Do not use this company!! I had an appointment between 5 and 7 PM on July 31. I called to confirm and when I spoke with the contact I asked if it could be scheduled closer to 7 PM. He said no problem. He called later and said they would be running late. Then at 8 pm he called to say they wouldn't be coming at all. He actually tried to make it sound like it was my fault they weren't going to show up -- he said that because I asked for them to arrive close to 7 they went ahead and scheduled other work, implying it was my fault. I had piled a lot of garbage on my lawn to be hauled off and the next day I would be leaving so this was a problem. Finally after pitching a fit with someone at their customer service they said they would get another truck in Rockville and come to the house but it would be at 9 pm. I told them to forget as by that point I had found another provider (Get Rid of It). It was very aggravating to say nothing of the person trying to make it sound like it was my fault. Do not trust the appointment window time. Nor their estimates. We worked with 1 800 Got Junk once prior whereas they provided an estimate and by the time they loaded the truck the price was much higher. They already had it loaded so at that point your stuck! The second time we had a "scheduled" pick up between 6 and 8pm. They called 30min prior to the time and said that they would be running late, close to the end of the 2 hour window that was provided. 15 min prior to the end of the "scheduled" pick up time they called and said they would be 1 hour late. At 8:22pm they called and said MAYBE we would be there by 10:30pm at which time I cancelled the appointment. In speaking with the supervisor apparently they only have one truck so it jobs take longer than expected they cannot deploy other trucks therefore they will just delay or cancel. Not good customer service and not good to waste a customer time especially when you have to make other arrangements like reserving an elevator and haven't other things scheduled as a result of them completing their job. I suggest using another service that will show up on time and not keep you waiting around all day / evening in the hopes they actually show up or charge you more than expected. read more

I would not use this junk removal service EVER again nor recommend it to anyone. The set pricing is NOT listed on the website and is NOT given until arrival which at that point can not be cancelled. If I would have realized it would cost $160 to remove a sofa I would never have scheduled. I scheduled the pickup appointment not realizing that it would not come with a quote or any confirmation besides "I will be there in 15 minutes". It would have been cheaper and easier to rent a Uhaul for an hour to take it to goodwill. read more

I scheduled this service to come to my house and give me an estimate to remove a small, old TV (that I could even pick up myself) and two carpets (8x10 and 5x6). Barely anything. I was told they would give me an estimate when they arrived based on how much room the stuff took on their truck. I'm thinking it can't be much - it's not a lot of stuff. When they got to my house, I showed them what I needed removed and the one gentleman said "Well, there's a $198 minimum fee." What?! Nowhere on this company's website, nor in their confirmation email of coming out to me, did they mention a minimum fee no matter what was being hauled away. I was very upset and disappointed that I had to take time off of work for false advertising. It would be helpful to know UP FRONT that there is a minimum fee prior to even being given an estimate of the stuff to be hauled away. This is a terrible way to run a business. Put that information on your web page and at the very least in your confirmation emails, so customers know UP FRONT and can determine if they have that amount of money to spend UP FRONT! read more

When I sent the photos to the company, this was the response: "I spoke with My manager due to the scratch marks being highly inconsistent with each other. Misleading pricing, left out information, and awful customer service. We used 1-800 got junk to help clean out the remaining items of my grandparents estate, this was already a stressful situation so we figured hiring someone to help would make it much easier. We were wrong. My mother called and booked the appointment, informed them of what needed to be taken away and they said it was no problem. They gave her a quote of 600 on the phone that's what the website said as well for one load. They arrived at the house and informed us that the load would be 700, plus an extra 300 for the items not being bagged. No one had mentioned on the phone that the items needed to be bagged or we would have gladly done that to avoid spending an extra 300 dollars. My mother wasn't at home when they arrived so I had them call her to make sure she was willing to spend that amount of money on one load. When she got on the phone and questioned the pricing and the lack of communication when it came to bagging the items and the extra charge, the man told her if she didn't like it he could dump all the items in the driveway and leave. That is unacceptable. They didn't even take all of the items and it cost my mom 1000 dollars for one load. The man then had the audacity to ask for a tip, after how rude he was to my mother and all of the Mis communication we absolutely did not. This was already a hard situation for my family and this company made it 10 times more stressful. At this point we didn't have any time left to go with another option so we were forced to pay and have them take away what they did. But never again, and we will be warning everyone else not to use this service either. Extremely disappointed. read more

I booked online, they called to say they would be on time at 1PM. They showed up 2 1/2 hours late. We had discussed what I needed removed which was very precious an expensive bedroom furniture. I was told several time the pieces would be donated. As they removed each piece, I waited to see them load it in the truck. To my amazement I watched as they took a sledge hammer to each piece and destroyed it. I cry I was so upset I wanted them to stop. This was beautiful furniture, dresser, desk bookcase. I left the house, it was too late to do anything, my sleigh bed and furniture were destroyed. This is their quote from their website" It's not just junk to us! We do our best to donate and recycle as much as we can. When you use 1-800-GOT-JUNK?, you're helping to keep junk out of the landfill and giving back to the community, too." They told me this over and over that my furniture would be donated. I called and spoke with the manager who was appalled, said he would get back with me. Never heard from him again. If you think they are helping the environment think again they are out to trash everything valuable for their own satisfaction Please don't allow them to pull the wool over your eyes, think twice. I know you call places like these to get rid of things I called because I thought they would be donating the things that I held dear. Any girl would have loved to have this furniture. But its now in the dump. Please don't let them get away with this false advertising any longer. As they arrived on the property they also took half a tree out. Hired them to remove refrigerator. They arrived on time. Removed it quickly. Thought everything was fine. After they left my neighbor came by to tell me there was glass all over my front porch. When I went outside I saw that they also put a huge scratch on my door and left shattered glass everywhere. Where do I start? To begin with, I made the appointment online on Tuesday to have a large, heavy television and a small roll of carpet removed from my apartment on Thursday morning. I received a confirmation email for my appointment. I then received a follow-up phone call confirming my appointment from Brandon, who was super nice. I repeated the items that I needed moved and he told me that he could not give me a price over the phone, that that was their policy (1st red flag)...that his guys had to 'assess the job first' when they arrived at my place...even though I told him it was a TV and a roll of carpet. He also mentioned that they had appointments open for Wednesday, so we changed my appointment to Wednesday morning instead of Thursday. I received another confirmation call, again from Brandon, confirming my appointment for THURSDAY morning. When I reminded him that HE had changed it to Wednesday morning, he placed me on hold for a long while. He came back on the phone and 'remembered' the date change and confirmed again they would be there in the morning (2nd red flag). He was pleasant and apologetic during that conversation. I woke up early Wednesday morning, because the scheduled time was for 8am -10am. At 10:50am, I called Brandon to see where they were, and he said that my appointment wasn't until Thursday morning (3rd red flag)! I reminded him that HE rescheduled and he confirmed and re-confirmed the change to Wednesday twice. I received two more calls, on Wednesday afternoon from Brandon "double-checking" that we had an appointment on Thursday morning and "just making sure that I was on the calendar," and then later Wednesday evening, I received yet another call from a Zac confirming again! (4th red flag). He assured me that they were coming in the morning...after 3 confirmation calls! Cliff and Toli arrived at 8:15am Thursday morning. They walked in and Cliff immediately said it would be $150 to take the TV and the small roll of carpet. When I balked at the sticker shock, he said, "That's our minimum ma'am, we don't pick up stuff for free." I told him that I fully expected to pay, and didn't think for two items, that it would be more than $50. He said that they could take my two items for $100. I agreed because I needed them gone. I am frustrated and surprised that this is their way of doing business. The whole appointment process with all the follow-up calls by two different people was confusing and unprofessional. I feel that I should have received a quote on the phone from Brandon up front, because apparently they DO have a minimum according to Cliff. At that point, I could have then decided if I wanted them to come out for that price or not. I feel like I was ripped off! I will never hire them again! It literally took them 5 minutes, if that, to take the TV and carpet to their truck. In hindsight, all the confirmation calls and confusion, and not providing a price quote up front, were all red flags. After they left, I called Brandon to express my displeasure with their tactics. Up to this point, he had been nice and pleasant, but then began yelling over me and kept telling me that "they have franchises all over the world, and that's the way it's always done and has always been done", and that they have "plenty of business doing things their way". When I tried to speak, he repeatedly said "he had lots of calls waiting and would hang up if I wouldn't listen to him". Apparently they don't care for my future business. The feeling is mutual. Do yourself a favor, and DON'T call them! Find someone else and get a price before they are standing in your house! I gave them one star because they showed up. read more

I had a queen bed frame, mattress, desk and area rug removed and the cost was over $400 to remove. When the movers locked their keys in their truck, I had to wait around 30 minutes for them to find the keys so they could give me a bill. In addition, I am also receiving charges from my landlord from the damage caused to our walls from the movers. I had all my moving plans in place which largely involved Salvation Army taking my bedroom furniture, a TV stand, sofa and several other items. When SA arrived I was informed they would not take ANY furniture as it was not considered resalable. I was stuck because I had to remove these items to finish my move. In a panic I looked up other donation sites and realized their standards for "acceptable furniture donations" were similar and I did not want to go through that again. I contacted 1-800-got junk and had an appointment for a free estimate WITHIN the next 2 hours. The gentlemen arrived on time and I agreed to the estimate. Immediately they went to work and removed all of my furniture and several other items that I was going to discard anyway. My items filled 3/4 of their truck and all was completed within 45 minutes of non-stop loading for the cost of $540.00. It was such a relief getting that hauled away that I felt it was well worth the expense. I would advise anyone considering donating furniture that just because you think it looks fine, the potential donor will be very picky and probably not accept it. Since I was in a time crunch selling or giving away on the internet was not an option. I have used 1-800 got junk several times during the last several years. Their men have always been courteous, careful and pleasant. This last time, I called them on a Sunday and needed to have items picked up that same day. They were able to accommodate me. I filled almost half of the truck and it costs $625.00. I thought that seemed high compared to my last pick up. But they did come quickly and it had been a year or two since my last call. I read good reviews and was optimistic. I booked an appointment for 2 weeks from the day, then moved it a couple days sooner. Got a confirmation email with the correct time saying they'd call 15-30min before the window. No call. Waited an hour, called and was told someone tried to get in touch with me (they didn't), and they were on their way, and would call in 5 minutes. They didn't. I called back 20 minutes later, and was told a manager was pulling over to call me as soon as I hit up. He didn't. I called a third time to basically cancel the appointment as it was within 10 minutes of the end of the window with no word from the team, and they got in touch with the manager who said he was calling me then. Shocker, he didn't. I called back a fourth and final time to cancel only to be interrupted by the team calling to say they're on their way, they got held up by the job before, but it was still going to be another 90 minutes (almost 2 hours passed the end of my window!) before they got there. No one called me before that. I had multiple people call me to make sure it wasn't my phone, and it definitely wasn't on my end. Unsure about the actual junk removal, but most certainly wouldn't recommend based on this experience. read more

The guy flat out told me that they do not recycle or donate anything, they take it all straight to the dump.
