Stopped in this morning 200 miles into my morning motorcycle ride around 7am. Inside was already lively and jovial. I was pleasantly greeted by the young lady at the counter. Having come here before, and enjoying my hot latte, I came in for another. I asked for a food recommendation and was not led astray with a delicious turkey croissant sandwich. Sandwich was handed over immediately and latte prepared shortly after, I took both outside and enjoyed at a table in the sun to warm up. What comes next is where small establishments such as this shine, I was then greeted by the owner, Werner, himself. He was very friendly and pleasant to converse with, I asked for another food recommendation after hearing that the majority of the eats are made in house. Werner recommended the "Linzer Tart". Never hearing of one before I was intrigued, I was in the opportune position to try one. And it did not disappoint! Third day in a row at Zuri Coffee and they have not missed once. This spot is the perfect mix of cute and cozy, with alternative old-school rock playing that gives it such a nostalgic feel. The art on the walls is super immersive, it's one of those places where you actually want to sit and stay awhile. They've got tons of grab and go options, and even when it's busy (which it usually is), the staff moves like a well oiled machine. From the moment you walk in, you're hit with that fresh coffee aroma... immediate comfort. Every pastry looked insanely good, and tasted even better. The avocado toast with burrata? Executed perfectly. Couldn't recommend this place enough. Definitely would be in my regular rotation if I was a local. read more

Came in on a sunny Saturday morning and it was good to see a lot of patrons enjoying the indoor and outdoor seating. There were soooo many pastries to choose from so we asked the sweet cashier what she recommended. We enjoyed some strawberry goodie that had a crème brûlée flair to it. We also ordered the breakfast sandwich on a brioche bun (inexpensive!), and açaí bowl, and a latte. I was indecisive on my latte so again I asked for their opinion and it's so good! A latte with some honey in it. Simple and so good! We sat there to enjoy our food and it got really crowded but the line moved and people got their orders in a timely manner. I always love the Truckee/Tahoe ambiance with the restoration hardware feel. A must stop by no matter where you're going through Truckee. read more

I drove all the way to Reno on my way to a hike and chose this place over all of those Reno based upon the reviews. I was in no way disappointed.. Let's start with the ambience. - no crowds, soft music, friendly staff, and even met the owner who thanked me for my business. I felt like my blood pressure dropped 20 mmHg when I stepped in.. Service wise only one person was in front of me and the barista was super friendly attentive and had suggestions. She was patient because it was my first time here and helped guide me through my order. I ended up choosing a toasted marshmallow mocha latte with an extra shot of espresso.. the sandwich was a club sandwich, but keep in mind. It wasn't what I was thinking. It was actually more like a Panini. And boy were they both delicious.. Let's start with the latte: it had a rich brown flavor, not too much oatmeal which I had requested and just the right amount of syrups mixed with the extra espresso. It smooth but packs a punch and mine was 16 ounce iced version.. The sandwich itself came out hot toasted in the bread was thin, but yet soft enough just to give it a gentle bite. In addition, I think I taste some type of aïoli sauce mixed with pesto, which has a really great flavor. The chicken is plentiful along with the bacon.. everything blended well together for a brunch. I am so thankful I drove out of Reno to make it up here and the best part is that it is light enough on my stomach to continue to go to my hike, which is the reason I was headed this way. This place saved my trip! i'm a big coffee nerd and i was in truckee for a week. the first 4 or so days i tried other spots in the area and they all disappointed me compared to their reviews. this place is great though! not only was the staff super sweet even early in the morning when i had to stop by before i headed back to la, but the coffee was great and very affordable. the place is super cute and relaxing vibes. coffee had a consistent flavor both times i came in and the food was yummy too, both days. next time i come up to tahoe this will be my spot love how their vanilla lattes aren't overly sweet and have a nice balance of the espresso flavor and the syrup. read more

Popped in here for a quick bite and was blown away by the avocado toast! The serving size was generous and I really enjoyed the burrata with it - gave a kind of bruschetta crossover feel. There's a lot of grab and go options at the counter that all looked fresh and tasty - there is more food here than I expected. The inside is small but cozy, and it's mostly communal seating. Zuri Coffee Bar is easily the best coffee spot in Truckee. We've visited several coffee shops in the area, but nothing else comes close. The food is next-level--the panini was perfectly pressed with crisp, golden bread, and the Linzer tart was truly incredible (seriously, don't skip it). Lots of flavors to choose from for a latte! I went with a hazelnut latte, it was tasty but had hints of syrupy taste. My drink was also pretty small, I thought 12oz was the standard size for a hot latte but I didn't click correctly and ordered an 8oz - my mistake. Best avocado toast I've had in a while. Flavor of the cheese and toppings meld together well. Although the bread seemed a little like normal sandwich bread- a quality crisp sourdough toast would be preferred. Modern interior and the restroom facilities were clean :). This sandwich was 17$ plus tip. Bread is stale, hard as a rock. Wasn't able to finish. Microwaved limp bacon and a nice hard piece of plastic that got stuck in between my teeth. Zuri is a must-visit every time I'm in Truckee. As a big chai lover, I have to say that their chai is absolutely delicious! At the time of writing, they're offering a seasonal pumpkin chai that's to die for. They always have a great selection of pastries, and the service is consistently excellent. On this visit, we tried both the vanilla and pumpkin chai, paired with a blueberry scone. The scone was massive, priced at just $6, and incredibly moist while being packed with fresh blueberries that added the perfect touch of tang throughout. Yelp yet again steered me right! Rode my bike in the cold for 14 miles and needed a cuppa hot something to defrost. This place showed really good matcha so off I went. And yes the matcha was bright green, unsweetened with almond milk, just the way I like it. The ladies at the front were so sweet and friendly. The bake all their goodies in house too, they told me. Then I happened to meet the owner while I sipped on my matcha outside. He is the kindest man, super friendly and happy to hear that their matcha is up to par. He even gifted me his homemade granola! Still my favorite coffee shop in Truckee. Came in for a lox & bagel and was pleasantly surprised. Very fresh bagel, and the lox was perfect. I was greeted friendly when I went to the counter. Customer service here is top-notch. Also, the seating is nice however limited during rush-hour time. Especially when high school kids get out of school. What I ordered: Lox and as bagel (add on extra lox) The onions, capers, cream, cheese, and lox or traditional, some thin sliced avocado was added on top of it. It's the first time I've had avocado with lox & bagel. It actually complemented it really well. The staff is really nice. The owner takes pride in making sure his customers are happy. Just a great place to grab a wonderful roast, coffee, lots of beautiful desserts, great breakfast, and lunch items. As I mentioned to the rude employee, I didn't care about the money (I donated the $0.25 right back to the cashier.) It was the principle of it. The description on the receipt should not have said "To-Go Charge" - my order was not to-go. Nowadays merchants - restaurants, hotels, casinos, cities ,,, - tack on fees & surcharges left and right, even universities (UC) charge 10 to 12 different fees for many services the students never utilize. Zuri Coffee was very busy on a Friday (late) afternoon! The interior had a cozy ambiance, with a cool mural on the back wall and rustic decor. There was a pretty long line to order at the counter, which gave us time to look at the surprisingly large menu. We also had time to drool over the pasties in the display case, which looked incredible! I ended up ordering the Avocado Toast and a Berry Turnover to share with my friend. Service was understandably not the fastest because they were slammed. Unfortunately, my Avocado Toast was a little disappointing. The portion size was good and the avocado tasted fresh, but the proportion of the other ingredients was way off. It was supposed to have buffalo mozzarella, but the tiny pieces they put on top were definitely not enough. The heap of greens was also too much. However, my friends' sandwiches looked way better, so maybe I just ordered the wrong item. The Berry Turnover was delicious - perfect flakey dough, tasty berry filling. Hi I would recommend this place for a cup of coffee and an pastrie. Very very good. Just beware ..Truckee charges an extra 25cents for ur cup. So advice to come with your own mug or container. They are trying to limit garbage in Mountain area. I did see it at the Thai food restaurant as well. But just a not to the owner of this business. You have free water on display and offer free paper cups? I used one. If I had known I would be charged 25cents for my cup I would have used my Free cup from the water I had. So not to waste 2 cups which I did. So, should you have those cups their for water? Or any water at all? It does kill the purpose of that 25cents. Who gets the 25cents? The business or Truckee? Staff that has been there for a while. What more could you ask for? We try to come in for a 2pm coffee break from work when we can. Order my chocolate croissant (one of the best that I've had). I don't like apple pastries but their apple strudel is prob the only one I can eat. They have soy milk too. Please don't ever take this option away. Tastes so much better in a latte than other alternatives. Protein rich and gut friendly for lactose intolerant folks. The owners are very nice ppl too. Bonus! read more

One of my favorite places in Northern California - can not recommend this place highly enough! We came to this place the first time in 2016 and have been huge fans since then (we drive there all the way from Lake Tahoe just to get breakfast). All the food is outstanding and high quality and the staff is super friendly! We chatted a bit with the owner who clearly pours his heart into making every visit a special experience for every guest and that really comes across! Coffee is top notch when done right, but there are inconsistencies once in a while maybe due to a heavily changing staff (common around here)? The baguettes, cookies and bagels are SO yummy!!
