Do not use this company! I wish I had read the reviews before using them. They have THE WORST customer service. Long wait times (over an hour) when calling customer service. They are unreliable and the lack of communication is awful. The driver called at 10:30 pm on our date of delivery (did not communicate the time frame so I took a personal day to be at home and wasted a whole day waiting) when I missed the call at 10:30 pm the driver said he was "right around the corner" and never showed up!! The container itself was old and rusty with an uneven floor, and nails and screw sticking out. Again, worst experience ever. I hope I will save you from making the same mistake I did. read more

It's like an old comedy act, 'Whose on first' . The drivers are the only thing to save this company. Their website is Akward to say the least. After you spend alot of time trying to schedule your containers and it telling you no dates available! Call in . I'm experienced in their call in. I was on hold for 2 hrs. This time I tried the call back option. Not much better. So I was told you can't schedule from website. Then why advertise it and why have it on your website? Biggest mistake I made was using Pack-Rat. Only used them because they have better containers. They don't tell you they have limited delivery areas. They just hit me with 2 months worth of storage fees & at an increased rate that I was never notified of. I am so disgusted with this company, will never use again or ever recommend. Stay away. I wrote the review below about how horrible my sone and I were treated by this company. They were a "no show" twice: on 9/2 and 9/5 for a pod drop-off when we needed to move out by 9/4. Lied to numerous times that they were still coming on 9/2. No accountability and no way to communicate with the local company responsible for delivery of the pod. The 800# you must communicate with told us on Sunday that they received no communication from the operations manager in Charleston explaining the delay. The owner responded to my review below requesting the order #. They are 7997930 & 8002625. There are two because the first one was canceled on 9/3 after no show on 9/2 and then we were talked into trying again...horrible decision! Were told the first order was referenced so you would know the situation and make us a priority! That was a joke! My number is the secondary # on 8002625. Do not expect a smooth move if you use the North Charleston pack rat. They canceled our delivery on two occasions and were four days late in picking up the pods after we had unloaded them. We also caught them lying to us on three occasions as to why they were having problems and issues meeting the deadlines. They compensated us for the delays, but we almost killed ourselves trying to get everything done in a short period. We had family that purchased airline tickets to visit based on the much earlier delivery date that was scheduled. (It was scheduled 2 weeks from the pickup date) We did a cross country move and the Garden Grove California branch did a great job. The person that signed us up also did a great job, but that did not make up for the nightmare out of the North Charleston office. If you are doing a cross-country move, make sure you really check out both branches that will be handling your move. We experienced a dramatic difference between the two locations. read more

Our container arrived at the Charleston location over a week ago and we still haven't received it. Today is the 3rd delivery date I was given and so far I haven't received any info that it's coming today. The past 2 times we were supposed to receive the container, I received a call at 5 pm saying that their truck is broken and they can't deliver it. Even though I called their customer service the same day to confirm delivery. It seems like their customer service team is not communicating properly with the Charleston location. I was promised a call this morning from a manager, which of course also didn't happen. I have been sitting in an empty house for over a week now and 1 800 Pack rat is doing absolutely nothing to help! All they offer is $50 per delayed day and that really doesn't help! read more

Pod never showed up. Movers had nothing to move & I got only a $100 refund. What a joke. I spent $7k with them for 2 pods and one didn't show. They weren't willing to compensate me for anything further. Only tried fo have another manager come over the top to make things better. This service is HORRIBLE. I will NEVER USE AGAIN. read more

Consumer beware!!!!! I was told 10 business days for a move from New Jersey to South Carolina... that was on August 17th. I am still without any of my belongs. The company could care less! Every week they tell us next week...., we are beyond frustrated. PLEASE don't pack any medication or anything you need to LIVE! They will not deliver! I have asked over & over to be put in contact with the CEO Bob Poirier & was told I am not allowed to speak with him. So now I still just wait... with nothing more than a duffel bag of clothes & an air mattress on the floor. BEWARE!!! read more

Omg !!! Don't go with service please ! Do yourself a favor ever since I hired them it's been a delay to get my pack rat to the state I moved to SC! I went from Massachusetts to South Carolina ! It got delayed two days because they only own 1 truck to their deliveries! So once their truck breaks down everyone gets pushed back ! Ridiculous !! Now I have the pack rat still at my residential area and it was suppose to be picked up on Monday June 24th after being dropped off on Saturday June 22nd ! Mine you I have to give the delivery man 5 star he was so accommodating with us!! I have called twice already to see when it will be picked no answer I get put on hold to listen to instrumental music for hours and I've left messages to get called back and no one returns my call !!! But you call the sale department and it gets answer quick of course to get your money !!!! This company sucks don't go with them unless you want to deal with a headache !!! This company needs to go out of business they are not very professional or on time with anything !! Avoid them at all Cost unless you want to deal with the run around they give you and the hidden fees they charge you !!! Update !!!! Now I called again spoke to Anaya! To find out the truck has mechanical problems ! Really this must be the their usual excuse to tell their customers the truck breaks down all the time !! This company is a joke! I have moved numerous times and never had issues like this. They lack of care for the customer. Online container pricing was not honored to start. It was only a $3 difference, so I thought nothing of it. Should have been my warning as it got worse from there! Ordered 2 containers, which were dropped off at the correct time, however, the customer service rep that scheduled my pickup, scheduled one for the wrong date. I was able to get that moved after 2 phone calls. It gets worse. I received a phone call at 5:40pm to say they could not deliver my full containers as promised and pushed the move back. I called to find out why and was told the truck was broke down. Not even an apology, much less any monetary compensation. In fact, I got an email to say there would be no compensation. When they did not call me day of delivery, I got a weird feeling they weren't coming. I called from about 12:30pm to 5pm trying to get someone on the phone. Finally I got a "manager" who said she would help me. She did not! She had someone else call me back to say they had to push out deliver again. Now my stuff is a week late getting to me. I managed to get the original driver on the phone and he gave me the local dispatch number, so in calling them several times, I was able to get them to deliver my containers a week late. I have movers empty them the next day and was expecting them picked up right after that. It has now been 12 DAYS and they still will not pick the containers up!! I called to get my money back again and got a rude "Manager" on the phone named Juanita who told me I was asking her to do something that could not be done and that "I had my opinion, and they had theirs" What? it is not my opinion that the containers are STILL taking up my entire driveway!! I should be charging them rent. They were nice enough to tell me they would not charge me another months rent for having the containers longer than one month, how nice. They give you the runaround and are horrible to deal with. Completely disappointing, horrible people work here with zero care for the customer. No one from Packrat should bother trying to contact me now as this is beyond repair. I hope no one else has to go through this and I will make sure anyone I know certainly doesn't. read more

My daughter and her husband had them booked for 2 months with a signed contract and they called at 5 pm on the day they were supposed to deliver to let them know they would be 3 days late. They tried to submit a complaint (as their new delivery date was 1 day after they closed on their house) and were told "this is as far as this complaint will go" which was nowhere. Pack Rat has done nothing to try and correct this situation or assist in any way. My daughter's family currently have a house full of boxes and furniture with movers scheduled and no where to take them. Pack Rat is completely unprofessional and undependable! read more
