So, we just moved into our new home about 3 weeks ago and discovered that we actually paid for stuff to be moved here that we now needed to throw away! We also broke up some marble-looking white tiles that the previous owner had put down in the path from the garage to the house. They were cracked, broken and extremely slippery when wet, so we pried them up and had them in small moving boxes to be thrown away also. It was quite a pile, including all the stuff that the prior owner had left. I went online to 1-800-Got Junk in Olympia and arranged for a pickup. The notified me by email reminder about my appointment and called me to let me know that they were about an hour away. Three young men arrived: Christian, Jason and Zack! They were masked up, extremely pleasant, professional, and worked quickly to load all the items into their truck. It was an awesome experience! Outrageously expensive! I needed two mattress sets hauled away. The price quoted was almost $500. They only give a price estimate once they are on site. (Making it impossible to compare prices and harder to say no in the moment.) They claimed that the prices are based on the volume of the items, but that's clearly not true because they charge the same price for each piece of a mattress set, regardless of the size. I question the ethics of this company. It was easy to schedule online, and the two men who came were not unpleasant. But I will definitely never call this company again. There are better (and far less expensive) haulers in Seattle. read more

We had cleaned out our garage and had a large pile of trash that needed hauled away. Along with misc boxes, there was an old dishwasher, broken recliner, and broken king-size head and foot boards. So it was a fairly big pile on our patio. Setting up the appointment was super easy; I like that it was all online so I didn't have to worry about calling during office hours. The guys were scheduled for the evening, but called earlier in the day and asked if it was alright if they stopped by shortly because they were just a few blocks away on another job. The gentleman emphasized that there was no problem if it wasn't convenient. It worked with my schedule so I said yes. The two guys were extremely pleasant and professional. They gave me an estimate on what it would cost. The cost is the only reason I rated 1-800-GOT-JUNK 4 instead of 5 stars. It was right around $450 for everything. After the tip, it was close to $500. That's a good bit; but I really wanted it gone. Once I OKed the price, they went right to work. About ten minutes later they were done. They even swept the patio. You can't even tell that there was a bunch of junk sitting there. I would definitely use this company again, but I would wince while pulling out my wallet. read more

I recently booked 1800GotJunk? to pick up basically a full garage worth of stuff in Kent. The truck called in ahead of time and came in (with my ok) even before the time window I was promised. I was quoted for a full truck and maybe 1/3 more, which ended up not being necessary. Those guys stacked my junk with such skill that basically everything fit! The price of over $600 is high, but it's understandable given the service. The guys that came to my house assured me that all the furniture, books, toys in good shape get taken to goodwill, so there's the whole process of sorting out what is reusable or not. Plus the whole structure of maintaining the trucks and paying the labor, in the end the price doesn't seem so unfair after all... Don't forget to tip these guys, they're sweating their S's off in this heat! read more

I scheduled a pick up for a time I knew I would be home, and I got a call from the truck an hour and a half early stating they were around to do the pickup, and that if not they'd come back at the scheduled time, which the driver stated was a full hour before the time I had scheduled. So I tried calling the driver back to correct his mistake, and got no reply. I tried calling the main office, and the number was out of service for several hours. I finally get the main office, and they say the schedule was a full hour ahead like the driver quoted. I have a confirmation email which shows the correct time. How the hell do you screw up the schedule time by a full hour? The main office guy says he'll have the truck team contact me in 5-10 minutes. Twenty minutes later and no call yet. I had a wonderful experience last time I called these guys, but it seems like they're very hit or miss; Customer service is a joke if anything goes wrong. read more

The guys who showed up were nice and efficient enough, but lacked the enthusiasm I was hoping to see, and I now understand why.. Their poor employees get paid next to minimum wage while their company charges almost $700.00 for a full truck (which is not even that big).. Their prices are ridiculous and come to find out, everything goes to the dump, even recyclables and donations which is NOT AT ALL what their website says.. I was told it saved the company money and that they were directly encouraged by their manager to do this. They said that the only things that didn't go to the dump were the metal, which the shop manager keeps so that he can sell it to the metal recycling place. This place is a fraud and a rip-off. Demo'ed a small kitchen, had a few items like outdoor chairs, a door, office chair, broken outdoor umbrella.... I thought from the website that my debris did not qualify for the excessively priced concrete/debris prices that charge a premium for a 1' tall stack of dense shite... but alas Thus I expected the price to be under $500, as I could've gotten the county to drop off and pick up a dumpster for about $400 by my estimations. They originally showed up (kudos to them for calling before the time block to say they were running late and calling again 20 mins before they were to show up) and quoted $700 for the job after letting me know that the plywood in the cabinets qualified for the price of CRAZY (1" by 10" by 5" concrete debris price) Downside is they had brush and a toilet in the truck already so it made it hard to tell if it was I or them that were accurate about the amount of stuff to haul. I had "haggled" them down to $640 before agreeing to a deal, and the final bill was$639. I thought the price was ridiculous but it took two in-shape men 40 minutes to carry our stuff from our yard to the truck so its hard to know if the price was excessive or not. Just so glad it is gone- not a basement so it wasn't swept clean, but no bits were left behind, and I would recommend this in a heartbeat to people who...weren't hurting for money. I would give a 5 star rating in a heartbeat if it weren' for the unexpected crying of my pocketbook. If only their website had been a bit more forthcoming, forewarned is forearmed! read more

I hate giving bad review but once I made my booking online I got a call within minutes asking if they could come a little early to just get the job done m. I thought that was great. They said they would be here in 15 to 20 min. Well an hour and half later they arrived. Which was in my normal set time frame, but why say they were coming early if they didn't? My neighbor hired 1 800 I Got Junk and they wiped out my rockery, lantern and plantings. Drove right over it. To his credit the manager did call back promiseing to make it right ... I'll keep you posted EDIT OCT. 24th After working with 1 800 got junk, we are pleased they understood and stood behind us, the neighbors, in FINALLY getting the insureance company to pay the claim.. Now , THREE AND A HALF MONTHS later, we can get our yard back the way it was. I will say without YELP, I don't think we would have had a prayer. We were NOT looking to get rich, In fact the settlement will not cover the full cost of the posts and house numbers ect. and workers. read more

Their online website has a decent interface and the process for making a reservation goes well. I booked an appointment for the next day, and was able to get a reasonably timed 2-hour window. The confirmation email they send says they will contact you 15-30 minutes before the window, to let you know when they will be arriving. 45 minutes into the window, I call the 800 number since I haven't heard anything yet. They can't reach the truck but assure me they've left messages and that all will be well. I get a call about 15 minutes later saying they won't be arriving for another 45 mins, putting them right at the end of the appointment window. They actually arrived closer to 60 mins later. Once they had parked, I showed them what I had to be moved, and they re-position their truck below my balcony and start dropping stuff down 5 stories, completely destroying anything that had recycling value and releasing all the refrigerant in the A/C unit I had left for them to remove. Not a very green approach at all. But it was fast, and it entertained the kids in the neighboring apartments, who all came out to watch from their balconies. They only missed the truck once, with a piece of lightweight plastic that caught the wind. Still, the sight of them dropping a 60 pound A/C unit over the side was worrisome, given how close they were to other cars in the lot. The final bill was higher than expected, but not out of reasonable range. read more

Definitely pricey, but overall a very good experience. I made an appointment online and was able to secure a good time for the next day. Someone called a few hours after I booked the appointment to confirm and ask if I had questions. She gave me a high-level explanation of the pricing model - basically you pay for how much of the truck is filled up. The movers called at 1:45 and said they would arrive at 2:15. They arrived @ 2:40. Not a big deal as I was working from home, but I can see where that would be an issue for some customers. I showed them the various items I wanted hauled away and they quoted me a price from a laminated sheet - which was high, but what I had expected. The movers were very courteous and conscientious, and took exceptional care to make sure to keep everything clean. They triple-checked with me that they had taken everything I requested, and after I paid, they offered to help if I had anything that needed to be moved around. For what I needed, this was a good deal. It would have taken me many, many hours, plus the rental of a truck/van to remove these items from my house. Plus, I like that they will donate/recycle as much as possible. If I had a lot of time, I may have gone with a more cost-effective option, but in the end I don't think I would have saved enough to be worthwhile. This was very hassle-free! read more

For some reason I never received a call for a quote before my appointment so when they showed up I definitely had sticker shock and had to turn them away. They worked with me to get to a price I could afford without being pushy at all. I am very happy with the service and I love that 1-800-GOT-JUNK does everything possible to keep items out of land fills. I have had two experiences with 1800GJ, and both have been fantastic. My most recent haul-away was for a giant area rug. I had called around to several places, and had received a quote of $100. When I called 1800GJ, they were super friendly right off the bat and offered to pick it up within a couple of hours. They showed up exactly when they said they would, and hauled the rug away for an even lower price of $75! The whole experience was quick and easy.
