Definitely a good spot for a quick eat. We were in and out. Food was delicious and I will definitely be back again.

I visit my friend every year and she always shows me the really good spots and tonight she recommended this place as I really love ramen but I'm also very picky cause I like a good authentic ramen with lots of flavor. I go the regular tonkotsu ramen and veggie spring rolls and I'm telling you that you can TASTE the effort they put into the broth and that light char on the meat is just delicious. The noodles were the perfect chewiness and filled me right up! The decor also was subtle but made for a very cozy spot to relax and eat. They also put the food in takeout containers so that you can take any leftovers home and not deal with having to pack it yourself inc you dine in. The service from the cashier and well as the cooks were very friendly and you can tell they care about their food! Added this place to my favorites as I definitely plan on coming again for my next years trip.

Satisfied my ramen cravings and had a few special surprises! The fried chicken appetizer was hot juicy and fresh, but the rust colored spicy mayo with sesame was fantastic. Ramen broth was creamy and soothing. Brown sugar boba milk tea was a bit sweeter than I like, but the boba were the perfect chewy consistency.

Ocala doesn't have much variety of "non chain" food spots. I am always craving some good ramen so I was extremely delighted to see that there's one in town that's close to my old place. When I'm in town visiting friends I like to go out to eat. So this was on my go to list. Staff is very attentive and greeted us when we came in. Ordering was super easy. The menu is pretty simple and straight to the point. I order some Ramen and it was pretty good. Not as fancy and full of veggies/assortments like most quality ramen places. But it was pretty good. I liked the broth & they have a little stand where you can add chili sauce. I'll go again when I'm in town because I love ramen. Just know that it's more in the basic side but still enjoyable.

Good Bowl of Ramen. The noodles were tender and the broth was rich and flavorful. Service was fast.

This is the worst ramen I've ever had and probably some of the worst food I've eaten. The chicken ramen was very bland. Their boiled chicken was tough and bland. I had to add a packet of soy sauce and it was still bland. I asked for no mushroom twice. They said it doesn't come with mushroom. I said I'm just making sure. Instead, they put black fungus in it which isn't on the menu description. The picture shows a good amount of corn and sprouts but there was perhaps a dozen corn on the bottom of the plastic bowl. I saw 3 sprouts. Seriously small 0

I ordered the seafood ramen to-go my first time trying this restaurant. However, I was told that they failed to give me a seasoning pack of some sort so my ramen was highly lacking flavor. And by highly lacking I mean that these tasted like plain noodles in some hot water with plain shrimp, calamari, and baby scallops. I will try this restaurant again and see what I was missing and update my review accordingly.

However, this ramen was just as good, and I ate it right away. This was one of the best-tasting broths; I ordered the black garlic tonkotsu. The black garlic oil was smoky, rich, smooth, and lingering. It doesn't have that "garlic breath" bite, but it stays with you. The "umami bomb" profile sets it apart from standard varieties that only an authentic ramen place can do well. It was incredible! The noodles were bouncy and chewy, and the chashu was delicate and melt-in-your-mouth. I appreciated the separated noodles from the broth to preserve its texture. This place is a gem, and I wish there were places like this at home. The restaurant was clean, service was quick and friendly, and there was plenty of parking.

Unfortunately for me I was looking for a brewery experience and Big Hammock is not that. They do have a good amount of local craft beers on tap which is a definite plus. They just didn't have any of their own beer. Maybe they are brewing, but if they are not, they should change the brewery in their name to brew pub because the name is definitely misleading. It is really awkward making this review, because I really did not get the full experience. I walked in, looked around, checked out the beer menu, asked if they had any of their own beers. Like others, we were just passing thru Ocala and relied on Yelp reviews. If you really read their reviews, something is suspicious. I do agree with the failed health inspection on Jan 6, 2026. First, we were the only people for lunch at noon on a Wednesday. Although, there was evidence of other people having been there (dirty dishes in 3 of the booths - never cleared off the entire time we were there) A girl about 12 years old brought us water and spilled it on the table. The water tasted weird. We had to stand up and ask for someone to take food order. Odd since we were the only customers. We ordered chicken bento boxes and shrimp tempura. Up charged for "fried rice" - something about the rice was extremely off. It was like... chewy, mushy, and flavorless. Like it was bad sushi rice with soy sauce, carrots and corn. Not fried. The chicken pieces were about 2 inch strips or cubes...? the only utensil provided was a fork and chopsticks like, how am I supposed to eat this? I wish I hadn't. Texture was like saucy rubber. Truly, disgusting. Shrimp tempura came out as shrimp teriyaki but my mom ate it anyway. I thought it was weird they left the tails on saucy shrimp. Had to use hands to eat and our napkins had been used to sop up the water spill. They never brought more. My intuition said leave as soon as I walked in but I didn't want to be difficult for my small party. I should have trusted my gut and am paying for it 12 hrs later.

I tried several other places in Ocala/The Villages area and nothing competes with this cute little restaurant nearby publix. It's not a super fancy place but the food delivers, and that matters more than anything else. The bubble teas here are not half bad either. This time, we also tried the Takoyaki and it was on point, tender and juicy on the inside! The broth of the black garlic tonkotsu is well worth the price of this dish. It's hearty and flavorful. My only setback, as a person that cooks this dish at home as well as orders it whenever possible, is that the Chashu, this time around was a little on the drier side and the cut is also on the thinner side. However, getting a Chashu to that right tender texture is really not easy to do, and since it was very tender on the first time we went to eat here, I don't fault it that much.
