1800gotnothing. I was scheduled for a pickup on 7/28 but they overscheduled and could not make it. So they gave me a new pick window for 10-12 on 7/29. When they didn't call at 10 to give me an ETA, I texted the original driver who gave me his manager's number and I texted him. This is what he said: " Yes the truck team members tried reaching out to you but received no response. So they proceeded with their next jobs." Thing is I received no text, missed call, voice mail or email. This was the manager's reply: "Would you like a picture of the call log to show that they called." Unbelievable. What BS and so unprofessional. So this guy assigns another team to come NLT than noon. By then, I was done with them and hired another hauler who arrived before noon and took my stuff. I just got a violation from the District of Columbia Public Works dept for $1000-my boxes wound up being left in front of a dumpster in a vacant lot in NW DC. I am going to be charged $1000 for violating their sanitation codes. I haven't been to DC in years, much less to dump my boxes. When the local franchise manager returned my call and told me that there no way that their trucks dropped anything off in Northwest DC. The franchise has NO explanation of how my boxes wound up there. Two levels of management were of no help. Customer service on the corporate level is working with me to get this resolved. What has usually been a great experience with this company is turning into a poop show. I am less than pleased with the local franchise's responses to this. The 2 employees arrived past the 2-hr block time, and clearly didn't want to work today. They baled at even removing my bed and mattress and box spring even after I cleared the path to the door. I used these people once before, they are polite, professional and swift. Today I had 8 2 X 8 ' pine studs, two plaster boards, and one half of a plaster board with pine studs attached and was charged 925. These items had to be removed ASAP according to my building, so I had little choice and no time to shop. They were swift, polite and professional, however, the price was a bit much for such a small load. I did let them know before hand what was to be moved but don't remember if I requested a quote or not. I have used this service mutiple times. Theres a saying, fool me once- shame one you...twice, shame one me. The most recent job was really the straw that broke the camels back. The crew was making room for my junk by rearranging items in the truck (which included busting up a bunch pf glass with a hammer). I didn't notice this myself as i was i was around the corner at the atm (bait and switch pricing with "non negotiable cash tip"). My wife came out ans saw them busting up glass because the noise was alarming. I wish i had noticef the mess left, but the truck was parked over it. I have glass literally all over my ribbon style driveway (glass on the concrete and in the grass in between). Huge glass shards plus tons of small flakes littered everywhere.) We get a call around 12:50 from the drivers asking what they were picking up and that they'd call us when they were 15 minutes away. We never heard from anyone. These guys are awesome. We had a weekend to clean out a family member's townhome. On Friday evening we decided we needed help. We called on Friday night a 6:00 pm. They showed up on Saturday at 10:30, exactly on time, and in the freezing rain hauled off everything that we need removed for a really reasonable price, which was exactly the amount they quoted. For months, 1-800-Got-Junk had been providing our non-profit organization, Velocity of Books with book donations from individuals purging books. This past Monday 1-800-Got-Junk came to our rescue! Velocity of Books needed remainder books picked up after a book sale and brought to a sorting facility an hour away. I emailed them just after 6:00am on a Monday morning and by 8:19am, I was told that they were going to be able to pick up the books and that they weren't going to charge our charity. This was an especially big deal, as the library which had the books that needed to be picked up, had events planned the same day, so they had to get the books out. If the books were not pulled out, this would have hurt the libraries reputation with the community and Velocity of Books reputation with a major donors and all those connected with this donor. 1-800-Got-Junk is my go to company! read more

The scheduling and actual removal of items were great, but at no time when I was scheduling was I told that removing a full-sized mattress, headboard, and box spring would cost $239. The schedulers were good at calling both the day before and the day of to confirm my appointment time, but the first time I heard of any charge at all was when the servicepeople arrived. They showed me a chart with a list of rates, but this was never shown to me when I made the initial appointment, nor was it even mentioned by any of the schedulers who called to confirm. I would think that any business or service needs to provide information about their pricing beforehand so that customers can make informed decisions. read more

I contacted the 800 number and set up an appointment. I received two phone calls from a local manager to confirm my appointment date and time. I never received a phone call or a voicemail on the date of service as I was promised 30 minutes in advance and the crew never showed up. When I called them back the following day to the main number I explained the situation and the operator was astounded that it happened that way. She got a hold of the manager who promised to rectify the problem and then I was asked what they could do to help me and I asked for the manager to call me. She promised me that the manager would call me to work out the service call and it has now been four days and I have yet to receive a phone call. They failed to call, and failed to show up, end of story. I refuse to do business with them. Update: it has now been 5 days since I called them back and was promised a phone call from the local manager. Still no contact at all. How do they stay in business with a work ethic like this. I scheduled a pick up time of Saturday between 11am and 1 pm. The 2 gentlemen arrived at 1:10 pm but they had called and said they would be arriving towards the end of the pick up time. They arrived with a 3/4 full truck so my junk could not be loaded into the truck. I was told that they would be back at 8 am on Monday but I needed to schedule this on line or call. I tried to get the 8 am slot but it was already filled. I tried calling the company but 10 am was the earliest slot available. They arrived at 10:30 which was fine and loaded up the junk. However, I thought they were to leave the area swept and in general cleaned up. This didn't happen and considering the high cost of using them, this was a poor experience. I am very disappointed in their service, in their ability to provide a quality usage and their poor response to an issue created by them. read more

These guys will pick up your junk...and charge you a ridiculous amount of money to cart it away. Where they really get you is that they don't give you the price until they arrive and you're pretty much over a barrel in needing their services. I was moving and had...literally...a queen mattress and box spring, 2 small cabinets (like, the kind you buy at Target for $100), 3 large plastic flower pots (with potting soil from last year), a small coffee table, and a 7' x 7' area rug. They parked their truck...threw my stuff over the balcony railing into the dump truck below..it took all of 10-15 minutes tops..and handed me a bill of over $700. Seriously. They guys were nice and friendly...no problem there, but I was in complete shock at the price...it was just truly ridiculous. I would never use these guys again....not ever. read more

I'm getting ready to move and I was stunned at the amount of junk and crap that had accumulated over the years. It would take multiple dump runs to get it out. Each dump run is about an hour round trip plus the dump site time and the dump fee. This company came quickly, within the promised time, and made short work of a miserable task. They seem cognizant of environmental issues, such as not taking old paint cans with paint still in them, because that needs a special disposal method, and they also used some sort of absorbent for some leaking gack. The only down side is that the price seems a bit steep, but when you consider consider personal time and fees to go to the dump, I guess it's reasonable. The two crew members, Dayshawn and Alex, are good representatives for this company. You don't need this company if you don't have a lot of stuff, but for what I had to accomplish, they hit the mark. Okay, if you don't want to get dirty and don't want to deal with it, then go ahead and use these people. You will pay a hefty premium for just 16 cubic yards of trash, and it fills up quick. You've seen the show and you've seen their trucks. They aren't that big, especially if you're doing a horder house. But they will gladly do all the dirty work. Now, make sure when setting up an appointment that they BRING ENOUGH PEOPLE. Otherwise, they will complain of time constraints for doing an 8 person job with just 2 people and warn you with a 170$ an hour surcharge. Very lame. Now if you have enough help, are able bodied and don't mind a little elbow grease, it's much better to rent a 20/30 yard dumpster for a week or so and start throwing out the garbage YOURSELVES and pay half the cost. It cost me over a 1000 dollars worth of one and 3/8s of a 16 cubic yard truck versus 400 dollars for a full 20 yard dumpster for a week. You do the math. Again, if you don't like to get all icky and don't want to work, then these guys should be at the top of your list. If you don't mind working, get a dumpster. read more

I had to get rid of a broken bed, boxspring and mattress and really had no one to help me and no idea where to dispose of it so I called 1-800-GOT-JUNK. Customer service was very helpful and quoted me a price over the phone that was a little steep but I was desperate to get rid of this furniture so I just went with it. I was able to request a time slot that worked for me (early morning) and received confirmation the day before. The day of the removal I got a call about an hour or so ahead of time letting me know when they would arrive. The two gentlemen arrived on time and were friendly and professional. There was one minor snafu, one of the guys didn't realize he had mud on his shoes and accidently tracked it onto my carpet! He was apologetic and ended up giving me a discount so that was very nice. The process was easy and they were in and out of my high rise apartment in about 30 minutes. I would have given them a lower star rating if they had one. I had a very stressful few weeks and one of the things I needed to do was clean out my uncles house after he lived there for 50 years. He had falling ill and was now living in a assisted living home and we had no idea how bad his house had become. I had cleaned a lot of the trash out and had two rooms filled with bags of old clothes and gadgets all or most in contractor bags. I called 1-800-got-junk and explained what I had and I had used them before and was sure it was at least one truck full and maybe more they quoted a price of 750 dollars or a bout that for a full truck. I agreed and we made an appointment for a Tuesday between 1 and 4 pm. The they said they would call 30 minutes before they came and at 12:30 I received a call that they would be here closer to 4 pm and ask if that was ok I said sure. They arrived at 4:15 and the crew came in and I showed them the two piles one was all clothes in big green bags the other was clothes shoes and all kinds of nic-naks and gadgets and some house hold trash. and a mattress the room was a mess and had a bad smell but the items they were taking are all bagged and staked at the the door or outside on the deck. They gave me an estimate before they even saw the two rooms of $1000 when I said the person on the phone said it was 750 for a full truck they argued that that did not apply to this area. I called the main number and they soon agreed to do it for $750 I agreed and they then stood on the deck and talked for close to 20 mins and came and told they would not be doing the job and left. I called college hunks and they showed up on time and quoted me about $500 and then in less then 30 minutes removed all the trash cleaned up the items on the floor and took the mattress and presented me with a bill for under $500 no issues and no delay and on time and faster then the time it took got junk to fight over doing the job. I called 1800GotJunk to pull up and remove wall-to-wall carpet. Technicians arrived on time and were very nice but had no idea they were going to have to pull up the carpet, even though I made that point explicitly to the dispatcher. The price was high but the kicker was, they had never pulled up a rug before and did not have the tools but they were game to try! No thanks. I talked to the dispatcher who was nice and polite but adamant that they don't pull up rugs, only take them away, having already been pulled up.. The website claims: "When we arrive, just point to the carpet you want removed and we'll provide you with an up-front, all-inclusive price." But they don't really explain what "all-inclusive" means. I took off work for nothing, I thought...but then I called Mister Trash and they pulled up and removed the carpet within the hour. read more

They tried to convince me I had different types of trash that would all be priced differently. $549 to take a small hot tub that had already been cut into pieces small enough for one person to carry. I explained that I could haul the hot tub to the curb and put it in a bagster and have it taken away for $175. After calling his supervisor and saying "the customer is price sensitive", he said they wouldn't come down on the price. I said no thank you and we went our separate ways.
