Their thorough evaluation and initial report on my vertigo issues impressed my other providers and me too! They didn't dumb it down. They obviously assumed they were dealing with a thinking person who wanted it all, not the oversimplified version, so they poured it on. Then they directed me to their in-house physical therapy doc for work on my dizziness. She was so kind and uber-patient. More kintergarten teacher than drill sergeant! She gave lots of encouragement and calmly explained the purpose of each exercise and what neural stimulation I should look for to know I was doing it right. If y'all had 6 stars, I'd use em here!

BTW, I'm a physician myself, so I really appreciate how good Dr. Syms is. Every physician visit these days seems rushed, and there are reasons for that. But although this visit was brief, it did NOT seem rushed.

I rarely leave reviews for doctors, but this visit truly deserves one. After seeing two ENTs in the…read morelast three months who offered only basic explanations and no real diagnostics, I sought out a neurotologist hoping for a deeper evaluation of my dizziness and balance issues. Dr. Mark Syms was my 3rd ENT specialist in 3 months , and I was desperate for answers -- not another surface‑level exam. Neutrologists are supposed to offer much more deeper diagnostics than a regular ENT. That's exactly why I booked with him even though I had seen two others like him recently. Unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing. From the moment he entered the room, his demeanor felt dismissive and impatient. I was visibly struggling to stay upright -- gripping the chair because my body felt like it was rocking on a boat -- yet he questioned me in a harsh, interrogative tone, interrupting repeatedly and correcting me instead of listening. When I tried to explain my symptoms the best I could, he became frustrated that I wasn't describing things in the exact terms he wanted.Despite my history and the severity of my symptoms, he offered no meaningful diagnostics. No imaging, no maneuvers, nothing beyond a quick look in my ears -- exactly what the previous ENTs had already done. He suggested physical therapy, which is the same thing the regular ENT recommended less than a month ago. I didn't come to a neurotologist for the same basic ENT approach. They advertise that they go deeper, but he did absolutely nothing beyond what a standard ENT could do, and with a much worse attitude. He also dismissed my concerns by suggesting anxiety, likely because I was suffering and wobbling, trying not to fall over on the chair, he should know as a deep level ENT people do that that are suffering, and its not obvious to the person watching you. He barely took the time to understand my situation. Seems like he was on a timer. I drove an hour out of my way to see him, again with no answers and to be belittled. I had a driver with me and was willing to undergo positional testing or further evaluation, but he declined. I left with generic online exercises and a bill, but no answers. After researching later, I found that other patients have reported similar experiences with his arrogance and dismissiveness. I'm still suffering today and still searching for real diagnostics. For anyone dealing with complex vestibular or neurological symptoms, I cannot recommend this provider. Patients deserve to be heard, taken seriously, and evaluated thoroughly -- none of which happened here.

After many decades of drumming and taking every opportunity to see the awesome bands of my day, my…read moretinnitus became more than a minor daily annoyance. I knew I needed help with my tinnitus and hearing loss, but I didn't want to be one of those persons who spends a gob of money on hearing aids, then doesn't use them. And here's where Dr. Kelly Hanscom really helped me out. I sport a shaved head, so it's not like I have luscious locks to help hide hardware behind my ears, so I really wanted to go with jamming the whole shootin' match in my ear. Dr. Kelly advised me on the available options and clearly explained the pros and cons of the different styles of hearing aids. I used a set of loaner hearing aids until my ordered units came in. Dr. Kelly tuned the loaners (and then my person devices) so that I would receive greater amplification of the frequencies in which my hearing is deficient. But she didn't overdo it. This seems to be where a lot of new hearing aid users experience frustration. I've heard several people say, "I'd wear them, but they're too dang loud!" Dr. Kelly artfully managed the acuity and volume of my hearing aids over the course of three months. As she explained, if a new user gets too much volume at first, it can be "jarring." That's the perfect word. So, over the course of three months, Dr. Kelly eased me into the "power" of my new hearing aids, and she also spent plenty of time ensuring that the fit is perfect and that I understand how to maintain and care for my new devices. I love wearing my hearing aids. It's been four months. The tinnitus therapy is wonderful! In fact, my wife can tell by my mood at the end of the day if I have been wearing my hearing aids. Without the tinnitus therapy, she says I am noticeably more anxious by day's end. And don't forget to say 'hello' and be nice to Franchesca at the front desk. After just a few visits, she had my name down and she regularly offers me cookies when I visit. Don't struggle another day with your tinnitus and hearing deficiencies. It's not only affecting your quality of life, but it's also affecting the quality of life of your family, friends, loved ones, and co-workers.

When I would call, the phone rang in a random Metro Hearing office and I'd have to leave a message. I had to manage the whole process with the help of my insurance company, which was something I'd never experienced...the insurance company working harder to get me care than the provider.
