I would not recommend this service for someone with a neurotypical 4 year old child with occasional…read morepoop accidents (the scope of the service I had direct experience with). I believe I could have saved thousands of dollars and considerable stress by just going to a Ped GI specialist. The course of treatment for children who hold in poop too long seems to very often involve use of stimulant laxatives. Samantha is careful to never actually directly tell you to have your kid take medication. However, to me this seemed to me to be more of a legal maneuver to avoid liability as she brings things up in a constant but indirect way which was extremely frustrating to deal with. In our case, the temporary use of laxatives was recommended by the doctor but I would have never imputed what I understood to be her recommendations including use of suppository laxatives after she had pooped multiple times that day from the written instructions from the doctor's office. To be clear these recommendations were ALWAYS made in an indirect way, though in my opinion any reasonable person would understand the intent of her circumlocution. Every time I tried to bring up a reasonable concern or complaint with Samantha, I was referred to the 15 page client agreement and told that I was wrong instead of her actually listening to what I had to say. Speaking to Samantha in my experience was like talking to a lawyer or someone heavily coached by one rather than someone trying to accommodate the unique circumstances and needs of her customers. After two days of having Samantha in my home neither myself, my husband or our nanny felt we could get a straights answer from her about what the long term plan was and none of us actually understood her approach or what we had actually paid for with this service. On day three I decided that my daughter had been messed with enough and that there was no good reason why she should not return to school or why we should ever be using suppository laxatives or laxatives in the quantities she was pushing (indirectly) again. I'm glad I did. She did not need to miss another say of school and we didn't need to keep traumatizing her with so much iatrogenic intervention for another day. In my opinion, I should have been more skeptical of a business that makes everyone sign a non-disparagement agreement and relies on a 15 page legal document to do business. She has really lost sight of her customers wants and needs and is so insistant on her rigid approach that she cannot adapt her method or accommodate any reasonable request. If you break with any part of her very rigid and in my opinion extreme program she will simple say you are wrong and point you to the agreement instead of trying to come up with a modified plan. In retrospect, I should have had a lawyer review the client agreement before engaging them for service. It is publicly available on the website.
