I am there monthly to get my other cat a over $100 arthritis shot. Not only was my older cat misdiagnosed (after bloodwork and xrays and idk what, I got a nearly $900 bill) and I was told that my cat seemed to have a mass and that if it was a mass it was probably cancer. I was advised to have an ultrasound and had to wait a week to find out if the cat would die. At the appointed time I presented, and there was a weird vibe in there as there was some sort of emergency. They should have just cancelled appts. I was told I would have to wait aobut 30 minutes. No big deal. I understood there was an animal back there who needed their help. So I wait in the cat section which is kind of a joke as the cat and dog area are separated by a half wall. There were two dogs that were completely out of control, barking and growling with owners not making the least effort to calm them or take them outside so my cat didn't have to be even more stressed. I couldn't put my little guy, who I thought was dying, through 30 minutes of that he was cowering and shaking and was already stressed. So I waited outside where they had benches for that purpose and it was a gorgeous day. The first dog was taken into a room so I went back inside. Next dog comes in and he is even worse and owner could not have been less engaged and on her phone. No attempt to comfort or help her stressed animal. Now if your kid was having a tantrum, you'd take them away from people and help the calm down. So as I exited, I said to her in a low, calm voice "you really should be the one going outside. Not me." I reach the 2nd door of the vestibule and this woman runs out and starts SCREAMING at me. She was on my heels. I turned around and she was inches from my face pointing her findger in my face. Told her to get that finger out of my face and back off. She then bent over to put her face near the carrier and scream "I hope you die." That pushed me over the edge and I did call her a pejorative term. She began screeming "hit me! hit me!" Despite wanting to, I did not because I am an adult. Then two receptionists came out and yelled at me! Saying I should have just kept walking out. So I walked out and waited on the bench. She spoke with the woman inside for a few minutes and then she left with her dog. I was taken to a room with my cat. I was shaking and discussed what had happened with that woman with the tech who was very kind. She said the ultrasound would take 90 minutes and they were dealing with an emergency, so he probably would not be done until 3. I hated leaving him there but went to run some errands (only noon and I live 25 minutes away.) Not 5 minutes later I was called and told that I had not signed the consent form. I replied I had not been asked to and gave verbal consent over the phone. I will acknowledge that I was edgy when she told me I was consenting to hospitalization which has a fee. I replied that he was waiting as they were behind and that it felt like I was being robbed blind having spent $900 there the week before. An hour later I received a call from the reception supervisor that I was being released from the practice due to the altercation with another customer. I was astounded. I attempted to explain that I was accosted. I was told it was not my place to say anything. Then she said i was also rude to the person who called me and I never gave consent. I asked if I could speak to one of the doctors who owned the clinica and she said no. Then she told me they would not treat my cat as a result and that I should come get him. I was flabbergasted. I returned to get my cat and spoke to the supervisor who I had never seen before and would not let me speak to anyone else. I was not yelling. I was actually crying and begging her to let my cat have the ultrasound and not take it out on a animal. Nope. I was handed a list of 4 practice that did the ultrasound and was sent with my cat on my way. They have signs all over the place saying if you use abusive language, inappropriately touch staff or make sexual comments you would be removed from the practice. I didn't do any of those things. I saw one of the doctors in the lot and tried to talk to him. JHe had taken care of my cat for year. He would not even look at me and said he would have to find out what was going on later when he was out of surgery, I found Capital District Veternarian Referal Hosptial in Latham. They were great. The vet said there was no mass and she believed that it was a layer of fat pressing on a large ligament. She also diagnosed him with stage 2 kidney disease, which the inexperienced vet said was early kidney disease. Somehow he just developed it over night as he was there and got blood work twice in the the previous month. So he was misdiagnosed and I and my family spent a week mouring that our cat was dying.

When it's time for pickup, a friendly call informs you that your dog is ready, returned to you gleaming and gorgeous, accompanied by a debriefing of any concerns. They are my first-line defenders when it comes to Saydee's overall health, including her body, teeth, fur, and ears. Appointments can be challenging to secure because they are that good, which is why I book mine for the entire year. Monthly visits work best for me, and I gladly drive 35-45 minutes each way because I wouldn't trust anyone else with this task. A word of caution regarding any unfavorable reviews: They are poppycock. Professionalism isn't always warm and fuzzy and f you would rather hear flattering words while dealing with sloppy grooming, tardiness, and inconsistency, go somewhere else. It's absolutely heartbreaking and frustrating to know that a veterinary office, where compassion and urgency should come first, refused to even evaluate a bleeding dog simply because of scheduling convenience. There was no effort to triage, no concern, no basic decency to at least check if she was in critical condition. If this is how they treat established patients in distress, I can only imagine what kind of care (or lack thereof) others might receive. Do better, River Road Animal Hospital -- pets deserve compassion, not cold policy.

I understand everything is going up, but this was sticker shock. Bulk was $1.99 for the longest time so when it went up to $2.49 in one jump I thought it was steep but I understood. Then, only a few weeks later it went up to $2.99 (or 2.89?)!! That hurt. So now I will be going back to Wild Birds Unlimited because they are actually competitive since this price increases after your 15% bird food discount (with their membership) and $10 off for every 200 you spend, the math speaks. There are still a couple of items that I will buy here but they just priced themselves out of my major bird food spending. Agway also went up but their sunflower chips and seed are still reasonably priced. No store loyalty incentive except for a specific manufacturer which doesn't apply to most of my purchases. Hopefully something will change and I'll return to doing the bulk of my bird food shopping there.

Nice and positive people. I drop her there, they explain everything, prices was fair to me And the more important thing the my girl will be treated right and well. I m very happy with the service!!! Happened the i couldn't picked her at the time and she stay for another two months. I was ansious and nervous because she is and old dog. But the nice lady and the staff always give me updates with her. They response everytime i wrote them. Finally i pick up my baby girl, she was clean, healthy and happy. We had boarded our dog a few times at another kennel in the area, but they were fully booked up. The woman we met here was pleasant, but there was another employee, a young man, who gave the impression that he wasn't particular thrilled to be caring for dogs for that weekend and would rather be doing other things. So the drop off went okay, but when we picked up our dog we noticed that he smelled awful. It smelled like he had been sitting in poop and his bed was also dirty. My boyfriend and I work a 9-5 job, and our dog is able to hold his business during the day. So based on his condition when we picked him up, we assume he must not have been walked enough or given enough time away from his kennel.He's an 80lb dog who is very friendly. It took two baths to remove the smell and we placed his bed in the laundry as well. When you have to drop your dog off to be in somebody else's care temporarily, you already feel bad about it and worry that he's not being taken out enough. I wouldn't go here again.
