I am writing to update our review from 1 to 3 stars. Although we did have to do a little demo work ourselves to investigate why our basement was still getting water into it after the waterprofing system install, busy dog did come back out a week or so later and fixed the problem free of charge. Therefore, I am increasing the rating to a 3 star. Hoping the waterproofing system saves us from any basement flooding in the future. Christine from the office was very responsive. I had BusyDog install, many years ago, 2 battery backup pump systems which have been working very well. I recently had maintenance on them, which I do occasionally prior to Spring season. It's peace of mind, The one-year time I didn't we got 6+ inches of rain and a pump went out. (Lesson learned). Long and short, they come in with respect for the homeowners house, take their time and run-through a checklist if tests and/or observations. Today I had my annual service for the water removal sump pump system in my basement. The service was performed by a technician named Archie. Every year when people who own their own homes have to pay for servicing the systems on oil burners, water heaters, sump pumps, whatever.......the bill is something we get annoyed about having to pay. I can honestly say I no longer feel that way about this particular yearly service fee. Archie does such a thorough job and always shows me what he found (such as tree roots that were growing into the pumping system that would have caused problems) I am pleased that Archie is my technician for the system. I always give credit where it's due because it's as important as giving negative feedback when it's warranted. Consumers have to be honest with reviews so people know who to call and who not to call. When is a guarantee not a guarantee? When you use Busy Dog. We spent $10K on a system that was supposed to keep our basement dry last summer. I asked the sales rep, "so we could theoretically put carpet down there and not have a problem?" She said, "absolutely." If it didn't, they said they'd come back to fix it. We still got water. They told us we just had to get a section of the floor taken up and the foundation repointed. For $800. We did. We still got water. Now they're telling us we need a repour. How much? Another $10K. Lots of excuses. "In 99.9% of cases, it works." "These old basements are just not made like the new houses." "It's dry around the perimeter where the drains are." "It's just condensation." "The floor is porous." As if they didn't know the age of the house or that the floor was porous when they made that guarantee. As if we have the only old basement in New England. Today I handled the representative who came to our house because my husband wasn't home. He kept saying, "I've been taking to your husband about this." There is no possibility he has mentioned to my husband that we will have to put in over twice the amount of money they originally quoted us to solve this problem. We told them we wanted our basement to be a useable space. They told us they could deliver. They didn't, and now they're continuing to fleece us. What would happen if we got a repour and we still got water? How long could they keep squeezing us? Busy Dog needs to make this right, right now. Just had our annual service. The tech was knowledgeable and hopefully fixed our issue - our smaller backup pump keeps beeping even when we don't lose power. We have a 3/4 hp pump so it shouldn't be getting overwhelmed. We'll see! We are still waiting for someone to come fix our driveway where a strip was dug out after our second pump was installed. We have exposed gravel in the driveway that should have been sealed a long time ago. Other than those two things we've been happy with our system recently. read more

Cleaned up all his tools & prepped the paperwork. Before he left he made sure I knew how to reset the system if the power ever went out, showed me what to watch for to ensure everything is working. Our annual French drain and pump inspection was last week. Zaven was the technician. He was professional and explained his findings to me and my wife. A battery back-up was found to be malfunctioning. He replaced this and the battery. In order to complete the replacement, he had to go out for parts and return to finish the job. We were happy that he could get it done the same day. This was the first year that I was grateful for the service call. We would not have noticed that the battery back-up was not working without this service. read more

Everyone has a bad day, but the explanation offered does not cover the lack of return phone calls when I called several times on the day of service followed by an angry phone call from someone at 8 p.m. at night. I used Basement Technologies to install a whole trek and pump system in my basement almost 20 years ago and the system has functioned great. Last year I had to finally replace the pump and upgrade the system finally as it started to fail. When it started to fail during a real bad rain storm last summer they came out within hours to fix things and replace things so my finished basement wouldn't get ruined. This was on a Sunday night mind you. The response was great. I do have them service pretty much every year to keep things in top shape. Always professional. I wish it wasn't as expensive though. That would be my only negative, but the rest of the service makes up for it. Truly, without these guys my basement would be a disaster. read more
