First time at Sushi Bistro was on 12/13/24. My wife got a couple sushi rolls but I can't remember what they were. I tried them and they were alright. My wife agreed- solid but not spectacular. I got the steak hibachi and I was really happy with it. Came back on Christmas Day with our kids and my mom and we all ordered hibachi dinners. Super solid, good hibachis!! Happy New Year! read more

I am done with this place. I ordered some sushi and crab Rangoon (among a couple of other dishes) to go tonight. I went and picked up. Got home and there was no soy sauce, no wasabi and no sauce for the crab Rangoon. I called to complain and the woman didn't even offer an apology...instead she kept asking me what I ordered, she repeatedly raised her voice at me, and told me that I would have to drive back (6 miles) if I wanted that sauce. Then she simply hung up on me. I absolutely hate it when somebody makes a mistake but refuses to own their mistake and try to make it right...and, at the very least, that includes an apology. This is the third time in a row that I have had some problem with my order at Sushi Bistro...and my last. They obviously don't give two sh*ts about the quality of their service and don't have the decency to own their mistakes and try to do better. read more

Food and Selection on menu was just right. I don't eat sushi. So nice they had a good choice of other dishes. I had chicken hibachi. It was cooked perfectly and was delicious. I wish they had coffee. The Waitress was awesome. We had about 12 people for a birthday party. She was patient professional and efficient. The ambience of the place is nice. Fits in with downtown Ocala nicely. Not good. Have not been in a couple years and should have kept the streak going The pot stickers were ok and the highlight of the dinner. Ordered a roll, Dragon Roll, and it was just bad. First it came Out so fast you know it was premade. Also it was wet so they must have made it probably the day before then wrapped it in plastic wrap and put it in the fridge . This was our second visit here in Downtown Ocala at this restaurant. Our first visit we had mistakenly came very close to close so we didn't have time to review and take pictures. Our first visit was pleasant so we were back for round two. Upon walking into to the establishment we were greeted immediately and promptly seated. The lighting is dimly lit and perfect for a more romantic date night dinner. Our drink orders were taken upon being seated and returned to us within minutes. We looked over the menu and were checked on a couple of times while we made decisions. When we ordered the waitress did have to come back and clarify twice what rolls we ordered which may have been solved by her writing them down instead of trying to remember them. But she was very friendly so we didn't mind repeating the order. The sushi rolls arrived back at our table in around 15 minutes. They were beautifully made. Every roll we ordered tasted fresh and delicious. This is one of our favorite Ocala sushi spots to visit and we love its location in the downtown square. There was music and a vendor even in the square which made the surrounding atmosphere even more enjoyable. read more

If the servers had been friendly, this could have been a good review. The two sushi rolls we got there were good, but we felt as though we were bothering the servers if we asked for the basics. It was later at night around 9 but if a business is open, be friendly. We won't return to this location unless we hear they started being nicer. read more

My visiting son and very picky 11 year old granddaughter ordered the bento boxes chicken teriyaki and my vegan son the tofu bento. I was amazed she ate most of it. Both enjoyed their food. I had vegetable tempura. It was the best I ever had. The portions were generous , the staff attentive, service was quite quick. So good I've signed up with Uber eats and have had more delivered ! I have been to a lot of really good Sushi/Hibachi restaurants all across the eastern half of the United States, but this one outshines them all! To begin, their hot tea is absolutely perfect in every way-nice and smooth and full of flavor. Their crab rangoon is delightful and the dipping sauce was a lovely touch. Their clear/onion soup is the absolute best I have ever tasted. Their shrimp and scallops hibachi dinner is a whole new level of phenomenal. My husband's combination fried rice was delectable. To top it off, their portions are perfect and their prices are better than any restaurant I have eaten in over the past year. Solid sushi rec on the square in Ocala. I come here a few times a year when I'm in town to play a gig, and I'm usually happy. The service is quick and the menu is big enough to accommodate sushi people and non sushi people. The food usually tastes good although my little salmon roe one-off this most recent time tasted a little fishier than I was expecting especially after the super fresh salmon roe I had at If It Is at the beginning of the week. But the rolls were great as usual. Also I think the soups are free once you order a roll or two. I usually get onion soup which I really like. It has crispy bits in it. My friend/colleague had ordered the chicken tempura not realizing it was gonna be a plate of completely fried food including the veggies so that's a thing you should know if you are tempura-curious. read more

No, no, no, no. Just don't. This place has gone to complete crap over the past year. Last year, this place was decent. Not great, but certainly not terrible. This year, they have managed to break firmly into terrible classification. My wife and I love walking downtown around the square. We walk, we people watch, and we almost always grab something to eat. We have probably eaten here 6-8 times in the past 12 months. It's always been just good enough to keep us coming back. After our most recent visit, we will NEVER be back. From the moment we walked in, we knew something wasn't right. The place had that dirty restaurant smell. The one that Gordon Ramsey says assaults your sense of smell upon entry, but it's almost always due to stinky dirty carpet. Side point, carpet is just a bad idea for a restaurant. Unfortunately, this place has no carpet, so the smell is something deeper. The server was generally very unpleasant, and acted as if we were ordering too slow. The order should be simple. About 10 minutes later and another person comes to take our order. We explained that we'd already ordered. Easy enough. Then came the food. Sadly it was inedible. It was salty. It was oily. The vegetables did not feel fresh. And the food that should have been served hot was cold and the food that should have been served cold ( salad) was warm, as if it had been sitting under a kitchen lamp. There are a few nice options around the square, this used to be one of them it no longer is. And just know that this place has been going down hill all year, or we'd give them another try. Just don't. Save your money. Save your stomach. Save your pallet. No no no... just don't go. read more

Our food LOOKED amazing! However the taste was HORRIBLE! We ordered the rainbow roll, Carlo roll, fried oyster roll, and the slap ya mama roll. The rainbow and Carlo rolls were delicious but the slap ya mama smelled and tasted extremely spoiled. The oyster roll was also very smelly and tasted like it had spoiled as well. Nice central location, people are kurt/blunt. Pretty place however. What selections they have are good. Sushi is fresh, but not a big roll variety. Great place to get sushi for a casual lunch. This is my second time going to sushi bistro and both times I went I was really satisfied with the quality of the food and sushi that I received. I ordered the Yummy Roll this time and am mad I forgot to take a picture, it was beautiful. This is not a place to go if you don't have a lot of time to sit down and eat. Food takes quite a bit of time to come out to you and service can be slow. Additionally, wait staff were a bit awkward this time, but I think that was because of the larger group I was in. Some of the members of my group mentioned that their tuna was extra spicy and hibachi vegetables a little too salty, but I did not notice this in my dishes either time. read more

The ambiance is dim and relaxing, but the conversation is easily heard from table to table. The music is a little loud, but perhaps they're trying to compensate for the echo of customers voices. Unbelievable sushi...best I've had in a long time

I've been searching for a decent sushi spot since moving to Ocala & man am I upset that I've driven past this place for so long without visiting. I went during the lunch & order the steak hibachi, as well as, a shrimp tempura roll. The noodles with the hibachi platter were perfectly aldente in my opinion, rice was very flavorful, the steak was tender, vegetables were delicious, the miso soup had tofu in it which I have never had & must admit I like, and lastly the tempura roll....That was the best tempura roll I've had in 9 states. Very fresh & fulfilling quantity for the price. Staff was pleasant, COVID measures are in affect, and the establishment is clean. I'm truly a fan of this establishment & look forward to doing more business with them in the future. read more

This restaurant is so beautiful and the food is so good but I have to give it a 2 stars because every single time I've been here the staff is very rude. Yesterday our waitress slammed our chop sticks down and after she brought us our food never came back. We were out of drinks and needed some sauce so we didn't even get to eat all the food we ordered until we got home. Of course though I will keep eating here because the food is amazing but the staff makes us always feel very unwelcomed :( read more

As I was waiting I saw a customer come in and said he had the wrong order and he inspected it very carefully, even opening the lid to the food to say he did not order that food. Absolutely LOVE their specialty rolls here!! They have a lot of unique rolls you can't get anywhere else AND the prices are fairly reasonable. The Carlo Roll, Slap Your Momma Roll, Mermaid Roll and Spicy Country Roll are my top 4 favorite rolls there. The chicken or salmon katsu is always cooked just right and the hibachi vegetables are really tastey also. They don't have the hibachi tables to sit at for "the show" but they do have a couple TVs just incase you lack a personality and can't seem to carry on a conversation with your guests :) and the place is nicely decorated and has a sort of authentic vibe to it. read more

This is probably one of the few sushi places in Ocala. The size of the rolls are very generous and the tuna was exceptionally fresh. The price was fantastic however the miso soup was severely watered down. I also think the service could have been friendlier but it was a severely rainy Friday on 4th of July weekend and that probably put a damper on their traffic and profits. Overall still better than a lot of places that I've frequented in South Florida. read more
