My sad chilli cheese dog and orange julius
John O.

So the place was clean and actually seems either fairly new, or renovated. Service was quick. Chilli cheese dog: cheese wasn't melted. Even though the whole thing was tossed in the microwave. The chilli was bland and the hot, well, didn't taste terrible I guess. So I had heard this ancient legend of the 'Orange Julius.' I had never had it before, only knowing it to be a product of the 1980's. Made it a point to buy. What is so special about this drink? It was mediocre, overly sweet, and had an odd aftertaste. I'm gonna blame this drinks popularity on the fact that it was a product of the 80's, like New Coke. Excited to try, a little disappointed in the experience, but moving onto new things. A basic summary of my life in one visit to Dairy Queen/Orange Julius.

I guess this is a small at DQ now?
Sam Z.

I've been coming to this Dairy Queen since I could eat ice cream. I didn't know that my extra extra small cone came with bad customer service, too! What an honor. Thank you so much DQ! This was NOT worth my money or time.

Nice to find this in rural America. Nice and prompt service. There was no public restroom, but we were told to go down the block to a pizza place, which we did, and all was fine.

Nice night for an ice cream

Even the coleslaw and tartar sauce were made with care. The servers hustle like crazy. They treat you like good friends. Some diners may have frowned on service. Those girls never stopped, and they smiled and laughed. (Who doesn't need that these days?) It's sea scallop season, so even those scallops are expensive I had to do it. The scallop dinner w/fries and onion strings was a bit over $35, but there were 14 huge, right off the boat succulent scallops. The burgers also looked great. Get on over there.

**Classic local watering hole with solid food and atmosphere**…read more The Chote Pub is definitely a neighborhood spot through and through. You can tell the regulars get priority attention from the bartenders, but we eventually got taken care of too - just be prepared to be patient if it's busy and you're a new face. The food was good with very generous portions that definitely give you your money's worth. Drinks were well-made and hit the spot. We loved the setup for watching football - great views of the games from multiple angles around the bar. **Important heads-up: This is a CASH ONLY establishment.** Make sure you stop at an ATM before you arrive, or you'll be making a quick exit to find one. The vibe here is very much old-school local pub - if that's your scene, you'll love it. If you're looking for something more polished or trendy, this might not be your spot. We enjoyed the unpretentious atmosphere and will likely be back, but it's definitely worth knowing what you're walking into first. Bottom line: Come for honest pub fare, generous portions, cold drinks, and a genuine local experience. Just bring cash!

We went back again last week and must have caught them on an "off" night: we think the usual chef was off because it was obvious the person in the kitchen didn't know what they were doing. All three of us had salad as our starters which were OK: large but were already dressed with an abundance of dressing. My companions both ordered Ruebens. The meat was tough as shoe leather. It might have been ok if the cook had used a meat slicer to cut the meat in thin slices but it was sliced in two thick chunks, making it impossible to eat. The server said that ppl were always sending it back...hmm...The server/bar tender was very nice and took those off the bill. A meatball appetizer was ordered and was very good. I had chicken wings as my second course (well done) and they were OK. My S-I-L had an order but didn't specify "well done", so hers were chewy and not so good. We were very disappointed in the food but thought the server did a great job.

When you walk in, the place is beautiful- sort of modern rustic chic with beautiful string lights. We ordered mussels and wine to start. Mussels were fantastic. Meaty, flavorful and plenty for everyone. The entree is where it fell short for me. I got the shrimp pasta. While the flavor was there, when I cut into the shrimp they still looked pretty translucent to me. After eating one and cutting up a few others, I felt that they were undercooked. The waitress said they wouldn't cook them more but she could bring the plate back and ask if they were cooked through. My plate came back and I was told they were cook so I sat there pushing soft, nasty shrimp around my plate while just eating spaghetti. My boyfriend asked for a medium burger and it was definitely rare to medium rare. When this happens, generally you offer to bring out new protein cooked again or ask if the guest wants something else but I was just left to feel like I was nuts. Whatever, into dessert. Now for dessert, I thought we'd try the cookies and ice cream. cookies were completely raw ( not just soft) and also not hot and the ice cream on the plate looked like it was pre scooped and refrozen. While I loved the concept of this place. Relaxing getaway where you can just do it all onsite, I honestly would spare yourselves the experience of the restaurant or order fish and chips or fried chicken) and just dine in Newburyport.

Ribs had a nice smoke ring, a bit salty for my tastes, but still an excellent cook on the ribs Mac and cheese was great, I wanted a multi cheese taste... add a parm cheese to it... still excellent cook on the Mac and cheese Beans very good, I like a bit more molasses, with few chunks briskets ... excellent however Corn bread on dry side...needs improvement Only one option for bbq ... The pork belly sandwich special was an unforgettable mouthful: juicy, cheesy, and perfectly stacked on toasted rye that added the ideal crunch. We were shocked (in the best way) by the salad portions--massive! Easily enough to feed a family of four, and fresh as can be. The cornbread? Soft, sweet, and heavenly with the honey butter. We did think a little toast would've helped that butter melt just right--but still a must-order. The house pickles were crisp with the most satisfying snap and bold flavor. We also tried the hush puppies with their unique dipping sauce--super creative, though not totally our vibe. Limited seating means you might wait, but trust us--it's absolutely worth it. Booth or table seating. The Rusty Can is a flavor-packed experience from start to finish.
