I got a quote yesterday to remove a compact freeze from Cody Littlefield for $18. Town refuse sticker for this is $20. He confirmed the item would be picked up between 1-3 pm. That never happened. A driver called me and told me the item could not be picked up for that price and it would cost a lot more than that. Cody never replied back to several of my text messages on this matter. Very poor communication, wasted a lot of my time, and I highly recommend not to use this company for your junk removal. read more

You guys were actually awful. I was trying to get a chair removed from our apartment. The time block was for Tuesday from 5:30-7:30 pm. That time block came and went. Nobody texted, nobody called, and no one contacted me. I had to call many times and got the run around. Then you rescheduled to Wednesday. Once again, your time block came and went and no contact. After the death of a loved one, I had 1-800-Got Junk come out to get a quote on removing some furniture. The quote was way too high. I had them take a dresser & a credenza which was well over $400. I noticed on the receipt, a charge for electronics. I called the local billing number- no answer after 20 rings & no answering machine. I called the main customer service number & they spoke to the local franchisee who said it was because of the light in the credenza, which actually didn't have a light. So the $5.00 charge won't be reversed. It's ridiculous. Buyer beware of the high prices, high pressure tactics & extra charges. I'll never use them again. read more

The work was done well, but they overcharged on the bill in a way that wasn't revealed until received the emailed receipt. They overcharged by at least $2496.00, billing for 4 full truck loads not two and both for single items and volume in violation of the pricing terms and quote at start of work. Also Apparently they have a policy of refusing cash tips, pushing for a credit card only tip with 10%, 15%, 20% presets. I'd expected to tip $50-$100 a worker not over $800 for two guys. (Update, this policy doesn't exist according to the manager so don't let yourself be tricked this way.) I'm writing this while having been on hold for over an hour and a half to talk to customer support trying to fix the charges, so the claim of 24/7 customer support is complete bunk. (Update: I ended up talking to the 24/7 customer support three times, the last told me this was a failed transfer issue because the franchise's office was closed for the day, all progress was made through discussion and negotiation with the driver and their manager, never customer support.) This has been a disappointment, and I'm hoping with quick remedy not a debacle, but this support experience isn't reassuring. (Update) I have been refunded 3,094.65 in overcharges. There may still be additional items that could be looked at more closely, but the core issue of being billed for 4 trucks when only two visited the property has been resolved. Note that the manager claimed to be able to validate my side of the story with GPS tracking information of the trucks. This may be useful to know if you're in the midst of a dispute with them. read more

I have used the service several times. I have mixed reviews. The people who show up at your door are courteous and very professional. Upfront with the pricing which is close to consistent once it all is loaded up. I would say the price seems high, however, I find it to be comparable with similar services in the area which I have used since. Junk removal is expensive. My complaint is with the scheduling. The last time I used the service, the appointment was a no-show. I called customer service, they were apologetic and rescheduled me for two days later. That second timeslot came and went, and I never received a phone call. When I called the company to look into it, I was told that it was my fault, that it was showing I canceled that appointment. This was obviously not true. Instead of fitting me in for that same day, they insisted I make a third appointment for a different day. I decided to go with a different company. For the prices they charge, they should be offering better customer service. read more

We stood outside, the driver quoted me about &126 plus extra for anything that plugs in 3items, small. Took them 15-20 minutes. They came into the house, took my credit card, didn't show me the charge. Said I would receive an email copy. Which I presumed to be ok since I have to use a special decide to read. They left, my credit card company called me alerting me to an unusually high charge of $ 768. I called and sent an email to the general manager. Got no where. I told him I felt they took advantage and saw an older women in a big house who is classified as legally blind. I never offered me paperwork. They never showed me paperwork. I never signed anything with them. I felt like it was just one big scam. If I could've found somebody truck to take these over to Goodwill, I would've done that. They showed up in-between the window of time that they gave me and then looked at the material and TRIPLED the price. Because it was "construction" material. I had described exactly what was to be taken to the operator and they knew what was going in the truck and quoted me $450. The first appointment was canceled by the company and rebooked for the following day. The guys who work for the company were awesome - professional, courteous and friendly - and they were the only positive thing I can say about this. HOWEVER, because we were in a hurry, we were forced to use 800-got-junk and what a mistake! We had them take one couch, one small desk top (only the top) and two small kitchen chairs. We had put everything outside on the porch - the two guys had to go down 4 stairs and carry the furniture may 20 feet. And the price? With tip (which in itself is awkward - they stand over you and watch that screen) it was about $531!!!!!! I like the guys very much but a $48 tip for 15 minutes work? And all the talk about recycling? Well all we were told was that they would have to cut about the couch and that's why it was so expensive. I asked about recycling but all he talked about was cutting things up and taking it to the dump. Nothing was dump-ready, everything could have been recycled. So disappointed. We had gotten other estimates which varied from $285 to $350 but they were available one day later than we needed to be out of the apartment, so we took a chance with 800. Big mistake and I would never recommend them or use them again. The fact that you can't get an estimate beforehand is ridiculous - had we known it was in the $500 range, NEVER would we have used them. It was similar pricing to other options and they said it was a conservative estimate so the price should be less. Had 1800 got junk come last saturday to remove a few pieces of furniture. Was up sold extra $200 on arrival over the phone estimate. They damaged property at the residence so we filed a claim. Was told some "manager" would reach out in 24 hours. Due to labor day it would be tuesday. It's now Thursday and no "manager" has called us. Ive made 8-9 calls, speaking with various service staff who cannot connect me with a "manager" so they put the issue and claim in que for a "manager" to respond. So far no results. I've spoken with many service staff who all are extremely limited and can't seem to persuade some "manager" to do their job. NO response. I'm 73 and still working and don't have time for this absurd process of being ignored. I'm helping my 94 year old mom who is now in a nursing home and cannot handle this due to her demenita. Very poor communication with this company. I explained to the person in charge of scheduling that I would be moving in a month or two and wanted an estimate of how much it would cost to remove some items from my apartment. A time frame of between 5 and 7 was given for someone to come out due to my work schedule. I got a call at 3:18 that someone would be arriving in 25 minutes. I called to leave a message that this time frame would not work and expected them to honor the time frame we had agreed upon. They never showed so I called back and got apologies because of a moving issue With another client. I told them that the least they could have done was call and let me know not just no show. Arranged for next day. Same story- someone called a little after 3 saying they would be here in 25 minutes. Finally made a connection for the correct time frame and was waiting for the crew when I received another call from someone else who informed me that they were canceling because they don't come out to do estimates without some removal at the time. They provided a 2 hour window for pick up...so far so good. 1 hour before the beginning of the window they called and narrowed it down to the 2nd hour of the 2 hour slot. No one showed...finally called them they said they were not going to be able to make it. Decided not to risk an unreliable engagement with 1-800-GOT-JUNK. They offered to re-schedule but the point of scheduling with them was that scheduling was supposed to be precise...My time is valuable too... We got an independent provider to come out the very next morning and remove everything for 1/2 the price that 1-800-GOT-JUNK was going to charge. Crew called twice to let me know they were coming, were prompt, courteous and efficient. For this visit, we were disposing of a large quantity of yard waste (branches, brush) that was more than we could process through curbside pickup. Since GotJunk charges by volume, not by (e.g.) weight or time, this probably, to be honest, wasn't the most efficient or cost-effective use of their services -- but that's our fault, if anyone's, not theirs; the pricing schedule was clearly explained to us up front before any work was done and we agreed to it. In the past, I've used GotJunk to clean out an apartment of nine years of accumulated cruft prior to a cross-country move and in *that* instance they were absolute lifesavers, again, because they showed up right on time, were fast, efficient, and cheerful. read more

I'm moving to Florida and was getting rid of furniture I was tired of lugging around and didn't have time to post on craigslist and hope someone wanted it or showed up for it. I got rid of a futon with mattress, 3 end tables, a small desk, 2 side chairs and 5 milk crates full of vinyl records (I wanted to be a DJ when I was younger). Booked a same day appt online, and the gentlemen called me to say they would be there in 1 1/2 hrs. 1 hour and 15 minutes later got another call that they were out front. Showed the 2 polite gentlemen where everything was. Some items on the 3rd floor, and some in the basement. Lets just say they were done in 20-30 minutes. It was the best $253.00 I ever spent.
