My sister and I were super excited to see a new ramen place in Ocala! The restaurant is very cute and well decorated and when we went for lunch it was quite busy! There seemed to be a lot of people who placed take out orders. We ordered a lychee slush and peach slush, both which were delicious! We however were pretty disappointed with the food. Our bao buns were incredibly salty and we couldn't even finish them. The ramen was a HUGE portion for what it was but lacked in flavor. The broth had no depth and was not a true tonkatsu broth unfortunately. I would recommend this place only for the drinks, but would be open to trying maybe some other items on the menu. Hoping for a better tasting next time!

The ambiance was like I was transported to Japan. Very modern decor and very clean. The service was very attentive and we even got a free off the menu mochi flavor. The apps were delicious, but not mind blowing. We got the goyza, spring rolls, and fried tofu. The goyza was average and the fried tofu was too big. The spring rolls were my favorite. I got the hot and spicy tonkatsu ramen. This was the star of my lunch. The egg melted in my mouth; the broth was spicy yet full of flavor; the pork belly was devine; and the noodles were perfectly cooked. My wife got the fried chicken boa buns. She said her only complaint was that lettuce was used instead of shredded napa cabbage. Then there was dessert... We got 1 off each flavor mochi!!! Both the strawberry and mango were flavor bombs. The chocolate was too dense and lacked a flavor wow factor as the strawberry and mango. Then the gift of the matcha mochi was DELICIOUS and I'll probably be bouncing off the walls for the rest of the day with how much matcha was in it. Finally, we both got iced jasmine green tea... We couldn't get enough!!! It was like drinking the nectar of the Gods.

Food here is very consistent. Spice level to the spicy ramen was perfect. The chashu pork had a significant amount of fat with only a bite of actual meat which was disappointing. However, the ramen tasted very nice overall with the noodles cooked perfectly. Calamari was also delicious as was the boba, though nothing overly spectacular. Food came out extremely quick which was appreciated. *please note that the rating is appropriate according to Ocala standards

First of all the waiter was soooo sweet and patient! He really made our experience a pleasant one. My mom and I split an order of the bao buns and a chicken ramen. The amount of food was perfect! They even offered to split the ramen into two bowls for us. The flavors were delicious. The only reason I needed to deduct a star is because the egg is my favorite part of ramen (I even ordered an extra one) and it was overcooked. It should be a nice jammy egg, not hard boiled! But it was delicious anyway and we will be back :) One more thing, there was someone soliciting for donations inside as we were eating and it was a little uncomfortable. Maybe a sign out front could remedy this.

Best ramen so far in Florida. The broth is what makes the ramen and if your a foodie like me you'll know when the ramen is delicious or not. Broth takes time to make. Service was great and the place felt and looked clean and inviting Black Garlic Tonkatsu and done!

    Taro boba, Thai tea

Zuru Ramen Boba in Ocala offers a convenient and trendy spot for Asian fast dining, something Ocala hasn't seen much of before. The ramen here is decent, with a good amount of broth, and the noodles have a nice texture. The pork belly is flavorful, and for a richer flavor, I'd suggest going for the tonkotsu-style ramen which offers chili oil and black sesame oil. Service here is really fast every time Ive dined in. While it may not be the most authentic ramen out there, it's pretty solid by Ocala standards. (locals will understand this lol) The chicken karaage is not bad, featuring a satisfying crunch and a tasty sauce. The seaweed appetizer is a personal favorite. And when it comes to boba, its probably the best variety in the area. I tried the taro milk tea and the Thai tea, both of which hit the spot. While it might not be as famous as some other places, like Domu in Orlando, Zuru Ramen Boba satisfies your ramen craving right here in Ocala. It's a no-frills spot with good Asian comfort food and boba that's definitely worth checking out.

Ramen and shrimp tempura bowl. Yummy!

The food is exceptional and ramen portions generous! I love the way it is presented, and the service was stellar. The place is not huge but it is pleasantly cozy. The boba milk teas are really good too. A new favorite in my book!

This ramen shop is a great addition to the Ocala area. This is tucked away in the Market Street At Heath Brook - which is a great shopping center full of stores and restaurants and even a movie theater. When walking into Zuru - they have an array of indoor seating. Our waiter gave us menus to look over and when glancing over the restaurant - it was a must that you get a boba drink and obviously ramen. We started with appetizers from salad, seaweed salad, and spicy chicken and shrimp tempura baos. My dad and I ordered the spicy ramen with chicken, whereas my mom ordered the shrimp tempura udon. The food came out relatively fast which was surprising. My drink order however - the coconut milk tea with boba pearls was very creamy, and not overly sweet. I really love the drink options that they have from fresh fruit teas to flavored teas it is truly endless. As for the food, this place was definitely be a go to spot for ramen as the spicy ramen came in a huge bowl with the ladle spoons which were perfect for slurping up the broth. We substituted the meat option which was pork for chicken in our bowls. There was a lot of chicken and toppings which made the bowl very rich and savory and I really had no complaints. If you like spicy - definitely go with this ramen bowl. As for the apps, my dad loved the salad he devoured it down. The seaweed salad was ok, but for me the spicy chicken karaage which is a Japanese fried chicken was the star of the apps. It was very crunchy, crispy, and lighter batter. It had a different taste from your typical Southern fried chicken. The bao buns are super fluffy and soft. Since there was so much food, especially ramen - we did ask for to go containers and to our surprise the containers were these nice to go ramen bowls. I can't wait to go back and get that spicy ramen with a boba tea!

The food looks good but I think it could have been better! Did not like the Boba tea as much. The service was okay, but inside this restaurant is very nice nevertheless. The set up is pretty good.

    Sriracha sauce to give flavor!
    Beth L.

The service was great but the food is bland and tasteless. We had the potstickers and the chicken ramen. We had to ask for sriracha sauce to give it something. I am so disappointed as I was so looking forward to it.

Unfortunately for me I was looking for a brewery experience and Big Hammock is not that. They do have a good amount of local craft beers on tap which is a definite plus. They just didn't have any of their own beer. Maybe they are brewing, but if they are not, they should change the brewery in their name to brew pub because the name is definitely misleading. It is really awkward making this review, because I really did not get the full experience. I walked in, looked around, checked out the beer menu, asked if they had any of their own beers. Like others, we were just passing thru Ocala and relied on Yelp reviews. If you really read their reviews, something is suspicious. I do agree with the failed health inspection on Jan 6, 2026. First, we were the only people for lunch at noon on a Wednesday. Although, there was evidence of other people having been there (dirty dishes in 3 of the booths - never cleared off the entire time we were there) A girl about 12 years old brought us water and spilled it on the table. The water tasted weird. We had to stand up and ask for someone to take food order. Odd since we were the only customers. We ordered chicken bento boxes and shrimp tempura. Up charged for "fried rice" - something about the rice was extremely off. It was like... chewy, mushy, and flavorless. Like it was bad sushi rice with soy sauce, carrots and corn. Not fried. The chicken pieces were about 2 inch strips or cubes...? the only utensil provided was a fork and chopsticks like, how am I supposed to eat this? I wish I hadn't. Texture was like saucy rubber. Truly, disgusting. Shrimp tempura came out as shrimp teriyaki but my mom ate it anyway. I thought it was weird they left the tails on saucy shrimp. Had to use hands to eat and our napkins had been used to sop up the water spill. They never brought more. My intuition said leave as soon as I walked in but I didn't want to be difficult for my small party. I should have trusted my gut and am paying for it 12 hrs later.

I tried several other places in Ocala/The Villages area and nothing competes with this cute little restaurant nearby publix. It's not a super fancy place but the food delivers, and that matters more than anything else. The bubble teas here are not half bad either. This time, we also tried the Takoyaki and it was on point, tender and juicy on the inside! The broth of the black garlic tonkotsu is well worth the price of this dish. It's hearty and flavorful. My only setback, as a person that cooks this dish at home as well as orders it whenever possible, is that the Chashu, this time around was a little on the drier side and the cut is also on the thinner side. However, getting a Chashu to that right tender texture is really not easy to do, and since it was very tender on the first time we went to eat here, I don't fault it that much. Other than that the ramen is absolutely to die for. The host/waitress was also very cute and kept checking on us to see if we are satisfied or need anything else.
