they don't honor their online menu. Paid for sashimi lunch no California roll.
    Wendy B.

My mom lives in Ocala. So when I come to visit her, I rely on Yelp for suggestions and ideas. I had to call as their online menu was not allowing ordering, they gave me their new address and I submitted to Yelp for update. On their online menu and they have lunch specials on Saturday. I opted for the sashimi lunch special which was sashimi, California roll and soup or salad. I ordered the soup. I ordered it then left to pick it up. I checked Before I left the parking lot (but already in my car) There was no California roll just the pieces of sashimi. I go back in the restaurant and I said there is supposed to be a California roll with this. She said no roll with sashimi, only sushi lunch has the California roll. I said I ordered it off of your new website and supposed to have a California roll. She said yes that's a mistake. We have to update it and then she hand me a menu where she crossed off the free California roll. If somebody orders it from your website and it said that it came with a California roll. they should've honored it. They did not. I had to pay for the California roll that was supposed to be included in my lunch special. 2 pieces of the sashimi I threw out due to their color. It was a nice presentation but I wanted what I ordered and felt this was deceiving

Daughter, Granddaughter and I went for a special dinner last weekend. We were greeted as if it was a 4 star establishment, the server, never was off tract thru the whole dinner. She was gracious, knowledgeable, seemed to understand our "wants". We had assorted food, daughter had 2 rolls, nicely presented... but I was apprehensive about the sanitation of the silk flowers, but thatvsaid both rolls well made and she enjoyed them. Granddaughter had a sweet potato roll, as she is allergic to seafood, and said it was delicious. She also had the steak hibachi. The steak was on point , rice well cooked and she had lunch for the next day. I had scallops and shrimp hibachi . I usually say I need more sauce! This sauce was thick, warm and delicious but ... for me, too much of it! This little place is in a shopping center and not well known. We'll be back....

I came here last Sunday and ordered the chirashi bowls and Hamachi kama. Being from out of town, here in Ocala, Florida for business, I was so grateful for the warm and welcoming atmosphere. The owner was exceptionally kind and friendly, and the hostess was equally as lovely. I enjoyed it so much that I came back twice for lunch, savoring the Akita sushi roll and chicken teriyaki. The food was not only delicious, but the service was outstanding. I felt truly cared for. I'll definitely return whenever I'm in town. Highly recommend this place for both the food and the hospitality!

Had to run errands at the plaza and looking for a quick bite. It was off meal hours so it was not packed, which was nice! There was plenty of staff on hand and the service was great. The food was good and I really liked the Coconut Curry Soup with Shrimp!

We love this place! It's a great little hole in the wall sushi place. Excellent food, really nice and quick servers, and cheaply priced!

This is our favorite sushi place in town. It's a little hole in the wall with excellent flavors, big portions, and cheap prices. Service is great as well!

The service was amazing. Very attentive and helpful. Big sushi eater and the food was fresh/delicious. We had the Tuna Tataki for appetizer and ate so quickly I didn't get a photo. We had the Fire Tuna Roll and the Naruto Roll. I don't eat rice and to find sushi that accommodate is hard, but this place exceeded. Now I have a sushi go to when I'm visiting my parents. This is a definite must go for Ocala!!!

Me and my girlfriend visited Akita last night, the food was so delicious, and fish is fresh enough. The service was great as well. We will be back .

I had Thai on one visit and sushi on the other. The Thai was decent. It didn't have a lot of spice for medium which I ordered to be on the safe side. Probably should have went with medium plus or hot. The sushi was very good. I don't know how much competition they have in Ocala but I could definitely see this being a regular spot if I lived in Ocala. Service was fine, I've got no complaints there. The one very memorable negative thing I noticed on both visits was they were absolutely blasting the AC on both visits when it wasn't anywhere near scorching outside. The first time I had on short sleeves and was near the edge of my comfort level- I nearly went back out to my rental to get a hoodie. The second time was later in the evening and it had cooled off a lot outside but the air conditioning was still working like the restaurant was on the planet Venus. Like the knob was on 11 like the amplifiers on Spinal Tap. Fortunately I was dressed appropriately this time but I did hear a large table of older ladies complain about it multiple times before bringing it to the attention of the server. Resolvable temperature concerns aside, I'd recommend the sushi here and give the Thai a second chance as well.

Edo Sushi & Japanese Steakhouse -- A Missed Opportunity for Authenticity…read more Edo Sushi & Japanese Steakhouse lands at 2 out of 5 stars, and honestly, that feels generous only because the service itself was perfectly fine. The team was polite and efficient, but the overall experience leans far closer to Japanese fast food than the immersive Asian dining atmosphere the name suggests. The biggest disappointment came from the stir‑fried noodles. The flavor told the whole story: it tasted like a massive batch had been pre‑cooked earlier in the day, with staff simply tossing in more noodles as orders came in. The result was bland, under‑seasoned, and lacking the freshness you expect from a hibachi‑style dish. Even worse, the protein portion was minimal -- in my case, the chicken felt more like an afterthought than a feature of the meal. For a restaurant positioned as a Japanese steakhouse, the experience should feel intentional, flavorful, and crafted to order. Instead, it felt rushed, generic, and disconnected from the quality you'd expect at this price point. There's potential here, but until the kitchen elevates its approach and embraces true made‑to‑order cooking, Edo Sushi & Japanese Steakhouse will continue to feel like a fast‑food interpretation of what should be a richer, more authentic dining experience.

Almost immediately following my order, the salad came out. It was great, cold, and crisp. They loaded on the ginger dressing, which I was happy about. I rolled the dice on their $9.95 lunch special -- two rolls and soup or salad. Naturally, I chose the spicy tuna and shrimp tempura rolls with onion soup, because balance. Now, let's talk value. For under ten bucks, you get sushi, soup, and a moment of peace -- that's already a win in this economy. The flavor was solid, ingredients were fresh, but the rolls themselves were a bit on the fun-sized side. A little more rice wouldn't hurt -- not asking for sumo rolls, just something more substantial than a sushi suggestion. Service was quick, friendly, and didn't involve anyone saying "we're out of that," which in itself is a minor miracle these days. Bottom line: Aki Sushi won't blow your mind, but it won't break your wallet either. Great for a quick fix when you're craving sushi and a break from adulting.
