Clearly chef does not know how to control the Deep fryer. I had a "Lunch Special" $7.45 pork egg foo young (super standard fast food Chinese order menu) I think this was the worst chines food I ever had. Sorry to review this restaurant as a 1, but our New Years meal was awful. Sesame chicken was so hard you couldn't chew it, and had no chicken in it. Way over cooked. Egg rolls were the same way. Shrimp and veggies were soggy. Veggie fried rice was watery tasting and hardly any veggies in it. We used to order from this place all the time and had great meals in the past. Fifteen miles from Reading, there is finally a substantial Chinese vegetarian menu, a whole page of vegan entrees. My sweet friend scoped this place out and sampled a variety of dishes for me before taking me, so cool. There is all the traditional stuff, and then veg duck, chicken, and ham, crafted from tofu or seitan. The seitan duck is particularly tender and good. We loved the scallion pancakes too. My friend special-requested curry sauce for her tofu dish, and it was really tasty; hope this gets onto the regular menu. A nice touch is the bottle of spicy sriracha rooster sauce on the table, yes please, since Zou's can be a bit shy on the spice. The great thing is that there is always something to come back and try. But I ask you, is there a demand for vegan food in Morgantown, and who is buying this food enough to keep it on the menu? I hope it stays. I don't *have* to have mock meats, but they are a nice treat. The building is on the end of an aging strip mall called the Clocktower, but the location atop a hill is nice, and you have a view of the area when you sit in the windows. Pretty chandelier. too. Prices are very affordable, and it is BYOB. Our bill was $52 for 3 appetizers and 4 entrees. Our recommendations would be to turn down the lights a bit at night and add a few candles and some music, and please, something other than news or sports on the tv if it must be on. They don't seem to focus on their dining room as much as their takeout. There wasn't a wine bucket for our white wine; we will bring one next time. In the middle of our meal, the owner's little boy came out festooned in a cute zebra hat and waved his large inflatable sword at us. I wish I had a picture. This is not the best place I have been to for Chinese food but... if you're in the area I did have good meal here. I had sweet and sour chicken and fried rice and enjoyed it. I give it 5 star because of quality of food for this area. This is a family business with their kids there, kind of like you would find in another country. Could be a negative but I like knowing I'm helping a family and enjoying seeing everyone there. Not professional and I'm sure many would not like the atmosphere but I did. If you ever go outside USA this is what it is like kids on games and not happy to be working the family business but who is? I have been a customer of this restaurant for fifteen years. I've seen ownership changes, bad reviews from the Department of Ag, but decided now that I work close to this location and they offer plant based options I would give them another try. Do not bother. My first order (and only) order I placed online with a link they provided. 1. The price was a few $$$ higher than my confirmation from the online order. I question this and was told... nothing. Ok, no big deal. 2. Took the order home. One entree was completely wrong, the other two entrees were missing items. I called and was told to give my name and the manager would call me right back. 30 minutes later, no call so I called again. I received no apology from the manager, but was told I would get a credit next order I placed. 3. I personally went in today to place the exact same order they screwed up. They gave me credit for one entree, and asked me for $18.00. All three of my entrees were either missing items and one was completely incorrect. I was essentially told I was just trying to get free food. From the same manager who would 'credit' me. They screwed up my entire family's meal, offered a credit and I'm trying to get free food? After much hassle, the manager went in the back to see if he was allowed to give me a free meal. I left. They lost a good customer and after I left I drove by their back door, which is a screen door. I'm posting this review while sitting in the parking lot. My girlfriend went into pick up our takeout order. We called 1 hour ago and they said ready in 15 minutes. She just let me know there is still no sign of our order...I told her to just leave. Would have never gone here if I knew it would take over an hour for takeout..... Ridiculous. Follow up.... Chicken was decent but not amazing. Semi chewy. Lo mein was decent too. Noodles didnt have a lot of seasoning but were ok. 7 bucks for a big portion. Overall id give it a 6.5/10. We used DoorDash for takeout...typically all Chinese food tastes the same to us but the past 2 times we felt like Zou's was exceptionally delicious! We love their Pork Lo Mein (lots of flavor, pork not chewy at all) and the General Tso's was spicy and the chicken was moist (not dry). Love the Crab Rangoon, also. My husband and I have been long time customers of Zous Garden. After the treatment I received today, we are no longer customers. 'Nuff Said!

I used to love going there. The lady was always so pleasant, but in the past year everything has gone downhill, lately when you place an order and they say 15 minutes you get there in 15 minutes and sit there and wait another 15 minutes. Or you get your order and part of it is missing and you say that part of your order is missing and they argue that you didn't order what you know you ordered. Then they make you stand there and wait for five minutes while your food is getting cold so that they can show you how they think you are wrong. Shitty service anymore. Don't appreciate being called a liar. And if you make a mistake you Should apologize, ask how you can make it right, and just do that instead of holding my food hostage while you try to prove me wrong. read more

On the positive side, the food was good. Huge portion for not a high price. My fiance and I got crab rangoon, Happy Family, and the Seven Stars (I forget the exact name). We took home leftovers. The plates were large and full of food. Very good. They even gave us free lemon cakes for dessert. Also delicious. Now, on the negative side. The service was slow. We were the only people in the restaurant and it still took 10 minutes just to get a drink order taken. Additionally, the owner/workers had their small children in the restaurant. Two small kids under 10 years old were running in and out of the kitchen and sneezing. A third kid was babysitting them and taking/delivering orders. The person in charge does not have adequate knowledge of food safety in this food facility as evidenced by this noncompliant inspection. Container of lye and other cleaning agents stored under and around the hand-wash sink in the rear prep area. Food facility unable to provide documentation for Sushi preparation procedures, monitoring of critical control points and corrective actions in the HACCP plan submitted to and approved by the department. A food employee was washing their hands at the prep sink rather than the designated hand-wash sink. Food employees in prep area not wearing proper hair restraints, such as nets, hats or beard covers. A food employee was slicing raw cucumber for sushi with bare hands. Open containers of food stacked upon other open containers of food in the walk-in cooler. A container of marinated ribs and other foods stored directly on the floor in the walk-in cooler, rather than six inches off of the floor as required. Food containers were being washed in the hand sink without employing a final sanitizing step prior to being placed on a shelf for drying. Hand sink used to store dirty utility hose that was used to clean equipment. Old food residue, dishes and utensils in the hand-wash sink, indicating uses other than hand-washing. Detectable odor of sewer gas in rear area by door to storage area next to the fume hood, indicating improper maintenance of gas traps or other control devices. Garden hose connected to the hand sink faucet has the potential for back flow into the plumbing system. Paper towel dispenser empty at the hand-wash sink in the bathroom. Went there a couple times, and it's pretty standard fare for a takeout Chinese food place. I would go here, because there isn't any other good Chinese places in the area. The dining room is alright, nothing fancy, but the owner is nice and the food is good and cheap too. I prefer getting takeout, just because it's faster, but when I went with some friends we did get free Chinese doughnuts for ordering a lot of food, which is cool. If you like Chinese, go here. By any standards this is a basic 3 Star Americanized Chinese restaurant offering the same food every other Chinese place near you has. Sesame chicken, lo mein noodle, shrimp fried rice, crab Rangoon, etc. They do mostly take out and are very accurate with the orders placed. They've never messed mine up and I've placed big orders and place small orders frequently. The reason I'm giving Zous 5 stars is because they offer vegetarian options and sushi + the staff is always helpful and remembers my spicy mayo without me even asking for it! The sushi is surprisingly good and I mean that in the best way because it's a Chinese restaurant serving sushi in lil Morgantown, PA... while it can't compete with my favorite sushi places in Lancaster county it's still good for the area. They offer some specialty rolls but I've mostly enjoyed the regular rolls like the sweet potato roll, New Orlean roll, and shrimp tempura Roll. Give this place a try! Ok so Zou's Garden I heard from someone that this place was a bad place, so after living near this place for a while we decided to check this it out, an ya they were right I went there with two other people and they were not very happy either. It was empty except one other person and the owners 3 other kids, I ordered the shrimp rice noodle dish and it tasted burnt even tho it didn't have any burnt noodles and it was different iv never had bamboo in it but it tasted funny, my cousin ordered 1 or 2 cream cheese and cucumber sushi roles, they didn't even make the roles until we got our hot food and the guy at the table next to us got his hot food. The sushi roles were not even cold like they should have been. The owner took our order she was polite an quick but than when she told her kids to go take the food to the tables they didn't even want to do it they were rude and didn't know what table the food went to. I wouldn't eat ther again unless they changed. That is probably why no one else was there. read more

Used to eat there all the time. Stopped after I got tired of seeing youngsters ( owners kids) waiting tables and handling food. One of them had some type of whooping cough, and the other was a nose picker. If it's not illegal to have kids working behind the counter (7-8 year olds) it darn well should be. It's hard enough to instill food handling safety concepts into adults, much less children. Will never go back. I now go to Good Friend in the Morgantown Crossing center. They are still a little bit dirty, but I'd rather take my chances there. I will say that Zou's food was always good, but I'll not have kids touching my silverware & plates. We have been long time patrons of zous and we were excited to enjoy our take out. We ordered our usual sesame chicken and general sous, we also ordered a side of lo mein and white rice for the kids. We hadn't tried their sushi yet so we ordered two rolls. This was probably the worst $33 I've ever spent. Our sushi rolls just fell apart it was impossible to eat them like you would normal sushi. Our chicken meals had little to no flavor and the pork fried rice tasted like it was a few days old. We got no sauces in our bag. Our egg rolls tasted like they had been frozen for who knows how long :( this has always been our favorite Chinese place to order from but I'm not sure I'll be wasting any more of my money here again. The only positives were the free crab ragoons that we got with our order and the white rice was well... white rice. Did they change owners? The food quality just really seemed to have gone down!
