We ordered a variety of dishes coming here but my favorite has to be the Homestyle Tofu or the Fish Filet. I would like to try more dishes next time. They give you quite a good amount of food for the price. Some places charge the same and give you much less. This place has authentic Chinese food with some common favorites that many of us also know (chicken with broccoli, lo mein, general tso's etc.) so there is something for everyone. There are vegetarian dishes available as well. If you're in the area and would like more savory, authentic Chinese food I recommend coming here!

The air conditioning is rather weak during our dining experience as I felt warm during the Northeast heat wave oppressive humidity continuous week. Condiments issued at the table were aged dark vinegar, green tea but not Matcha was complimentary served. My party only use aged dark vinegar as a condiment for dumplings. We have a predilection for mellow, malty sweetness of dark vinegar rather than the high salt content in soy sauce. Customer service is attentive and staff is fluent in Mandarin and English. Yi Pin is a Chinese restaurant that serves regional cuisine of Shanghainese and Szechuan province. It is what my party of three refer non-Cantonese, Guangdong province 外省人 ngoi6 saang2 jan4 (noun) outside province; foreign person. Ergo, staff does not speak Cantonese - neither rudimentary level. Price is extortionate high, but expected in 2026 stagflation era. I was able to obtain the sales receipt as keepsake. Asian melon hard candy is distributed with the bill upon meal completion which is industry standard for Asian restaurants and cafes. At the bottom of the sales receipt there is a suggested gratuity in intervals of 18%, 20% and 22% where customers do not have to perform math calculation. There is one large beautiful Japanese beckoning cat, (maneki-neko) which adjacent to the cash register. Business cards are available for grabs. There is a customer parking lot available. Beef noodle soup $15.95 The soup broth bubbles are very visible for the high level of cholesterol and fat content. I believe the cook or kitchen staff used and implemented MSG. This was a big setback leading to disappointment for my three Yelp stars. La mian wheat based noodles were embedded and sufficient. I enjoyed the La mian wheat noodles. Lo Mein chicken $12.95 It was stirred fried and abundant for excessive quantity. I did not consume any - neither one bite. It seemingly appeared very high grease and fat content for excessive oil. Shanghainese soup dumplings 6 pieces, $10.95 Pork steam soup dumplings siu2 lung4 baau1, 小籠包 tasted average, but not exuberant great to awaken my soul for sprightly liveliness. There were very minimal soup liquid inside the dumpling upon biting. I did ponder with hope and wonder during our wait for our food order arrival that these soup dumplings would be bursting with excessive soup liquid and flavor. It was not served piping hot as I am accustomed in NYC Shanghainese restaurant industry standards. These dumplings prepared by the cook(s) or kitchen staff at Yi Pin are egregiously appalling and insult to New York Chinese. I refused to apologize for being a native New Yorker. The dumpling skin tip where placing the serving tongs also tasted hard. Also another reason for my three Yelp stars.

The lady who takes the orders over the phone can be very hard to understand. But here's the fix: Place your order online. That's the only way I've been ordering for a couple of years now. No misunderstandings, plus you choose your pick up time and she'll have your order ready at your chosen time or darn close to it. This is my go to Chinese place in Ephrata. Another good place over on the east side of Ephrata is the Ephrata Asian Bistro (in the Giant shopping center). They're more set up for eat-ins. Their food is quite good, too. You can eat your food "in" at China Moon but it's much less fancy than the Ephrata Asian Bistro. I never eat "in" at China Moon. I figure the poor lady has enough on her hands with telephone orders, packaging everything up and then payments (except for online orders - you pay when you order), that she doesn't need the extra burden of cleaning up tables. A Gourmet Garden sits in a small shopping center next to the Giant grocery store in Leola, PA. This establishment fits into the same catgeory as the typical Chinese-American takeout restaurant. Yes, you can eat there, but there are approximately 4-6ish tables to sit at. The menu features the ubiquitous, commonly known dishes that Americans opt for. There are the same highlighted pictures of dishes lighted on a marquee above, and to the side of the counter, displaying commonly ordered dishes that you will find in every other restaurant of this type. With that being said, sometimes you will find an occasional dish on the lunch/combo/chef specialty dish offerings that differs from most other places serving the same menu. On this occasion I found the "shredded pork in garlic sauce" lunch. I chose this because most typically do not find "shredded pork" with the respective sauce at places like this, at least around here. The miniature dining room is separated from the kitchen by a counter, where orders are placed and money is collected. As with most places like this, the kitchen is fully visible so I could see what was happening in the back of house. First of all, the cook did not wear any type hand protection when handling ingredients. Secondly, there was no "shredded" pork in my dish. The cook simply took their roast pork (yes, the stuff with the red colored crust) and cut the slices into the pieces you see in my picture. I asked for my dish to be extra spicy, as I always do, and the heat I was looking for lacked. This particular dish on their menu is branded with a chili pepper, indicating that it is SUPPOSED to be spicy. From my experience, the high majority of Chinese-American restaurants NEVER make their dishes spicy when they are supposed to be. Probably, they are catering to the average palate but this is why I ask for "extra spicy" instead of just "spicy". Regardless, the sauce was thicker than desired. When you order a lunch special you actually have the choice of an included egg roll OR soup however I was not offered an option. If you do not specify you want soup, you will automatically get an egg roll. Overall, service was quick, as it tends to be in this type of establishment. The food was cheap and filling. But, as far as quality and satisfaction go, there was room for improvement and some to be desired. I cannot fault them for their level of standards, which parallels many other establishments in the same category, but one can always strive for a higher level of excellence.
