I've been taking my hyperactive two year old border collie to Zoom Room for private agility training for about six months. He doesn't do well in group classes because he is WAY to easily distracted, so I was really happy to find a place we could train with an instructor one on one. The experience has been fantastic. Cheryl has been great helping me adapt to my dog's unique learning style. I love the flexibility to schedule sessions on the web site so we can fit training into our schedule. The option to book the private gym is also really great so we can practice on the equipment. Having Zoom Room nearby is a fantastic resource. read more

This is the best and most effective dog draining place we've been able to find. Our dog Riley (Black Lab Retriever) was and still is very energetic specially when meeting new people. Cheryl and her team have been amazing on teaching us the best ways to make our little guy succeed. Zoom room is a fantastic place to train your dog both phisically as well as mentally which has proven to be super great for our pup. There was a time where I thought out dog was going to forever be a Bull in a China shop but The Zoom Room team have tremendously helped us turn him into a well behaved (still energetic) loving ball of fur. One other thing that they do is they prepare your dogs for the Canine Good Citizen test which is the first step to allow your dog to become a therapy dog or a service animal. If I could give them 6 starts I would but I guess 5 starts will have to do. read more

I came here a while back with my dog because I purchase a groupon. Thought it would be nice to take her close by for doggy play time. While I thought the facility was a nice small one, I certainly didn't feel comfortable coming here. I felt like everyday I came I was told there's a deal for some product they have in their store. I didn't like the feeling of being pressured to by things every time I come. If it was a dog training facility, I would have preferred being sold on the teaching. The evaluation that was part of the groupon was really a gimmick to getting people to feel like they paid for a useful evaluation. If anything the evaluation should be free because it would allow you to decide whether it was a good fit. I sent my dog to ahimsa three 6 session courses and somehow my dog still only qualified for obedience one course. I sort of just forced my dog into an agility class and truth be told she did fine and equally as well as some of the other dogs in the class she was taking it with. After I finished the groupon, decided not to come back anymore. Still going to ahimsa for her playtime. read more

We started bringing our lil pup here a few months ago. We initially picked Zoom Room based upon their proximity to our house and their flexible schedule. This is my first dog and my husbands first puppy. After doing extensive training research, we thought we could do it on our own. Our plan was to get him in for a few puppy classes, mostly for socialization. Since day one, we have really enjoyed our experience! Not only does our pup love all the trainers, but so do we! We've all learned a lot! We're now on our second bundle of 10 classes and really don't plan on stopping. Even though all of the trainers teach the same curriculum, they all bring their own individual approach, which has been very helpful. They've been very patient with our little ball of energy and love answering all of our questions. They've been a great help and would highly recommend them! read more

They just lost a customer here. My dog went through Ahimsa training and all of their play groups including being invited back to teen play but Zoom Room wouldn't let us attend a play group without first attending an obedience class with them. While I understand the dogs need to be evaluated to make sure they play safe with the other dogs if you have already done that at a different reputable business you shouldn't have to go through an obedience class there as well. I wanted to respond to the business owners comment below as it didn't address the issue at all. When I called to inquire about play times I told the woman I would be happy to provide his certificates from Ahimsa proving that he successfully completed several levels there. I also told her I would be happy to have the instructor that worked with us and our dog call and provide a reference for his play style. While I understand the need to ensure that dogs know safe play habits before they can join a play group we were happy to provide them as we had already went through this entire process elsewhere and were happy to provide all necessary proof. If that still isn't enough than you should offer your evaluation for free instead of asking for prospective clients to pay for something additional they have already completed and are willing to provide proof of. Your response made it seem as if we were just asking you to take our word for it which was not at all the case. read more

This is a long review, but I have so many nice things to say about this place! Cheryl, Olivia, and Becky are amazing! I definitely recommend it to anyone in need of help (or even just a fun day with their dog!). A little under four months ago, my husband and I saw a little terrier mix on a rescue's website. It was one of those moments where we fell in love instantly (he has a quirky little smile). We took him home, named him Oliver (Ollie for short). He was already housebroken, well-behaved, and he got along great with our other dog, Lucy (chihuahua mix). Only there was a problem: he was a disaster outside. He barked and lunged at people, other dogs, children, strollers, cars, bikes, skateboarders, birds, squirrels...you name it. If it moved, Ollie felt compelled to chase it. It was embarrassing and frightening. The Zoom Room was down the street, so we set up an appointment for a consultation. We'd only had him for a week, but we were hopelessly in love with him and stressed by the thought that we were in over our heads. Within moments of arriving, Cheryl told us that Ollie was fine, just leash reactive. We didn't even believe it at first, but they set up an appointment for Obedience One anyway. It has definitely been an uphill battle. We were in Obedience Two for more than two months, but we can happily say that he's graduated that and on to Obedience Three. Now, Ollie is only reactive to the tough stuff (loud skateboarders, squirrels, and other barking dogs), and he is getting better every day. We can walk him without feeling stressed. We even took him to an outdoor ice cream shop today, and he just sat on the ground and watched the world around him! Such an improvement. So there's even more to this review: After being so pleased with Ollie, we decided to sign Lucy up for the Shy Dog Workshop. We didn't see an enormous improvement like we did with our other dog, but WE learned a lot. I would say that's the best part of the class. They teach you about dog body language and why certain things are triggers for dogs. We can now help Lucy approach new situations in a way that will set her up for success. Plus, she was taking treats out of strangers' hands and showing off all her tricks in class (which is something she would have NEVER done before), so the fact that she felt comfortable towards the end makes it worth the money. read more

It's a very clean place with lots of room for our dog to run around and agility has been fun. We originally tried it out with a Groupon deal and ended up signing up for even more classes. First time there for Agility classes with Mo and we loved it! It's spacious and comfortable, warm and welcoming. My puppy never hesitated to go in or felt overwhelmed at all. Staff is polite, knowledgable and friendly. Mo is still passed out from his first class but I look forward to his next class and learned a lot as well. My dog Izzy and I absolutely LOVE coming to the Zoom Room. She is not a great dog for dog parks as she is picky about what other dogs she gets along with, so I love having a clean, safe place for her to get both a mental and physical workout. The staff is very knowledgable and they respect your pet's limits. Cheryl (the owner) encourages positive experiences for both owner and dog, and she has a great selection of treats, toys and swag in her shop as well. Izzy and I look forward to our visits every week! I am so glad that I decided to pop in one day, it's been a great experience top to bottom. I also appreciate that Zoom Room supports local rescue efforts and helps local groups highlight a pup in need of a loving forever home. Zoom Room is great for some things. We love the agility classes there (for puppy and adult dogs), and for that alone would probably rate them 5 stars. The staff is patient and understanding and genuinely cares about helping our pooches to learn the ropes We have not tried the obedience classes, but we had a bad experience in puppy play the second time we tried it (a one-star rating, for sure!) The first time we went there, my puppy mostly watched the other dogs - she was a bit intimidated but she often takes a while to warm up to a new dog. So, I tried a second class. One of the other puppies there (it had been at the first class as well, but didn't interact with my 4-month-old puppy) just snapped and snapped at my poor pup, while she tried to hide between my legs and yelped in frustration. When I mentioned it to a staffer, she said since my puppy was being submissive, it was making the aggressive one more aggressive. I didn't think this was a good experience for my poor girl, so I said I thought we should leave, and the staffer agreed. (I should mention, my pup has been to puppy play class at another facility several times and always had a good experience.) The experience probably bothered me more than it did my pup (she was fine the next day) but I kept thinking about it all night long. So, basically, I've decided that puppy play at Zoom Room is like a dog park for puppies. You'll get all kinds, and if your puppy is a bit shy or submissive this would probably not be a good environment for them. On the other hand, if you have a bold, rambunctious puppy, this would probably be just fine. read more

I am very impressed with the trainers at Zoom Room. They are so knowledgeable and in addition to the required training skills we also take time in class to talk about anything that is going well or is a struggle, which is a huge learning opportunity. They are positive reinforcement trainers, which is so important to me. I don't want to scare my puppy into submission. I also appreciate that you can sign up for each week individually. Cheryl and her team really understand dogs, reading their body language and using positive training methods that really work. They are even better at training us humans to be consistent and communicate with our dogs in a way they can understand. My dog Max was trained primarily off of YouTube for his first year of life due to our remote location, but upon moving to Seattle I was eager to find him a place to train with lots of doggie distractions, and Zoom Room was the perfect fit. This was our first experience with formal training classes and I think we really lucked out. We have now gone through Obedience 1 & 2 and Agility 1, and working on his Canine Good Citizen. Each session is filled with lots of practice for the dogs at a relatively fast pace, not just teaching the theory, which I love. We have since moved so we are further away but will continue to go to Zoom Room for training, as I don't think we'll find better in the Seattle area. read more

My dog has been going through the Obedience 2 classes. Well what a difference it is making. Even though I have had her for about 5 years I am still learning some really good ways to improve our relationship ..or in other words create a much better managed situation when out and about. I find that the classes are very real life oriented and it seems the no matter what level of behavior training one is at with ones dog Cheryl is able to create a great environment for learning. Cheryl is great and super encouraging and patient. It's a bit pricey but I think it is worth it and fairly comparable in comparison with other faculties. Zoom Room is awesome ! The large place is super clean, great floor with traction so your dog doesn't slide, water bowls available at both ends of the arena, 2 exits in case your dog is reactive or scared of other dogs, and most importantly an amazing, caring staff. I first came with my rescue, Paris who was afraid of everything, dogs, people, noises etc. If someone came near her she would back away & then bark. Cheryl suggested private training since she wouldn't do well in a class with other dogs. I agreed. In the very first class, through Cheryl's calm reassuring manner she had Paris coming super close to retrieve treats that she tossed on the floor. Each time she tossed it closer & closer to her foot. In the 2nd class she had Paris taking treats out of her hand! I was amazed. All the while Cheryl gave techniques on how to interact with Paris such as always standing sideways and not looking directly at Paris and staying still so Paris could come up to you at her own pace. When I saw an email about a shy dog class I wanted to register Paris. Cheryl said she didn't think Paris was ready. Imagine a business turning down money! Cheryl always puts the dog first and only wants what is best for your dog. Since I refuse to take to Paris to a dog park & we live in a small 1 bedroom apartment I felt she needed to be able to run around off leash so I next enrolled Paris in private agility. OMG the best thing I ever did. From the very first class Paris had the best time running up the A frame, along the dog walk, jumping over the hurdles and through the ring. I had never seen such a high rapid wagging tail and huge smile on my dogs face. She had the best time here. When Shy dog started again, Cheryl said she thought Paris would was ready to take the class. I just had my 1st shy dog class. Since it was the first class, we started with basic information & commands with lots of positive reinforcements with treats. Did I mention how they only believe in POSITIVE reinforcement? So important to me. I loved how we were all in a circle with our dogs. They had beds there for each dog .Not all dogs chose to lie on their beds and that was perfectly OK. Paris seemed very at ease at comfortable even though there were dogs all around. We are anxious to attend our second class. Advanced Obedience with a 20 month old husky can be challenging but Cheryl has a real gift of making the classes fun, different and engaging which is a perfect solution for my smart but "needing to be convinced to do as I ask" little Kaya :-) She gained her CGC certification thanks to Cheryl at just under 22 months after a series of classes and we have both benefited from lots of new ideas and suggestions. Much experience is combined with a very organised approach. The classes move fast, include learning many many skills over and above the CGC requirements and are all wrapped up in fun games, interaction and a great atmosphere. So this is kind of an odd review, but I think it's important for people to know. This review speaks to the phenomenal customer service at Zoom Room. We had extenuating circumstances and were unable to continue our puppy classes. Cheryl genuinely cares about training dogs and not just taking your money, unlike many other places. I would definitely consider coming back to Zoom Room in the future solely based on the amazing customer service I received and Cheryl's passion for dog training. It's rare to find this quality. My daughter begged me to try this with our golden retriever. It's a place to learn agility training and obedience for dogs and those of us who are pretending to be in charge of them. I thought it was just awesome! Big, clean, bright facility; helpful staff; reasonable rates. I liked it so much, I bought a punch card, so I'm going back at least 5 more times. Bet it'll be more. My dog Lucky has been enrolled in Agility classes for about one year. Lucky is a two-year-old, 77 pound Labradoodle, who has been very active. After taking puppy training classes elsewhere, he was getting wilder at about one. He went over the fences at off leash dog parks and chased small animals everywhere. He ignored the commands I thought he learned at the puppy classes. I decided that he would need to release his energy and feel good about playing and learning obedience while I can build communication with him. I found Zoom Room at that time. My experience since then over one year at Zoom Room has been very positive, and met and exceeded my expectations. Lucky enjoys going to Zoom Room. I know that because when I said, "let's go to Zoom Room", he gets excited and ready to go out with me. The trainers there have been very patient and have encouraged positive enforcement to achieve my goals.
