Great little coffee shop to stop in during a work trip (they have ice cream too). The staff were extremely friendly and the service was quick. I got an iced peppermint mocha which hit the spot when I was in need of an afternoon caffeine burst. The space has a small seating area with 7-8 small, round tables. One staff member is too loud. He shouts. I get it, he's excited about working at Zumis. It's a fun place. But he's so loud. He needs to understand that the shouting is not appreciated. He was also a bit strange as I was cashing out my order with the cashier. He said he'd hit the cashier if he wanted me to. I'm sure it was an inside joke, but i'm not privy to this inside joke, if there is one. I'm a customer. I just want to give Zumis my money in exchange for coffee. Management needs to have a conversation with this employee about expectations of conduct in front of customers. read more

I love Zumiez food. It is amazing and their drinks are absolutely spectacular, but I'm here to rant about their staff. There is one man he is older with an accent who was talking to me and my friends, regular customers with a different tone to his voice he kept asking to pinch us, and he was looking at us in a sexualizing way I would like to inform that I love all of your other stuff this man should be kept content he kept trying to give away free stuff to me and my friends, which I understand is a grateful matter but he was trying to give it to us in an inappropriate way and now every time I go in there and I see this man I feel uncomfortable. My barista did a good job following my instructions. My latte was just the perfect temperature. I had hot latte and my husband had a mocha. Everyone is very friendly. They have plenty of tables. I so badly want to love Zumi's but it always seems to fall short. The drinks are okay and expensive, the baristas do try but often seem overwhelmed and the tables/chairs are usually not clean and are sticky. Hoping to try again in a few months to see if it's any better :( read more

This is by far my favorite coffee shop EVER! For coffee I've only gotten their Caramel Cloud Latte (always iced) as it's most fantastic. It's a caramel latte which then is drizzled in caramel! So ridiculously delicious! Then I've had their sticky bun, I wish I hadn't as now I HAVE to get one if there are any. Luckily for my pants and love handles there usually isn't any left when I get there, assumably because they're SO good! I have also tried their citrus muffin which quite wonderful as well. They use compostable cups and straws (for ice coffee) which I love as they care about waste and cutting down on the excess of plastic in the world. They have a $5 credit card minimum, today I learned they can round up to $5 and donate the extra $ to The Open Door Food Pantry in Ipswich. I think that is a MOST FABULOUS idea and will go out of my way to support a great company who will strive to build up the community and environment just because of good work practice. read more

Local, organic fair trade coffee shop. Small inside with no Wifi, but they support a lot of local artists and have rotating features! Live music on some days which is really awesome. Coffee is good and a little more $ but I personally think its worth it. They do charge for almond/soy milk which is a bit of a drag. Used to be cash only, but FINALLY switched to CC with a $5 minimum purchase. Due to those 2 facts I give them 4 stars. If you're in the area, be sure to stop by! read more

This place was amazing. I would recommend it to anyone. It's in the beautiful town of Ipswich and as soon as I walked in I knew I was going to have the time of my life. I ordered a Raspaberry float and a hot cocoa. But they didn't give me what I ordered. They gave me TWO hot cocoas because it was snowing and cold outside and the nice lady at the register felt bad for me. They only charged me for one hot cocoa! The cocoa and float were ok but the customer service was outstanding. I was with my girlfriend and an Asian employee came up to us and asked why we left our stuff at another table. We answered stupidly and he gave us a 5 min speech on why what we did was wrong. I felt inspired. I learned never to do that again, and I should think about other people more. I came into ZUMI'S looking for a hot beverage to drink, but I left ZUMI'S with a full stomach, and learned a life lesson I will never forget. read more

It's been awhile since I've had a coffee from Zumi's. If I still lived close by I'd go all the time because their coffees are amazing. My mother was looking for muffins so since we were in the area I said we should check here and they did have muffins (hurrah!). She got a couple blueberry and has reported back that they are delicious. We both went with the caramel cloud latte. I found it perfect - so creamy and yet strong. The only negative was the man serving us seemed a bit put out and she felt really rushed to decide on muffins and coffee. Maybe have a bit more patience with older guests. read more

I am local but only became a regular when COVID hit. When Umesh started delivering ground coffee to his customers I was pretty impressed. I didn't have it delivered but it was pretty easy to get it curbside. When they started back with regular coffee service we switched to buying ground coffee inside and getting our ice coffee there on days we walk the dog in Bradley Palmer. I love the Ipswich 1633 blend for home brewing. It's a low acid coffee that I never get tired of. Since we have been working from home this is what we have been drinking for almost 6 months. The iced coffee pour is what everyone should be doing. The coffee goes in first and they fill it close to the top about 3/4 full then add just enough ice to keep it cold. So when you are getting close to the bottom it tastes the same as the first sip, not watered down from melted ice. read more

I am a big fan of Zumi's coffee!! I'm not a local, but every time I come to town I stop by every morning for a cup of coffee and go home with a pound or two of beans! I love that they have a variety of roast profiles. I love the house blend, the Sherpa blend, ring of fire, and uprising the best. Actually, I haven't had a brew I didn't like. I also enjoy the cold brew!! They serve the old brew on tap and nitro! All the coffee is fair trade, which is especially nice. The world needs more places like this delightful coffee shop! It's only fair that I preface this review: I'm a very serious coffee snob. This is an ice cream joint that happens to have a espresso machine. If you want a frap or a flavored coffee beverage this is your spot. They do those things well. My espresso here has always been burnt. Barista's struggle with the classics; espresso, macchiato, gibraltar, ect. Sadly, if you are looking for espresso there is none to be found in Ipswich. read more

I'm a former employee, so I have a slight bias, but I have yet to find more than a select few coffee shops that I like as much as good old Zumi's. All the baristas are trained on real espresso machines - everyone knows how to dose out, pull, and serve espresso, and how to steam the milk up oh-so-good. The prices haven't changed since they opened 6 years ago, with the exception of the recent sales tax hike, which clearly wasn't optional. Any size cup of hot coffee is always less than 2 dollars, and iced is always less than 3. Thankfully, Zumi's offers soy milk, and lets you put in your own cream and sugar - no guessing how much you want (and probably getting it all wrong). There's also tons of culture. Spend a few minutes talking with Umesh, Om, or Babesh about their lives in Nepal - they have some great stories, and they love to celebrate their culture at the cafe. There's tons of stuff for kid's entertainment - from books, toys, and ice cream, to the bi-weekly kid's music hour on Mondays from 4-5 with Brian Doser. Note to the wise: no credit cards. There are ATMs around the street, but most of them have bogus charges if you aren't TDBank or a local bank, so definitely have cash or a check handy. There is Wi-Fi picked up from somewhere in town, but there are only a few outlets available out on the floor, so be sure to have a full battery if you plan on bringing your laptop in to do some work! read more

I have been going to Zumi's a few years. Back in the day when they had the owners there and great barista staff who knew how to get it right. Now I am not so picky about a cappuccino. I like it dry, simple. The last several times I have been in Zumi's I really got a latte, not even a cappuccino. Dry means less milk and only froth--isn't that in barisita school? I wouldn't complain, but the prices are way out of touch for a small town. The baked goods are minimal, sometimes too dry and so expensive. And what prompted me to write was the guy who mentioned the dust---yikkes, I went and looked and there it was!. Their coffee for sale is really good, at home where I can make it. I don't charge for soy milk, and no one on earth does either. I think its time to get back to that local coffee place where you don't spend your dinner money on a cup of coffee. Put in a comfy chair and lower your prices-- and the place will be packed. Other wise, we will continue to get on the DD train. read more

I'm not opposed on trying this place again - I stopped in for a while today and had an iced mocha that wasn't revelatory, but was decent enough to encourage the barista next time to pump enough chocolate into it to make it a real mocha; the espresso was smoove. My main beef with Zumi's is that it's cluttered and dusty. I noticed that all of their coffee accoutrements on display for sale had a layer of dust on them that would put me off buying any of it, and there seemed to be boxes lining the walls almost everywhere I looked. It's already a dark space, so really, the owner needs to work on developing a better aesthetic that invites customers to return. Cleanliness is step one to achieving a good vibe. Also, lose the itinerate musician noodling on his electric guitar. Nine times out of ten, these folks just aren't talented enough to add anything positive to the atmosphere, and they're death on newspaper readers like me who want relative quiet. On the plus side, the staff today was a friendly one, and the prices are fair. I'll be back to up-rank Zumi's if I dig their ice cream and/or can get a chocolatier mocha. read more

The best coffee I have ever had, hands down. We actually have to pick up pounds to bring to family when we travel. Everyone that works there is super nice, and knows your name, if not your order. They are always suggesting new things to try, and interested in how you're doing. We buy their coffee and brew it at home during the week, and usually stop there on the weekend. Sometimes I'll go for lunch, just a coffee and a cookie, or bagel (if there are any left from the morning). Perfect. My only problem is that they charge to get a little soy milk in my coffee (as I don't like to use milk or cream). But I get over that pretty easily after my first sip! read more

In the heart of downtown Ipswich is Zumi's - a cute little coffee shop where the owners recognize regulars and get to know you and your family. They serve fair trade and organic coffee - coffee so good that my husband (who is from Ipswich) has brought several bags o' beans from Zumi's back to DC so we can have our own Zumi's experience in our home. Zumi's gets a lot of Yelp lovin' from me because it is just a genuinely nice place. The drinks are great, don't get me wrong, but it has more soul than just being a coffee and ice cream shop. It seems to be a real institution in the town. For example, Zumi's partners with the local schools and displays art work/projects from the elementary school students (my mother-in-law teaches art at one of the local elementary schools - so naturally she is a huge fan of this spot). You'll be glad you went and grabbed yourself a cup. read more

OK, so I only had an iced mocha, but it was nearly perfect and I'm going to give this place the benefit of the doubt that most of the rest of what they do is just as good. I visited very briefly after noticing some great jazz emanating from within. We had just had lunch and I just had to go in and try it. As some of you know, I have a soft spot for indie coffee houses and like to try them whenever possible. The fact that this place service Fair Trade was a big plus in my book too.
