Overall, I'm pleased with my new granite countertops. But I feel there is room for improvement in the way the company manages the work. The main issue is personal communication with the customer and installers, particularly as the job is getting started. PJ covers all the legal bases during the contract and estimate process - to be sure the customer signs off on the cost and all the disclaimers. Everything is done through email. Word to the wise: read the fine print, because basically they are asking for you to sign away all your rights if you are not happy with something. In fact, the process is so tight that PJ probably should have been an attorney. But he lacks any interest in you once he has his final payment. Unlike Sepehr D., the challenges of my job were not navigated well. Also, beware of "upsell" tactics when it comes to your plumbing and appliances (dishwasher and disposal, as well as faucet). I bought my own faucet and did not consider purchasing a new dishwasher, since mine was less than 6 months old. I even questioned why I needed a new "kit" for my dishwasher given that it was installed so recently However, they did sell me a new disposal I'm not sure I needed, and there were lots of add-ons in the plumblng parts & labor category. Other points for the consumer: Cover everything with plastic or heavy paper. They don't warn you ahead of time, but it IS in the fine print about the dust and debris from the demolition and cutting of the granite. It gets everywhere, and I feel they could have done more to protect my tile floor and tile patio where they used my entryway custom bench as a sawhorse. Finally, ask for the remainder of your granite (if you want it). We were never asked and would have liked to have a few of the remaining pieces, especially since we paid for it. read more

Terrific work - high quality cabinets, quick installation, and terrific customer service. I hired One Day to remodel the kitchen in my Pacific Palisades condo. Their price was far better than any of the other companies I looked at (with the exception of the ones that use very cheap products). During the remodel, we encountered certain challenges because of unforeseen conditions. One Day was able to navigate all of these problems without issue. They installed the cabinets and countertops in a couple of days and were very mindful of my schedule and the HOA's requirements. We had a great experience with this company. PJ the owner is so friendly and responsive. We went to the store, got quotes (extremely comparable prices to Home Depot) and then PJ himself came out to do measurements, made great recommendations, and visited our house during the construction. Even offered to come out after everything was complete just to make sure we were completely satisfied but I didn't think this was necessary as we are very happy with the work. We got new quartz countertops in our kitchen, bathroom and wet bar area as well as new sinks and a new cooktop and hood. Everything was completed in about a week. I own an apartment building in the high-end rental market of Hermosa Beach. 1-Day Kitchen and Bath has installed kitchen cabinets and granite countertops in two of my units. I intent to continue using this business to remodel all my kitchens, as their units become vacant. The following is my experience of using 1-Day for two recent kitchen remodels: I initially obtained bids from three kitchen contractors and found 1-Day competitive in price, but incomparable in the promptness, clarity and completeness of their proposal. Another consideration for selecting 1-Day was, this is a small family owned business local to my South Bay area. My two kitchen remodels started and progress exactly on schedule; important to me for minimizing vacancy downtimes. During the entire remodeling process from proposal, demolition, installation, to completion; the owner and hands-on manager, PJ, was always pleasant, quick and helpful answering questions and making changes. For example on one job, I decided to change the ordered and delivered Blind Corner Base units to units with Lazy Susans. PJ accommodated this major change without fuss or schedule delay. His long-time installers, were great to work with, kept their agreements, absolutely knew their crafts, were relentlessly attentive to details, and left the jobsite impeccable. There was no attempt, thankfully, to pad the agreed contract price with "add ons", "additional work", etc. I ordered the Ginger Square cabinets and as a builder myself, I found these cabinets were of ultimate quality: 5-ply wood box, solid hardwood doors perfectly finished, dove tail front and back drawers with full extensions, soft-close hinges and quality Berenson pulls. Since these kitchen remodels were business investments in an apartment building, there was the financial consideration, namely Return on Investment: ROI = Investment Cost ÷ Monthly Cash Flow Increase. The numbers for the second remodel were $8238 ÷ $300 = 28 months. In other words, in 2.3 years, increased profit will pay for this kitchen remodel---a most excellent investment plus equity appreciation. A very satisfied and repeat customer. read more

First I will say they did a good job installing a new granite counter top in our bathroom. The downside was when I paid the deposit the owner complained his father did not charge enough but he honored the quote. I knew some plumbing parts were replaced and was prepared to pay for them as agreed with the father. When I went to pay the balance of the bill the son had added additional labor costs for installing the replacement parts. This was never mentioned by the father and the labor cost was high. The owner was unable to reach his father and we finally agreed to a lower labor cost. Communication between the son and father is lacking and the customer is the one who gets frustrated. I would be hesitant to use them again. read more

These guys really saved us- when Block Tops- Ikea's countertop sub- left us in the lurch and our tenant was set to move in in 2 days, 1 Day Kitchen came to the rescue and installed high quality granite counters for us (literally in one day!) at a fair price. They are clear about cost and send detailed bills after completing the job. John really knows his stuff and is a quick problem solver on the job. After reading the reviews on here I decided to check this place out myself. The staff there was very knowledgeable and they answered all my questions. I ended up using them to remodel my kitchen. The cabinets they installed were great! I used the Espresso cabs with River White granite. Wow I am so happy with my dream kitchen. These people were half the cost of others I got estimates from. We recently hired 1 Day Kitchen to build a granite bar counter, re-do our fireplace with granite, and install hardwood floors. Let me say this, John and P.J are very professional and try very hard to please their customers. However, there is room for improvement with training and communicating with their personnel who do the work. After the hardwood floors were installed, glue was left all over the hardwood and they had to have their worker come back and remove the glue (which did come out by the way). The men who installed the granite did a beautiful job, but didn't show up until almost 8:00 at night - this was after I was told that they'd be there before 5:00 pm. The last issue was the fireplace - which had to be adjusted since the base was raised and thereby exposed the fireplace vent. John tried very hard to correct this, but seemed uncertain and indecisive as to what to do. Finally, my husband suggested that we fix it, and they offered us a $50 discount to finish the fireplace ourselves. Thoughout the job, we were given updated invoices with various charges, some which we disputed (ex. cork re-stock fee for cork which was not needed, yet ordered per John). PJ and John were gracious enough to work with us when we had issues with any charges or work being done. We are now very happy with the work now that we have fixed the Fireplace and the floors are clean. We have a whole new living room that's absolutely beautiful. Bottom line - the work they do is good, but they need to improve their communication with their employees (and eachother) so that the customer is not incovenienced or charged for something they didn't use. read more

1 Day Kitchen & Bath was the best choice for my cabinet installation! I found them on Yelp, and they started work on my cabinets literally the day after I signed the contract. They were prompt when responding to my many emails and texts, and reliable as far as providing the deliverables on time and as scheduled. Also, they are very professional, and thanks to them, my kitchen cabinets look gorgeous!! The individuals that assembled and installed my cabinets were a delight to work with, and they worked hard to get the job done right. Many times, they would tell me, "We will install it however you want", when installing a filler, crown molding, the placement of pantry slide drawers, etc...so there is a lot of customization going on. Also, I felt that PJ and his crew were honest as far as pricing and in general. The total cost of my kitchen project was very reasonable and worth every penny. We were looking for granite or quartz for our kitchen counter top and went to 4-5 places to look at the different pieces available. We already had someone to install it, so we were only looking for the product. When we went to 1 Day Kitchen & Bath and talked with PJ, we were impressed that he didn't try to sell us anything, answered our questions even knowing we were price comparing and had already been to other stores, made suggestions, tried to match a couple of pieces we brought from other stores to see what his price was, and gave us samples to take home...large enough to really see what it would look like in our kitchen. He was always professional, helpful, and available to answer questions when we called or revisited. He was never once pushy or irritated by our numerous questions. When we finally decided on the granite we wanted and brought it to him, he showed us one more granite piece after he saw our cabinet stain to suggest it might be better than what we had chosen. It turned out that the granite style was actually the one we had originally picked out first at another store, but was too expensive at that store, so we gave up on looking for it somewhere else. I was pleasantly surprised at PJ's price...$260 less. AND his suggestion was over $100 less than the one we went in to buy from him. To us, that was integrity over sale. When I was ready PJ came out and measured myWorking c home for countertops and to install my appliances. I had initially purchased the quartz from another company which was chipped when PJ's company went to pick it up. The quartz was reordered from that company however the countertop and the island pieces did not match. PJ sent his fabricator twice to pick up the granite. PJ recommended the place to purchase the which I did. He told me the countertops would be ready for install on a certain day, which they were.
