We had done another escape room and really liked the experience so we had some out of town guests and wanted to try something different with them. We had the corporate espionage room which was very basic. The decor was absolutely uninteresting and there were very few puzzles. Most of it was password related on a computer which felt a little like it was something I could have done at home. The staff was lovely but very young. Like the both could have been 16. The facility is bland as you'd expect. It's just a small corporate office space. Given our experiences between this one and the other, I think we would prefer Escape HQ. But plot and story to go with more diverse Locks too. read more

The Study was the one that is was free and she said that was the second most difficult one. That did not scare us! We waited a little bit for them to get the room ready and they have a wait room full of games for us to play! So even the little time we waited was a lot of fun! Been here twice. My first visit was with a group of 8 and we did the Corporate Espionage room, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! Super fun experience! For my second visit, I brought a group of eight 14 year olds who were signed up to do the Bank Heist room. It was an absolute fun experience, with challenging but not impossible clues. The Ruins Room was the best so far, but I have only been in "The Bank Heist" and "The Ruins". I plan on telling everyone I know and then some. Yes. Buy the Groupon; it's a great deal! This place is a little bit off of the beaten path, in an industrial district far away from anything else so make sure you get something to eat before. When you enter the building, you sign your waiver. Then there are maze balls to play with while you wait for the room to open up. This is a great time to get to know your team. If your entire team shows up early, you are allowed to start early. When everyone has arrived, the team is told the theme and backstory of the room. Then they are shown how to enter the combinations in the locks. I really loved that they wanted you to waste as little time as possible. You are allowed to call over the radio and see if you have the correct combination. We never did that, but I loved that the option was there. You are also offered 3 hints (our team used 2 hints towards the end). When we got into the room, the decor was not cheesy or overdone. It looks like a clean and organized man lived there. It was easy to find things to investigate. We had 3 teenagers and they were awesome and super well behaved, but we also went at 10:40pm, so I'm sure the mom knew they would be okay. We also had a girl in a wheelchair and she could do everything anyone else could do. General tips on escape rooms: 1. Work as a team. Call people over when you find something. They might see something you don't. 2. Don't be a puzzle hog! If you don't get it, let someone else try. Don't snatch the puzzle from someone else's hands. 3. Try to include people as much as possible. We had a puzzle that I suggested we move over a couple of feet so 5 people could work on it instead of 2. To conclude: we made it out of Fallout Shelter with 12 minutes remaining! That room has a 48% escape rate and was very fun. Perfect for first escape room. read more

The entire experience from booking to the end was just horrible. We have played at your previous location and loved every room! The booking system was very complicated when the previous system was very easy. When we were greeted the lady seemed bored. During our game experience it was very lacking. There was no direction of what to work on next and you are forced to ask for a hint because there no direction. The room felt like it was just a wall thrown up. THe lack of detail was very noticeable. In the previous location it was amazing! and to go to this location it was just a very poor experience. At the end the lady took our picture but didn't seem to be happy that we did escape and did not offer a suggestion of any other rooms to try at the location. One hour to escape? Bring on the challenge! This was our second time here and had a blast both times. Such a fun and out of the norm outing. This visit we did The Study. They say that this room only has a 20% escape rate so we were a little worried for good reason. For most rooms they point you in the direction to get started, but this room they are just like "Good luck, I'm outta here." Getting started was pretty difficult and took us about 18 minutes to figure out our first clue so we were behind pretty quickly. The puzzles in this room were extremely challenging. We did have to ask for help a couple times. There were a nice variety of puzzles which made it a lot of fun and let different people show their strengths. The Study also has three rooms so that you can separate to work on various puzzles. Sadly, we needed about 30 more seconds to successfully escape The Study. We were working on the last code as time ran out putting us into the 80% of failures :( I would definitely recommend One Hour To Escape, but if it's your first time doing an escape room don't start with The Study. This company has quite a few different rooms to choose from. The owners are super nice and helpful. Booking is very easy and both times we have been have been very positive experiences. The Bank Heist: We had heard a lot about this room from friends and finally we made it happen for us, too. Good thing - this has such a great approach and was a nice change for us from the normal. And enough things to do, some great puzzles, and a fun couple to be paired up with. Everything we heard was true and this was a blast! Theme:Such a neat idea - let's go rob a (fake) bank tonight. Quality:I was very surprised by how well everything was working - if you ever go through and see the props in the room, maybe you'll understand. However, well well maintained! Difficulty:Really, there is a great mix in this room, but some puzzles were trickier and new to us so took some time. Also, we apparently cannot read and that held us up. Fun:We had a lot of fun in this room - so many things to do! ======== Spy vs. Spy: We finished this room so quickly and with so much energy that it was a really great experience. I was worried having such a large group in there, but it just made finding and solving things so fast. And while the room itself was fun, we had an extra bonus at the end of the room - a challenge box. Once we finished the room, they gave us a box to solve and we finished that with four minutes of our original time left - two in less than the time of one. Theme:Some of these props we so spot on - I wish I could share because on of the main puzzles just has the neatest prop that is hard to look away from. Quality:Great job with the quality of the room - I loved how things worked together. The only thing I would say is there was a puzzle that was hard to get to work because we didn't follow instructions right away. Difficulty:This was pretty simple overall, but there were some fun puzzles inside to keep it engaging. Fun:This was such a fun time - we love the group that we worked with on this and everyone contributed in some way. ======== The Study: We've liked the rooms here quite a bit - each has some neat things inside and the employees are fantastic to work with. This room in particular was well thought out and has some pretty good puzzles inside (if you pay enough attention to find them all). This was a harder room for us for a number of factors. First, I just had a long day and then doing this later in the evening, I may not have been at the top of my game. Second, there was a lot for a group of two, and we would have fared better with a larger group. In any case, I know I came across as a little irritated after this, but much more at myself than anything else. Theme:This was pretty neat, if a little eccentric. Quality:There were a few broken things in the room, which for the most part did not have any impact on the overall experience. Difficulty:This is very hard for two people alone, mainly because we just missed things that either we completely skipped or stared at a bit. Fun:There are a couple of really neat things in here - I wish I could do them justice, but to do so I'd probably have to give it away. On the other hand, I was a little frustrated because we should have listened when they said it was too much for two people before we went in. ======== The Ruins: Even with the threat of losing an hour over our heads, we decided to head out quite late for an escape room. And is it a good thing we did, because we set a record (the second in one day)! The owners here are nice and we spent some time chatting, and the room itself had a lot of thought and planning going into it. The overall game play was a little different than some of the other rooms in the area, which made the experience also a bit different (some things easier, some harder). There are some thing that could be better maintained, and which caused a few pinched fingers and blood blisters. But, we still had fun and made it out quickly! (And, yes, I'm wearing a t-shirt from another escape room in the photo.) Theme:The theme of this room was great, and every puzzle was tied into it very well. Quality:There were a few broken items in here (none of the puzzles), and some of the decorations in particular show wear and tear. Had a wonderful experience last night! Natalie was so accommodating and helpful in booking our (very) last minute trip to play last night! My bestfriend and myself go to escape rooms often and we had been to this one before to play the Ruins. We played last time with our 4 and another couple and we had a blast! This time we came just as a pair and it was still a great experience. The clues that we did have to ask for were not direct answers but instead little nudges to get us back on track which ended up being very helpful in the Study room because there were so many things that we could be doing at once. My friend booked a private escape room for a group of friends to celebrate her birthday. This is the second escape room I've done (the other was with a different company) and this far exceeded my expectations! We did the bank heist room, which is a little different from the other rooms. In this room you are not actually attempting to escape -- instead, you and your group are bank robbers trying to break into a bank and see how much money you can steal and get away with in one hour! I thought the puzzles were just hard enough, but not too hard so that everyone in our group had a chance to help and no one was left to feel like a moron. We had enough room inside for 10 people, but more probably would have started to feel cramped. You can get hints while inside the room, if you want to cut them in on your share of the heist! Our group had a fantastic time and plan to go back for another run in a different room. They have corporate espionage, fallout shelter, the study, and a new room, the ruins! I think it would be most fun to do with a group of friends, but they will group you with others if you don't have a big enough party to reserve the entire room. We talked with the rooms' creator and another employee after the escape and they were really fun. Great people running the show here and we will definitely be back! read more

Escape rooms have popped up all over the place lately and there are several companies offering to lock you in a room until you figure out how to get out. (*disclaimer - it's illegal in the state of Texas to actually lock you in but you forget this part when you're knees deep in clues) A coworker tried 1 Hour to Escape with her husband and since she was impressed, I decided to give it a go. There's no way to give you too many details without spoiling the surprise so let me give a few general tips instead. ~The instructions say show up 15-20 minutes early. Do this. Unless you book a room with 8 people, you'll be grouped with strangers. Use this 20 minutes to get to know each other, at the very least learn their names. This will help you work as a team, which you will very much need to do. ~Listen very carefully to the introduction speech once you're in the room. There are clues here as to how to start. ~Use your hints wisely, you only get 3. ~Write your shit down. Paper and pencils are provided. Any time you find any kind of clue, write it down. Simple mistakes waste precious time and you think you'll be able to remember simple things. You won't. Date night, corporate team building, just for kicks - this is a fun as hell way to spend a Saturday night. They change the rooms every few months and I can't wait to try and break out of another room. read more

I had been wanting to try an escape room for so long. We did the spy room. I booked the room with 5 friends and another group of 4 were also in the room. I have to say 10 people was hard to work with as you tend not to work together at that point (it's hard to know what 10 different people are doing at a given time) and the rooms were really small. The temperature in the first room was so hot they had to bring in a box fan and we were still sweating. We were brought into the room and told our mission and some rules like what door will remain unlocked (because you can't legally lock people in rooms), which doors are off limits and don't destroy anything (like pull up carpet or go through ceiling tiles--it all seemed straight forward and common sense but can totally see how you wouldn't really know.). They give you three clues along the way if you want them and unlimited code checks (confirmation that you have the code right or not. We used two clues, one was right as one in the group figured it out but we escaped with 16 minutes to spare. I wish we had the room to us 6 or not a full room as it was just too many people and it was way too hot. I don't think it's feasible to buy the whole room though but I do bet that there are games that go on that aren't full. They are also running a groupon that is essentially buy one get one. read more

Instead of trying to crack puzzles to get out of the room before the hour runs out, you will be trying to break into a vault which then has safety deposit boxes that u must solve puzzles to "earn money". We went here with 2 of our friends (there was four of us) and it was harder than we thought! But we still had fun. I'll probably try out a regular escape room next time.
